Brunner names regional representatives

The former executive director of the Hamilton County Democratic Party was among 17 regional representatives named today by Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner. The state jobs pay about $45,000 annually.

Chandra Yungbluth of Springdale will serve Hamilton and Butler counties.

Kathy Jones of Felicity -- a former deputy director of the Clermont County Board of Elections -- was picked to serve Clermont, Warren, Adams, Brown, Clinton, Fayette and Highland Counties.

Jeff Ortega, Brunner's spokesman, said the liaisons will work closely with the boards of elections in their regions, introduce new statewide initiatives, work with community groups to assist with access to voting, and make presentations to raise the public’s awareness of the services provided by the secretary of state’s office.

"I’m very pleased with the caliber of people who will be working as liaisons between the secretary of state, boards of elections and communities throughout the state," Brunner said in a news statement.

I'm impressed with the job Jennifer has done so far - better in just a month than Blackwell was in his entire term.

Yungbluth is going to have to speak in front of people as part of her main responsibilities?

are you kidding? Not only would I not want to look at her, but her voice sucks....she's just not a very good speaker at all

"....make a real contribution to America rather than a low leavel political hack...."

"...are you kidding? Not only would I not want to look at her, but her voice sucks....she's just not a very good speaker at all...."

Typical wRong wingnut whackos spewing the elephant dung propaganda !

Seems they've been the unlawful smoke "blowers" up "finney's fanny" for so long they can't see reality without a pathetic hindlick !

Isn't it amazing how followers have all the suggestions for those who are "LEADERS" !

Does leavel = level ?

Seems the grade school drop-out can only dream of making 22.50 an hour !

PATHETIC !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 !

Yesterday, the House completed the First 100 Hours agenda, with 58 legislative working hours left to spare.

More work has been done for the American people in 42 hours than the previous wRong wingnut whacko Congress did in two years.

Thanks to the mandate our lawmakers received in the election -- and the pressure voters exerted since then -- strong majorities in the House of Representatives...

raised the minimum wage for the first time in 10 years,

required Medicare to negotiate for lower drug prices,

cut student loan rates in half, and

took back $14 billion in handouts to Big Oil to invest in renewable energy.

In every case, these First 100 Hours bills commanded such wide support from the public that significant numbers of wRong wingnuts abandoned their party misleaders and voted for change.

Former Rep. Ney Sentenced to 30 Months

Former Rep. Bob Ney, R-Ohio, the only member of Congress to face criminal prosecution in the Jack Abramoff influence-peddling scandal, was sentenced today to 30 months in prison.

Ney, 52, pleaded guilty in October 2006 to making false statements and conspiracy to commit fraud. He resigned from the House on Nov. 3.

The 30-month sentence imposed by Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle was stiffer than the 27 months recommended by prosecutors. “As a member of Congress, you had the responsibility, above all else really, to set an example and uphold the law,” Huvelle told Ney.

She recommended he be sent to a substance-abuse treatment center at the federal prison in Morgantown, W.Va., a determination that will be made by the federal Bureau of Prisons. Ney was also fined $6,000 and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service in each of two years of supervised release after his incarceration.

PATHETIC !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 !

Chandra Yungbluth was a great asset to the county party. She had a very positive impact during her tenure. I bet the previous posters have done very little themselves to help out the local party. It's easy to criticize. What exactly have you done recently (besides post on blogs that most people don't read)?

Bold Print guy -I'm the one who always sticks up for you when people knock you - but every single time I have had the chance to interact with Chandra - she has proven herself to be dim, unimaginative, lacking initiative, ...
I just think there are a whole lot of people out there more deserving and qualified for that job
I'm very disappointed in some of the appointments I am seeing from the Dems I voted for - very disappointed indeed.
Please excuse the typos

Congratulations ladies. I'm sure that you will both do a fine job for Jennifer Brunner.

I have to agree with one person who posts messages on this site, the House has accomplished more in just a few days than the 109th Congress accomplished in the past 2 years.

The Congresswoman from the Second District is actually going around the District taking credit for the success of the Medicare prescription drug program. She has meetings scheduled in Adams, Brown, Pike and Scioto Counties. Maybe I'll have to go and ask her a few questions about Medicare...

When will the Enquirer be looking into why Kathy Jones is a "former" Deputy Director of the Clermont County Board of Elections?

Yes, Jim - Go to the meetings. Let us know what you see and hear.

I have nothing but high regards for Chandra. She has always been there to help and willing to accept others opinion !

Talk to her about your problems, don't air dirty laundry !

If you're not willing to work within the party, then, don't expect respect when you go public with complaints !

That's any party !

COAST was the down fall of the wRong wingnut whackos !

