Wulsin to kick off campaign

Victoria Wulsin, a Democrat running to unseat Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Miami Township, in Ohio's 2nd Congressional District announced today that she'd be kicking off her campaign with an official event this Sunday.

Guests expected at her kick-off include Maj. Paul Hackett, who narrowly lost to Schmidt in last year's special election; Ohio House Representative Catherine Barrett; Cincinnati Council Member John Cranley, a Democrat running to unseat Rep. Steve Chabot, R-Westwood, in Ohio's 1st Congressional District; and former council members Tyrone Yates and David Pepper.

Wulsin also announced the opening of her new campaign headquarters, located at 7440 Montgomery Road in Silverton, and urged supporters to check out her new campaign Web site, which "has been given a well deserved face-lift."

And, like Sherrod Brown's Senate campaign, she too is asking supporters to donate money before the quarterly campaign finance period ends tomorrow (June 30).

"$20 helps - $200 helps a lot. And having you as a supporter is invaluable," she said.

When is Dr. Wulsin going to give straight answers about why she is participating in the Heimlich Institute's illegal human experients on African AIDS patients, as reported in Radar Magazine in December? Why hasn't Dr. Wulsin, a public health specialist, reported the Heimlich Institute, who have violated international human subjects protection laws, to the proper medical oversight authorities? What kind of lawmaker would Wulsin make when she herself participated in criminal activity?

In 2003, the Enquirer broke the story about the Heimlich Institute's illegal human experiments on Chinese AIDS patients. That story went to the NY Times, LA Times, Reuters, and hundreds of other news outlets.

So why hasn't the Enquirer reported the Wulsin-Africa story? Is it because Phil Heimlich is vice president of the Heimlich Institute and that for three years the Enquirer has known about Phil's participation in off-the-books multi-million funding of these illicit human experiments by African gold mining companies, but killed the story?

Ask Phil and attorney Joe Dehner at Frost Brown...and Tom Callinan.

Go Vic!

We need to arrange some head-to-head encounters with the opponent so everyone can see what a smart and capable individual Vic really is.

Congress only has a handful of doctors as representatives, and it would be great to have a medical professional on board.

If the folks in the Ohio 2nd were choosing on real issues like jobs and health care, they would choose Vic -- no question.

Umm, I think Tyrone Yates is also a current State Rep, not just a former City Council member or should former Vice-Mayor.

Yes, it would be good to see and hear Dr. Wulsin debate Jean Schmidt, but we all remember how Schmidt avoided debates, except in a small Brown Co. college, etc., so it's likely that we'll have few chances for such a comparison.

One problem for Wulsin's participation in Heimlich's African AIDS experiments is that she's politically compromised as a result.

Uber-Republican Phil Heimlich is vice president of the Heimlich Institute. Phil has the materials and payroll records detailing her participation in illegal human subjects research. By threatening to release that information, Phil's in a position to manipulate her.

On the other hand, Wulsin has the goods on Phil and his father, too. So they're both playing a game of chicken which can only lead to mutually assured distruction.

Dean, stop posting as anonymous. The comments about Heimlich are variations on your zillion articles on the Heimlichs on your blog. Hey I don't like Heimlich either but there are lots of issues to attack him on, not what his dad ostensibly did.

No one has the goods on Wulsin except for the fact the fact that she maintains high integrity.

Wulsin questioned the validity of the study and was relieved of duty as a result.

She maintains the high road as the institute, on surface, appears to be willing to accept voodoo science ?

at 11:52 PM, July 02, 2006 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Those above who are defending Dr. Wulsin don't know the facts. She didn't quit the Heimlich Institute because she disapproved of the work. She left because reporters learned she was working there and began asking questions.

As Dr. Wulsin is aware, she has an ethical and perhaps legal responsibility to report the Heimlich Institute and Deaconess Associations to the proper oversight authorities for engaging in illicit human subjects research. She has not done so and she needs to explain why she has not.

Phil Heimlich, longtime vice president of the Heimlich Institute, has full knowledge of these matters.

Why isn't the Enquirer reporting this story when a related 2003 story was covered on the Enquirer's Sunday front page, then received widespread international coverage, including by the New York Times?

Actually, the dean is on target. Birds of feather, fruit doesn't fall far from the tree, etc.

Additionally, the Dean's investigative reporting is a breath of relief after decades of the wRong wing fishwrap.

