Mallory to media: Get out there and shovel
After being grilled at his weekly press conference by television and print reporters over the city's response to snow and freezing rain that has hit the region over the past two weeks, Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory had some advice: Do some real work.
"For as much as the media is out there reporting on snow," the mayor said, "ya'll could be shoveling and plowing."

Well, at least he was seen somewhere!
"....Well, at least he was seen somewhere!...."
What a racist statement !
Keep smiling !
I thought the overwhelming consensus was to sedate this boldfaced blogger.
This item may have been meant as a joke but whenever he's faced with a City Hall deficiency, Mallory calls for more citizen involvement. He's done the same with crime and other issues.
What Mallory tends to forget is that we (the taxpayers) pay you (elected officials and city workers) to perform certain tasks. Stop attending stand-up comedy classes and get to work.
"....I thought the overwhelming consensus was to sedate this boldfaced blogger...."

Typical Mallory response... It's not my fault! You do it!
Gawd, I'm exhausted from volunteering all my free time for the community. Meanwhile, the City still has their hands on my salary for payroll taxes.
What I want to know is exactly when this Mayor is going to get off his duff & start doing some work???
When he's backed into a corner, he passes the buck off on a scant few citizens who do get busy in the neighborhoods.
It would certainly be great if we had a working Mayor. The candy ass we have now has to go.
I find it offensive that the bold guy uses heavy black font when talking about Mayor Mallory.
OK, I give, how is "at least he was seen somewhere" a racist statement?
Mallory has gotten more of a free pass from The Enquirer than any mayor in history.
There is the racism!
"...I find it offensive that the bold guy uses heavy black font when talking about Mayor Mallory...."
Why, are you black like us ?
Give Mallory a break, if you have any suggestions on how to run things differently then why don't you go to one of his "Mayor's nights in" and express them. Everyone needs to stop complaining & actually do something & stop blaming him for things that go wrong because it's not his fault. He is trying to right a lot of the wrongs that have been done for years & years and everyone is expecting him to do it over night.
Anon 5:13,
Way to put in some OT trying to defend your boss' sorry butt, Jason.
This is not Jason......
Mallory can't really do anything because the tax base abandoned Cincinnati years ago. The biggest problem that we are facing now is that the COUNTY is seeing its tax base flee.
It isn't really Mallory's fault. He inherited a problem that is essentially un-fixable.
I only PRAY that the County and City can cooperate now and do so quickly. If not, I'm jumping ship and moving to another part of the state.
Of course there are problems he inherited.
But the most basic thing anyone there should be doing is using their political skills and the new "strong Mayor" powers to get things done through Council. ie. "end the chaos", and create and implement some kind of agenda. That's not even happening--there doesn't seem to be any agenda, and the Council has taken over.
Plus, Mallory ACTIVELY sought out the job of mayor. Stop the whining and get to work.
The tax base left? Take a look at income tax collections, and the Fortune 500 comapnies we still have.
