Wulsin's poll: Dead even

Feel free to take this with a grain of salt - or low sodium salt substitute for the health conscious - but the 2nd Congressional District contest between Republican incumbent Jean Schmidt and Democrat Victoria Wulsin is starting out as a dead heat, according to a Wulsin poll.

Wulsin's campaign hired Momentum Analysis LLC - whose clients include the Democratic National Committee, Emily's List, Amnesty International and the Coach handbag company - to poll 403 likely 2nd District voters last weekend.

The result: 44 percent for each candidate, 11 percent undecided.

The same poll shows that only two of 10 voters in the district know who Wulsin is, which could be good news or bad news in a dead-heat race.

The Wulsin poll has over half (53 percent) of those polled rating Schmidt's job performance negatively.

Gleeful Wulsin campaign aides, knowing that they have a first-rate fundraising tool on their hands, declined our request for cross-tabs and script for the telephone poll.

Howard, why do you "report" Republican polls as gospel, and Democratic polls "with a grain of salt"?

I doubt if you will ever see cross-tabs or the phone script on this one. This one was pushed to the brink of laughter.

Wow... only 403 people were polled and 101 were actual contacts. Very scientific Vic. Oooooh, that sounds good, Scientific Vic.

I find it amusing that this polling company was a little over indulgent saying it was a tie. If you're a 2nd rate company and you fudge results, be a little reserved and say something like "wulsin gaining steam" or "closer than expected." Does the DNC seriously want to waste the money calling this a "watch" race?

This lady's a marathon runner and campaigner. She's run in and won 3 fullscale elections in the last year. She doesn't lose anymore. You can maybe get close in a sprint (botox bob) but not long distance.

Tip: Vic, don't spend too much time or money. You're just wasting time and money that other candidates nationwide could use.

His education probably came from the farm home school and he received one of those mean jean fake degrees !!

I'll bet that poll is more accurate than mean jeans resume' and more reliable than mean jeans endorsements.

I think mean jean is the only one found guilty of lying by the Ohio elections commission !!

It is easy for mean jean to do a marathon while ridding her broom !!

One thing is certain, Vic is a winner !!

Before you get started calling me a liberal, I must inform you that I’ve voted republican in the last three election and I even voted for President Bush.

It is true that Jean has won three elections is the last year. However, as you may recall she won only by a slim margin, even when she was running against a democrat. It really does not matter how many marathons she has participated in, she cannot out run the latest polls, even with your help. As far as Jean not losing anymore, we should remember that this is a heavy republican district and a very liberal candidate almost won last August. I realize how disappointed you must feel over the latest polls; however, move on and start campaigning for your candidate, as Jean needs to demonstrate some leadership before I cast my vote for her in November. Good Luck!

Wow this is a hard campaign...

Jean says one thing about how she's pro-life and Wulsin isn't she will win this district in a walk. Hackett was a conservative just like Cranley and he ALMOST won.

Jean Schmidt had more votes in the Republican Primary than there were ballots cast in the Democratic Primary for this race.

To say this is suddenly tied, when Rs outnumbered Ds by over 40,000 votes is ridiculous.

Here we go again, Jean has a challenge and her supporters start the name calling and crying, as well as providing many excuses to why the polls are incorrect. Yes this is a republican district; however, it has been evident in past elections that Jean is not popular in the Republican Party. Also, wasn’t Jean recently ranked something like 433 in the house.

Dear Pat Miasz,

My name is Peter Deane and I am voting for Vic Wulsin -- not only because she makes a better candidate then rubber stamp, doesn't practice what she preaches, making money off the abortion issue (Remember Chiron?)... Jean Schmidt.

How soon you all forget! Jean Schmidt is low life scum! Tells people to go and adopt while she buys more poodles and accepts money from organizations that give to pro-abortion organizations... And this comes from a women that was the head of Right to Life! She's sick! Sick! Sick! Sick! Sick!

Get a life? I think that's what Jean Schmidt pretty much said to a decorated war vet on the floor of Congress.

(Doctor) Vic Wulsin, all the way to Washington! At least she practices what she preaches. O, and I might want to add that she has a real degree.

I am so sick of the lies from Jean Schmidt that it makes me want to throw-up on her Chiron lying ass. If only I could I would.

Vote Doctor Vic Wulsin! More then a few degrees above Schmidt!

Yes she was ranked 433rd in the House...but to her defense she had only been there 8 months to receive that ranking. She really contributed nothing worthwhile in legislation; She is only on a couple of committees so no real action to base a ranking on.

And she may have a difficult time sitting on any really meaningful committee due to her embarassing actions last fall, and her attitude towards the backlash she was receiving.

This will be a hard race. Vic is unknown, Jean is known only for her screwups; Vic is openly liberal; Jean is RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT, which sits quite well here in Southern OH.