Praise the Lord for the internet, blogs, and all those truth websites !!

Never before is there so much information available to concerned citizens.

I praise the Dean and anyone who dedicates themselves to providing information to the public.

Clearly, the true definition of:

PUBIC SERVANT !!

I presume you're defending Dr. Wulsin because you support her in the current congressional race. Nevertheless, you are wrong and your argument is easily disproved by the following.

Dr. Heimlich's "malariotherapy" quack claims - that malaria can cure AIDS, cancer, and Lyme disease- has been widely denounced for 20 years in medical journals and the popular media. In 2003, Dr. Heimlich and UCLA researchers were caught doing illicit backdoor human experiments on Chinese AIDS patients. The story was reported in two lengthy Enquirer exposes, the New York Times, LA Times, and many other news outlets. To believe that Dr. Wulsin was unaware of all this before she went to work for the Heimlich Institute is naive. She worked for Heimlich because he was paying her $10,000/month. Don't believe me? Ask her.

Want to know more? Dr. Wulsin wrote an unpublished report for the Heimlich Institute. As her for a copy.

Here we go again, the Schmidt campaign refusing to focus on the issues of our district. The Schmidt campaign needs to stick to the issues or this republican will be voting democrat in November.

"L" is so important that the wRong wing fishwrap will use it at their convenience or moderate and remove it at their convenience !!

This mess can't be hung on the Schmidt campaign. Dr. Wulsin has no one to blame but herself because of her involvement with the Heimlichs. She got greedy and didn't think she'd get caught. Well, she did get caught and now she's got to wear it.

If you want to be mad at somebody, be mad at Dr. Wulsin for putting the party and her supporters in the position of having to pretend to ignore this dead elephant in the living room. She foolishly chose to get mixed up with the Heimlichs in the first place and she should have told the truth before she accepted the nomination to run for Schmit's seat.

The Heimlich medical fraud stories have been building around the country for over a year. Did Dr. Wulsin think she wouldn't be scrutinized further about her involvement? She's either in denial and/or hopes everybody else is.

Well, everybody else isn't.

Typical wRong wing nut that doesn't know schmidt !!

This is a non-story, fueled by a desperate wRong wing campaign !

Wulsin, checked the data and found questionable conclusions; therefor, produced her findings and was asked to leave in the standard wRong wing nut, shoot the messanger, fashion !

Wulsin is on the high road !

Any doctor that would not explore the possibilities to rid the world of the effects of disease is not a doctor, but, a money machine !

Wulsin is the one with integrity in this one !

Human trials happen every day, period !

The USA just requires extensive assurances, rightfully so !

However, when you are dealing with the devastation of aids in a country where the disease is rampid, the regulations might be more lenient ?

If it had produced a cure, she would have be labeled a hero !

Instead, she saw the phony science, reported her findings and moved forward with integrity !

I don't think she has ever lied about anything especially her degrees !!

To the above poster who seems intent on shouting down any criticism and discussion with boldface type and exclamation points:

You know nothing about human subjects research nor do you indicate any curiousity about the subject, but never mind that. Let's test your claims. You believe Dr. Wulsin's behavior and motives are noble and pure as the driven snow. In that case, write an e-mail to Dr. Wulsin and post it here (without your name if you prefer). Just ask her to provide you with a copy of her report. (I already have a copy, but since you have so many opinions, perhaps you'd find it interesting.)

Given your unwavering devotion to Dr. Wulsin, I don't expect you to follow through with that suggestion. Therefore, feel free to commence shrieking.

As you may recall, Jean did not lie about having a fake degree, she simply thought she had one. Jean also thought that she took and passed the praxis test to become a teacher. She believed this so much that she included it on her resume.

Nobody cares about your bias claims, period !!

The only scoop you have is at the ice cream shop you dip at !!

God bless that we have you, the chosen one with all the answers !!

Are you a doctor ??

Are you running for office ??

No, you are the secret messenger of the propaganda code !!

Tell your story to the wRong wing fishwrap, we are certain they will publish anything to suppress voter choice !!

Now, just moveon !!

You dunce, the Enquirer knows all about it. They won't print it, not because they love Wulsin, but because they're protecting Phil Heimlich. In other words, your angel Dr. Wulsin gets protected because of
a Republican who's Lindner's boy.

If you'd stop shouting for a minute and try thinking, you might learn something.
