Mitt makes a new friend....

So far, it's been pretty hard to find a southwest Ohio Republican elected official who has committed to one of the herd of GOP presidential candidates. They've pretty much been sitting on their hands, which appears to be a posture adopted by a whole lot of potential GOP primary voters as well.

Cincinnati Council member Leslie Ghiz has pledged allegiance to Rudy Giuliani, but it's pretty slim picking after that.

It's most unlike the Democratic side, where you can find plenty of high-profile politicians who have jumped on either the Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama bandwagons.

So, no wonder the Mitt Romney campaign is crowing about an endorsement from freshman State Rep. Shannon Jones, who represents Warren County.

Whether the Jones endorsement will cure Republican timidity about their presidential contest remains to be seen.

Be careful with this... the last thing I would want to see is the City getting sued in Federal Court over this proposal if it becomes law. We all know that Cincinnati does not fare very well in Federal Court casess...

The reason it is the last thing I would want to see is because I would not want the city to have to operate under some sort of Federal consent decree that might make things WORSE.

Is Mitt for real? Or has he been faking things for so long that he doesn't know what real is. I have nothing against his religion or anybodies for that matter, it's his plastic smile and greed that make this corporate titian a dangerous man. He may get some support from the local right wing wackos but he and the rest of the GOP don't have a chance in hell in 2008.

Endorsing anyone running as a Republican is endorsing a sure loser. That's why no local righty pols are wasting their time or political capital on this already-lost election.

Honestly, the Repugs are so unpopular across the country right now that their best strategy may be to nominate the biggest right-wing Jesus Freak nutjob they can find. That way, they'll get a few Bible Belt and Gun Nut states in the south and west. If they nominate the fake moderates Rudy or Mitt, Hillary or Obama would sweep all 50 states.
