Summer Break

Recess and summer break isn't just for school kids.

Cincinnati city council and Mayor Mark Mallory are on summer recess, working a scaled-down schedule of meetings for the next two months.

Council will hold only one meeting during the break -- Wednesday Aug. 2 at the Cincinnati Art Museum. It resumes weekly meetings on Thursday, Sept. 7.

Mallory's program called "Mayor's Night In," during whichi citizens can meet with him for up to five minutes, will not be held during summer recess. Nor will the mayor's weekly press briefings.

Mayor's Night In will resume Tuesday, September 12 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Mayor's Office and will continue on a bi-weekly basis.

This is so sad to read. Our City is falling apart, and these guys literally think they get a break like a bunch of kids.

I know Laketa Cole does her neighborhood walks all summer--good for her.

Anon 2:42: you're right. And this blog would be the perfect place for Councilmembers to let everyone know how they plan to spend their summer vacation.

That is a great idea -
Mayor Mallory should start first - and kick off the travelogue -

While we're at it, let's ask Chabot what he does with all his free time, since Congress has only been in session 66 days this year.

Hey! Mr. Mayor! Can you sing the old "Where the boooyyyssss are..." I've seen Chabot at church on Sundays. Comes and goes like he belongs there. No photo ops or press releases touting his attendance.

Since this council has done nothing (anyone noticed that Main Street has shut down in the past couple of months), who will notice a difference?

Mallory is on holiday...has been since he was sworn-in!

I've asked before, but can anyone identify ONE new Mallory initiative? (Not counting bodyguards and bigger staff). Still waiting.
