that several polls predict these City Council results on Election Day. He didn't quite remember percentages for everyone:

Second: David Crowley, 57%

Third: John Cranley, 55%

Fourth: Winburn himself, 52%

Fifth: Laketa Cole, 46%

Sixth: Sam Malone, 39%

Seventh: Minette Cooper, 37%

Eighth: Melanie Bates

Ninth: Chris Monzel

Then, in order: Cecil Thomas; Chris Bortz; Leslie Ghiz; and Jeff Berding.

Yeah right? So who did Charlie Winburn's poll? Was it a scientific poll? Or from a reputable polling firm? Come on Enquirer, did you check you facts first? Or did you just take good ol' Windbag at his word?

Looks more like his wish list than a poll.

I love politics!!! And I love Winburn...he is such a tease!!

Harris was actually 10th!

Well, Winburn might have the first three correct, but I have to wonder where the next six came from. Perhaps from that Winburn robocall that I hung up on a week or so ago.

Also had one from Garry over the weekend. Again I hung up.

I don't appreciate candidates bothering me at home on my equipment and my time when other more important things are going on in my life, and that includes relaxation.

Charlie is full of it.

4 incumbents losing? Nonsense.

One will loes, to Winburn. That will be Berding or Monzel or Thomas.

The rest win.

at 10:09 AM, October 02, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon is wrong. The other poll also had three incumbents out of the top ten, and another one at 9th. 2-4 incumbents will lose.

at 10:12 AM, October 02, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

looks like berding, ghiz and bortz are going to get what they deserve!

at 10:47 AM, October 02, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Please, this poll is way off.

My research has Garry coming in first and Jeffre running a close second with 98% of the vote.

Jeez Charlie, hire some professionals to do your polling next time.

Go Jeffre! The man of the century for the common man!

PATHETIC HYPOCRITES !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 !

"I don't appreciate candidates bothering me at home on my equipment and my time when other more important things are going on in my life, and that includes relaxation."

I believe it's called "outreach."

at 12:35 PM, October 02, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

"Outreach" can antagonize voters when it comes in the form of disturbing them.

Do they know that I might have arthritis or other disabilites that make it difficult to get to a ringing phone?

Close to elections, do they know that I have already voted and all the calls on the world won't make any difference? Absentee voters numbers have been growing and in fact absentee voting is encouraged by state election officials

Isn't the "outreach" for the candidate's benefit and not necessarily for the potential voter?

How many robocalls fail to sufficiently disclose who is funding them?

How many robocalls either lie or tell half-truths about the candidates and their opponents?

If I go to the trouble of putting my name on a national "do Not Call" list, as hundreds of thousands do, would that not indicate to candidates that individuals do not wish to be contacted in this manner?

Who among voters actually welcome robocalls?

I believe those candidates who buy into these have been duped by advertising reps that they are effective. Surely, the reps will not reveal how resented such calls are by the public.

The poll is way off. Thomas is gone, Monzel and Berding are on the bubble. Minette Cooper and Melanie Bates have no shot. I'm going to stick with what I've been saying all along, there will be a dark horse like John Eby that slips into 9th.

at 1:29 PM, October 02, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

There is NO way that Sam Malone will finish sixth. He won't even place in the top nine.

That alone makes this whole poll extremely suspect.

Did he call you from his treadmill?

at 2:35 PM, October 02, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

what if this poll is correct? wouldn't it be funny if Scott Gehring was Bates' chief of staff and he gets the satisfaction of watching his old boss move out ?

If you don't want to get robocalls, just take your phone number off of your voter registration.

The candidates get your number from the voter files.

Call the BOE

.
"...The candidates get your number from the voter files...."

wRong the campaigns get the voter registration list from the BOE, they then scrub the list for good numbers, changed numbers based on current marketing data base !

The phone numbers at BOE is the number when you registered to vote. If you have moved, changed numbers, etc. the BOE is outdated, Period !

Political calls are exempt from "Do not call " !

Sorry, your out of luck until the voters decide that their information should remain confidential and pass a resolution !

Else, tell me what politician is going to ignore a likely voter ?

What 'Rove', wRong wingnut whacko, employer is going to ignore whom you voted for ?

What 'fishwRap' reporter is going to ignore your voting history when they need to 'slam' someone to promote their 'cronies' ?

PATHETIC, HypocRites !

HAD ENOUGH:

VOTE NO, on the 'fanatical five' !

VOTE, for a real DEMOCRAT 2007 and JEFFRE !

Looks like all of those stellar endorsements that Jeffre has been racking up haven't helped him much in the polls.

I coulda sworn that the Jenny Edwards endorsement was GOLD and would've given him a top three finish.

*snicker*

I agree with the blogger who said that he doesn't like to be bothered at home with this stuff...his answering machine, fax, email, ect. Quite right! Those of us who are actually going to make the effort to vote or even to absentee vote are intelligent enough to make up their own mind and do some reading. Winburn's numbers have gotta be off..four incumbants leaving? don't think so. i'm out of town now but I'm just glad the HUMAN RIGHTS ORDINANCE finally got set right...CW can't screw that up....and should he win I'm all for him being tough on crime...go get em!! I got a watch ripped off my wrist downtown last month. Part of my incentive to move for awhile...also...my regards to your wife Charlie..I mean that!

If a candidate has your email, they have a very good reason. You either signed up with the party or with a friendly campaign.

Either way, YOU GAVE IT OUT TO A POLITICAL CAMPAIGN BEFORE! They don't blast emails to people who have not expressed an interest in receiving political emails.

at 8:01 PM, October 02, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

I wonder why Berding is so far down. Who would have imagined that alienating his own supporters, refusal to associate with Blacks, attacking his own allies on the budget bill, and trying to kill birds at Bungle Stadium would turn people against him?

4:00 PM, October 02, 2007"

This is a push poll designed to get the results one wants !

( small numbers, weak representative sample, zip code targeted based on voting history, etc. )

Shall we forget whom was elected Mayor ?

i.e. if you call only registered wRong wingnut whackos, one could expect the poll results as revealed !

However, whom controls the council ?

Now, that voter base will reveal a totally different picture !

Now, you have the rest of the story !

PATHETIC !

HAD ENOUGH:

political calls are exempt from the Do Not Call lists

at 3:48 PM, October 03, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes, we know that political calls, among some others, are exempt from the Do Not Call list. That does not make them welcome by those who equipment is used and whose lives are involuntarily interrupted by these annoyances, for the reasons set out above, among others.

Politicians should find another way to make themselves known and get their messages out.

I don't object to mailed notices, because I can read and discard at my own convenience; I don't object to radio and TV ads, because I can use the remote or click to another station.
Robocalls are an abomination, and smart candidates will find another way of approaching the public.

Facts of life:

Mailed post card = .50 per. impression !

TV, Radio = ?????

Voice broadcasting = .035 per. impression !

Unless one has bungal-ing crony cash or until campaign finance is public or regulated, campaigns become dollars and sense !

PATHETIC !

The Robo calls have got to stop. Winburn calls me all the time, it's making me furious and I'm a Republican. I also got one from Mitch Painter, who sounded angry. Practically yelling into the phone. And Roxanne Qualls keeps calling about the jail tax.

Cinci pols, please this has got to stop!