Polls mean nothing...the only poll worth anything is the day AFTER election day, when all the votes are counted.

No one should sit comfortably by this year.

I realize that you are a Jean supporter and this is just the way you people approach situations. However, I advise against being so angry, as this is not good for your health. How much did your blood pressure increase? I can see the headlines in Sunday’s Enquirer, “Liberal Cowards are to blame for the increase of Pat Miasz’s blood pressure.” I am sure one of Jean’s supporters has a fake therapist degree that you can speak with about your anger issues. On the other hand, you could just join us; we actually did complete all requirements to receive our degrees.

Yes, if she actually worked for her degree, like progressives do, instead of using elephant dung to print a mean jean one, she would have learned that the U.S. Constitution and supreme court rulings protect the right to speak anonymously.

We continually must specially educate wrong wing nut whackos regarding the constitution and free speech:

don't voters know that they are getting played with the abortion factor, the flag, and the gay rights issue. as to abortion - it is in the hands of the supreme court ( or , rather, will be soon no matter what).
IF YOU BASE YOUR VOTE ON ONE OF THESE ISSUES, YOU WASTE YOUR VOTE FOR THE REAL ISSUES.
You can't still be as big of fools as you are hypocrites, can you?

My name is Nate Noy and I filed my FEC forms yesterday to run as an Independent Conservative in this election. I’m from the area and I have spent the last 2 ½ years working as the Director of Government and Legal Services for a non-profit trade association. I’m north of 200 supporters at this point and I have a ton of additional people to reach out to in OH-2 in the coming weeks.

I’m not doing this for myself (I easily could have stayed in Chicago.) I am doing his because 70-80% of the voters will not be even remotely well-represented by either of these candidates.

If you want to learn more you can either watch for my press releases to hit the wire later today, or you can go ahead and check them out on my campaign site: www.noyforcongress.com.

Note that my secondary goal in this campaign is to educate as many people as possible in Southern Ohio on a number of major issues. I also want to assure that the truth comes out regarding a number of serious questions surrounding both major-party candidates. I have published another website to accomplish this goal: www.natenoy.com.

I’m not looking for any money from anyone and I’m not selling a thing. I am a Christian and I do not feel as if either candidate is conveying the message of the Founding Fathers, John Locke or Jesus Christ. If you want to contact me, all of my info is on either website. (Note my team and I also threw up a blog yesterday at: www.natenoy.com/blog .)

Hope to meet most of you over the next few months.

Peace and God Bless,

Nate Noy

Polls mean nothing in the 2nd district. The only thing that will really matter is the outcome on election day. I will be voting for Vic Wulsin and I hope that she wins. Godspeed.

I know the 2nd District better than just about any person alive and I know the type of leadership that people who live here want and need.

Stay strong Vic. This election is about bringing our country back together again. It goes way beyond the Democratic or the Republican Party. FORGET ABOUT POLITICS. FOCUS ON PEOPLE. That's whatr this is all about...

As for those who are still undecided, VOTE THE PERSON, NOT THE PARTY. Cast a vote for your family, not for the greedy, self-righteous politicians in Washington. Washington has sold it's soul to the highest bidder!

A Friend of the People of Southern Ohio...

We are not afraid of your god, we are afraid of what you might do in your gods name !!

God Bless, separation of church and state !!

Those old time drafters knew we would end up in a big pile of schmidt if the government legislated morality !!

In germany it was not moral to have brown eyes !!

I think the wRong wing wackos are confused and trying to cleanse the world of all brown eye !!

Dear Anonymous Friend,

It may behoove you to actually take a look at the platform of an individual prior to labeling them a “bible thumper.”

The following info is posted on my website:

I also believe the Bible teaches us NOT to pass judgment onto others. There are a lot of different churches out there that I believe often miss this critical point. I feel joy in my heart because of my personal relationship with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit; I want others to feel this same joy; but I cannot dictate my beliefs onto them; that is between them and GOD Almighty.

FAQ 7 – Switching to your thoughts on the duty of government; where did you learn this concept?

Nate Noy: Our Founding Fathers relied heavily on the writings of John Locke and the 2nd Treatise of Civil Government when they drafted the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. I have spent a great deal of time studying Locke and I believe he was convicted with the Holy Spirit and provided a number of sound theories under which civil governments should operate.

Locke talked a lot about life, liberty and property. When Jefferson wrote the Declaration it is said that he initially wanted to quote Locke verbatim, but the concept of what Locke truly meant by “property” was not clearly understood by all. Property to Locke was not land per se, rather it is one’s self, and our property is everything about us not just the material possessions which we own.

Hope this clears things up a bit for you. I will say a prayer for you, but I'd never try to force my own morals on you.