Sorry, but I refuse to let anyone coast when change is in the air !

I don't care if I'm called out for having a different opinion - in some socieities open debate of differences - are welcomed.

Well, I know that concept is surprising to many, but it is part of democracy and I like hearing another's opinion - believe it or not, --- sometimes we're actually wrong about what we think.

I imagine bold guy is alittle defensive due to all the corruption in this state ( and country)- it'll take a while for people to drop their synicism

"....I don't care if I'm called out for having a different opinion - in some socieities open debate of differences - are welcomed....."

Opinions are fine and welcomed !

Time and place are another issue !

To slam someone when "leaders" have changed the state, the nation for a positive drive away from the "culture of corruption", is arrogance, period !

The voter selected Brunner !

Brunner selected her appointments !

Brunner was a former judge !

Nothing personnel, but, I trust that opinion because it corresponds with the quality of individuals that I have experienced and support !

That isn't to say I've always been in agreement, but, when I was not, I voiced my opinion and it was received graciously !

Therefore, time and place appropriate !

Had you presented arguments that where presented to the claimed individual first, that is a different story !

To claim character flaw when not observed by others, reeks of personal rhetoric !

Hope you appreciate our opinion !

Chandra and Burke are dedicated people but their egos, lack of strategic political issue development and absence of pure guts - have held the democratic party down in Hamilton County.

The "big umbrella" yeh, right?!

Half the people in Hamilton County vote Democrat- yet how many have been welcomed into the Democratic fold - or the progressive movement?

Being good "party players" isn't enough to build or even sustain a movement - riding the coattails of natioinal discord is fleeting -

With all due respect -

"....Chandra and Burke are dedicated people but their egos, lack of strategic political issue development and absence of pure guts - have held the democratic party down in Hamilton County...."

With all due respect, your argument lacks merit !

Hamilton County is the stronghold of the wRong wingnut whacko party !

It was this area that gave bush the presidency both times !

Burke checks his ego at the door !

The Dem party has an uphill battle and Burke was there in the bad times as well as the now, good times !

I have never witnessed an ego from Chandra, either !

Perhaps it is your approach ?

You seem more of a talker than a doer !

We are doers and we don't witness your claims !

Seems you wish to ride the coattails, not the party !

Why ? The party is you !

Make or break it !

We prefer to make it !

Next stop, change the courthouse !

You in ?

I am amazed that people see fit to use this blog to personally attack people, and yet do so anonymously. For people to expect Hamilton County to be a democratic hotbed overnight is ludicrous. There is a reason the rest of the state looks at us as a republican and conservative stronghold- WE ARE THAT. Chandra Yungbluth has served the party with passion and tireless conviction, and it is in a better position to move democratic and progressive candidates and issues forward because of her work. Good luck, Chandra.

.....I find it interesting that bloggers seem to draw a line between Democrats and progressives....."

No one draws a line because there is a wide spectrum of individuals in the Dem party !

There are right to life, connservative, moderate, progressives, etc. !

The Dem party is all inclusive unlike the wRong wingnut whacko party !

PATHETIC !

Chandra Yungbluth has done more for the Hamilton County Democratic Party in the last two years than anyone else.

Under Chandra's leadership, the Democratic Party's HQ was moved from a cramped, inefficient, 3-room space with no parking to a spacious two story office building with off street parking. This alone increased volunteerism and communication between campaigns greatly.

Under Chandra's leadership, the HCDP has filled more precinct executiveships than have been filled in several decades.

Under Chandra's leadership, we now have hundreds of working phone lines for phone banks and have an entire phone bank room in the basement of the HQ.

Under Chandra's leadership, the HCDP forged important alliances with likeminded progressive groups such as Democracy for America, Young Democrats of America, Democratic Forum, Drinking Liberally, and the Progressive Democrats of America. This coalition building was vital.

Under Chandra's leadership, the Hamilton County Young Democrats successfully ran undergraduate college student Brigid Kelly in Norwood and graduate student James Wolf in Mt. Healthy bringing fresh new voices to local politics.

Under Chandra' leadership, the HCDP was victorious in the winning back the County Commission after almost 40 years.

Anyone who thinks she isn't deserving of her new position is an idiot. The HCDP will have a hard time filling her shoes.

I agree with bold print guy on one issue - there is a time and place for this debate - unfortunately, that never comes

If Chandra is this great - then congrats - just not my experiences with her, or Burke for that matter.

Their door is always open !

The majority has either selected the "leader", Burke or the majority has selected the "leader", Brunner, who selected the representative, Chandra !

Guess who was selected and who was not ?

I rest my case !

Next stop, change the court house !

You in !
