More sheriff complaints roll in

More people are jumping on the bandwagon of complaints about Hamilton County Sheriff Simon Leis. These folks, though, are taking their complaints to the state. The same letter was sent to Attorney General Marc Dann's office and Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner's office.

Most of them are members of or have been associated with the No Jail Tax Political Action Committee. However they say they are doing this because they work in the public sector and are concerned.

Read their letter here.

Absurd. its already in court.

And why does the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department need 2 helicoptors, spare parts?

Jessica, I would think that having two council candidates signing that letter would be newsworthy or at least worth a mention on your little blog here. Then again they aren't pro-jail Republicans and this is a pro-jail Republican rag.

Congrats to Michael Earl Patton, Justin Jeffre and the NO Jail Tax PAC for standing up to Leis. Why are Democrats Todd Portune and David Pepper probably maybe complicit in Sheriff Leis' illegal behavior?

My question is: with all these people on the bandwagon, couldn't they find a single person who could figure out who and where they are SUPPOSED to go with these kinds of complaints? Or do they just prefer to run around like chickens with their heads cut off accomplishing nothing but making noise.

Bandwagon: when you decide to drive the bus, ya gotta know where you're going - get yourself a legal map and go to the right jurisdiction --- geez, you guys make Leis look like the brightest bulb in this whole mess.

They forgot to mention Leis illegally displaying his "Support the New Jail" graphic on hcso.org, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office website.

And isn't it sad that we can't rely on the Hamilton County Prosecutor to take care of this, and cannot have other county leaders such as Todd Portune and David Pepper step up and condemn Leis's illegal activities. I guess we know Todd and David only care about the truth or justice when it's politically convenient.

Anon 12:48, that's the whole point. Joe Deters has been notified. He hasn't, and likely won't do anything. Portune turns a blind eye because he cares more about the jail than the law, and Pepper is just taking direction instead of showing any leadership. When the people who should be taking care of cracking down on our criminal "sheriff" at the county level don't do their jobs, where else can people go but the state's top law enforcement officer, and the state's top elections officer?

It's in Court!!!!!! A judge will decide. That's our system.

Everything else is just making noise.

First, Portune and Pepper have no authority or "jurisdiction" to address Leis' conduct (though privately I bet Leis is getting an ear full) - Dirty Deeds Deters, on the other hand, is abusing his discretionary powers and derelicting his duties IF the appropriate complaint has been received by his office and it has not. As to the civil taxpayer action - that was done properly, but the rest of your letter writing campaign just shows you guys know and follow the law about as well as Leis does.
You haven't even filed the complaint inthe first spot it is to go ... gives the appearance you're merely looking for headlines and not really interested in solving the problem--- in other words, it's a publicity stunt .
By the way, nothing is going to happen - there is no net increase in costs incurred with or without the signs, etc. , the only thing is a cease and desist order.

"...First, Portune and Pepper have no authority or "jurisdiction" to address Leis' conduct..."

wRong !

Both Portune and Pepper are attorney's and compelled to obey the code of professional responsibility !

They are officers of the court !

They are elected public servants to watchdog the taxpayers funds !

They are required to report improprieties to the proper authority, PERIOD !

That being said, although we support the team and the safety plan, we have the feeling they both like the county police state !

While OTR may be a problem there is no reason for the majority of stops and illegal searches, PERIOD !

Guilty by location !

Why hasn't there been a major $1,000,000 bust of the money-men involved in the white-collar aspect of the drug trade in the county ( for at least 30 years ) ?

We think there are drug-lords in Indian Hill, as much as, there are banana terrorist funding on 5th Street !

Protection ?

PATHETIC !