To whom ever thinks a "farm home school" is synonomous with a poor education--you should check your facts. Home educated children on average far surpass those in public/private institutions.

Nate Noy--

I hope you don't become the new spoiler in the 2nd district. While Jean as an individual can be reprehensible, she is the candidate of the two that will vote in favor of conservative values (as long as she has conservative leaders to cling to).

The Republican Party is responsible for nominating less than desirable candidates, and that is something to work at stopping--but a third wheel will do far more to harm the party than help it (ie. Ross Perot=Bill Clinton as President!)

Does whom ever = whomever ??

Does syonomous = synonymous ??

Does Home educated = Home-educated ??

Does --you should check your facts = should check the facts as presented (site reference). Unless you agree my comments are fact.

There is no doubt that the basis of anyone's character is formed at home.

Sometime rants are constructed to combat and demonstrate the lack of fundamental knowledge regarding subject matter.

It stimulates dialogue !!

It was not the writers intention to belittle anyone. It was designed to reveal the lack of integrity in mean jean.

If one is home schooled, say so !!

If one has earned a degree, say so !!

Do not LIE !!

Formal, trditional education means very little. Look at the Bill Gates !!

Hey Nate:

Does your god teach you about integrity ?

Does your god teach you about, thou shall not steal ??

Does your god teach you about selflessness ??

Well, in the writers humble opinion:

Nate Noy lacks integrity. He is willing to further his self serving interest by spamming a blog.

The article was about Vic Wulsin, but, Nate invoked his god to self serve and steal the earned headline from the well deserving Wulsin.

Vic worked hard to generate an unbiased poll and the results where published.

To get the wRong wing fishwrap to publish anything positive about a candidate unless elephant dung is all over them is as difficult as keeping Nate Noy from stealing headlines !!

Hat's off to the spin master, Nate Noy !!

It's all about you, Nate !!

Hey, I have a great idea:

Nate, why not make a campaign pledge not to toot your Gabriel horn unless it is your picture and headline story the wRong wing fishwrap decides to publish.

Let's just say that will put you on the right path !!

Sorry for my delayed absence from the board. It’s hard to get a word in edgewise anyway with all of the libel that takes place around here. (For people like the Mr. Anonymous aka BIZJUST4U@hotmail.com ) that’s the written version of slander. Lucky for you I don’t have time during the next few months to subpoena Bill Gates and the boys (non-PC intended this time, I’ve yet to meet a female engineer at Microsoft, although I’m sure there are a few) at MSN and force them to disclose your identity so I can bring a cause of action.

Vic’s base is not that of Bill Clinton. She is a nice lady, but she does not have the natural charisma that a progressive candidate would need to win OH-2, that is of course as long as we assure that her progressive views are made public. As I’ve mentioned on other blogs the last few days, listen to her talk, I think she has been reading a little too much Karl Marx.

Thanks, I am most certainly a proud native of OH-2 and great perception on my intent to get out the vote of the disenfranchised. Had the job I held the previous 2 ½ years existed in OH-2 I would have stayed in a heartbeat, but reality is that Cincinnati is not a hotbed for trade association work.

I firmly believe that reducing taxes, sealing off the borders from illegal immigrants, and eliminating the Bad Actors from our economy is critical for this County to persevere through the next downturn that will naturally come our way as part of the normal business cycle.

I of course also believe more needs to be done to assure the protection of our Constitutional Right to Bear Arms and to protect the unborn from murder(that's what MUST be stopped folks, not Jean.) At least Jean and I can agree on those issues, even if she doesn’t quite seem to get the concept of pure supply-side economics.

I also do not condone the state recognizing gay marriage. Homosexuals have the right as Americans to partake in what the Bible calls an abomination under the eyes of God. However, that is between them and God. It should stay behind closed doors and I should not have to explain to my three young children why there is no mommy in a wedding.

Oh, and by the way folks: when I make a poll public there is only one service I intend to use, a fellow I met at a NAM and BIPAC briefing in downtown Chicago back in 2004 by the name of John Zogby. As far as I’m concerned if the poll doesn’t include the name Zogby or Gallop then there will always be those who naturally question the legitimacy of said poll, admittedly yours truly falls into that category.

Peace and God Bless,

Nate Noy

PS One last note I’ve been pondering. When Jean did her interview with Billy C after the Murtha mess she stated “it’s not like they handed me a rule book [sic].” The truly ironic thing is: not only of course is there a rule book that everyone going into the House should be well versed in: the ETHICS MANUAL FOR MEMBERS, OFFICERS, AND EMPLOYEES OF THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES; but do you all recall who was a major player on the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct? But of course, OH-2’s own Rob Portman. You’d figure that would have come up in at least one conversation between Jean and Rob over the years? Shame on you again Jean; trying to bring Rob’s good name down with your own.
