"Quick and Decisive Action"

If you follow Cincinnati politics at all, you've probably heard about the letters to George Vincent. He's the chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party and, if you believe everything you read, his mailbox has been pretty full lately with calls for a thrashing of Chris Monzel because he voted with Democrats to give $800,000 each to the Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati History Museum and Music Hall.

One letter, purportedly from Terry Deters, says the writer is "tired of working for turncoats like Monzel."

Key word here: purportedly. Two of the alleged writers, Westwood activist Mary Kuhl and Price Hill activist Pete Witte, say they wrote no such thing.

"It's a sad forgery," Witte said.

The first giveaway, he said, was that the letter was on "From the Desk of Peter Witte" letterhead. He has no such letterhead.

"I'd be more likely to have a Dilbert cartoon in the corner," he said.

Plus, if he wanted to talk to Vincent, he'd pick up the phone or send him an e-mail. Does he have any suspects?

"I do, but I won't tell you," Witte said. "It's not worth stirring it up."

As for the implication that POWR PAC would withdraw its endorsement of Monzel: "It would be an unbelievable thing to happen. I don't want to speak for everybody, but in my mind Chris Monzel and John Cranley are the most consistent in voting for middle-class values on the West Side."

Others point out that Deters hasn't been active in party politics for some time. They also spotted some handwriting and verbiage similarities, suggesting all the letters came from the same place, and noted that the letters are dated the day after an e-mail from past Blue Chip Young Republicans president Betsy Sunderman that urged members to contact Monzel's office to try to stop him from voting the way he did.

That email contained the sentence "This is not a fiscally responsible."

Two of these letters say that almost that exactly, though corrected to "This vote is not a fiscally responsible vote."

Whoever did write the letters seems to love the phrase "quick and decisive action."

The "Witte letter" says Q&D action "will show the grassroots party activists that you take such egregious abuses seriously."

The "Kuhl letter" says Q&D action "by party leadership will show the community that you care about the concerns of the taxpayer in the neighborhoods."

And again from the letter purported to be from Deters: Q&D action "by party leadership will show the grassroots members of the party that you care about our concerns and you will enforce party discipline."

Party discipline?

Read the whole letters here.

We can see how low some will go to make sure their special interest pet projects get funded. The Slave Center supporters are so ashamed of their position that they have to hide behind other people's names when sending in their form letter to George Vincent. How long did these losers think it would take Mr. Vincent to figure out this scam? 1.5 seconds?

They have to use other people's names because they don't want to embarrass themselves in the public. Accusing Chris Monzel of casting a fiscally irresponsible vote isn't supported by the numbers.

Leslie Ghiz, owned by John Pepper, wants to spend $4 million on the arts, including $1 million to the Slave Center. This has 4 supporters.

Jim Tarbell wants to spend $3.8 million, including $800k to the Slave Center. This also has 4 supporters.

Chris Monzel would spend $3 million, by cutting off funding for the Slave Center. He wants to allow them the opportunity to uphold their promise to survive outside of taxpayer funds.

Who again is being fiscally irresponsible? I can see why the Ghizaholics and others who are owned by John Pepper have to use other people's names when making their fiscally reckless case.

"Party discipline" should have happened months ago when Ghiz endorsed Democrat Pepper over fellow Republican Heimlich. She needed to have her endorsement pulled then.

Earlier, The Whistleblower reported that this was another bullying plot of THE BACKSTABBER (Jeff Berding) and executed by Ghiz and Bortz aides.

i guess they really deserve being called THE FASCIST FOUR (now that Monzel has left the unholy alliance).

these babies need to be kicked off council. they give every reason for Democrats, Republicans and Charterites to come together.

The letters were obviously the brain child of the current lame-brain President of the blue chippers: Scott Gerhing. HE was the one that wrote that e-mail about monzel and had betsy send it. The fact that Ghiz hasnt canned him is beyond me.

I think Scott Gerhing did a fine job with those letters. He should be commended for standing up for the Freedom Center and Ghiz's desire to give it $1 million, which is something Monzel couldn't bring himself to support.

Did Vincent comment? Is he investigating? This shouldn't be the last report we hear from the Enquirer on this topic.

If Vincent does not investigate and then press charges for mail fraud he will officially be proven a joke and a disgrace. Same with Maggie Nafziger.

It looks like the Dems got caught at their own game of deception here. They should try to stay up on who is active in the GOP so they don't trip over themselves when they send a letter from an inactive member.

Too bad the Dems can't seem to be honest about anything. Totally botched this forgery case.

Ghiz and her resident hack, Scott Ghering, were probably behind these forged letters.

HCRP should have pulled Ghiz's endorsement when she endorsed Pepper for Commissioner.

Screw Leslie Ghiz.

The last time I heard of poltically motivated forged documents, it was some Democrat in Texas who fooled Dan Rather with fake National Guard memos.

You mean you don't remember all those concealed contributions for "deters the cheater" ?

You mean you don't remember that performance evaluation at the justice department for fed atty. ?

Appears to be selective wRong wingnut memory to support a weak attempt of spewing the elephant dung schmidt propaganda !

FASCIST FOURGERY VULNERABILITY RATING:

#1-#2-tied-Berding and Bortz. Berding is probably in worse shape, but Bortz came in 8th last time and all his word breaking might get him.

#3--Ghiz. She will be re-elected. But if she keeps doing stupid things with Berding and Bortz AND lets her aides do really stupid stuff, she may hang herself.

#4--Cole. Somebody should make her account for all her bad behavior. But she is probably the safest.

This is so clearly an example of Brad Becket trying to stir up sympathy and support for Monzel. It's an election year, and Monzel has to get his name out there somehow, and he certainly can't do it through his record and accomplishments, so he's continually playing the victim card. Way to go Brad!

Let's see wRong wingnut whacko party discipline would include:

arrest without warrant
habeas Corpus revocation
rendition
interrogation
attorney revocation
intimidation
torture
prison

Then TAXES for larger jails and NO taxes for museums that display the wRong in society !

PATHETIC !

What is POWR PAC going to do about this?????????????????

If Ghiz's Buttboy sent that Blue Chip email to wrongly accuse Monzel on behalf of The Fascists and threaten Monzel with the POWR PAC endorsement with these illegal letters, what does POWR PAC do??

Does Ghiz deserve POWR PAC's endorsement when she is betraying POWR PAC so wickedly??? If she didn't do it, who did her Buttboy take orders from? Berding? It wouldn't be the first time her Buttboy did Berding's dirty work.

Maybe it was another marching order from the actual fifth member of The Fascists -- Tracy.
