Would someone please remind me again when Mayor Luken's choice for City Manager was put through this? I can't remember the Valerie Lemmie inquisition by City Council.
It's not that you can't remember, it's that she and no other Manager selection has had to go through anything like this. Luken selected Lemmie without any involvement from Council. None. Once he announced his selection, he told Council that they could interview her -- one by one -- and set up the interview times. If Council couldn't make it, they wouldn't interview. The day after the interviews, Luken called for the vote and Council, without objection, voted. Coincidentally, there was no public interview when Rager was voted in by Council as Acting Manager(probably because people would have heard about all of the discriminatory practice complaints filed against him as Director of Water Works).
Amen to the last post. This council thinks they're REALLY special and should weigh in on EVERYTHING. So much for their bogus claim at their swearing in that they'd work together and end the acrimony.
Seems to me that its the SAME THREE that feel they are "REALLY" special-- Ghiz, Berding and Bortz. They seem to scream whenever Mallory tries to do what a mayor should do. I say the next election we show them how strong WE are and vote them out.
