Schmidt ad now on TV

Rep. Jean Schmidt's re-election campaign just announced that her first TV commercial of this year's campaign hit the airwaves at 7 a.m. today.

"Beginning today the voters of the second district will begin seeing the first of a series of television commercials featuring Jean Schmidt," her campaign announced in a release e-mailed to reporters.

"We are very happy with the way the spot has been received by the public as well as our supporters," said Schmidt campaign manager Allen Freeman.

The 30-second biographical spot starts with Schmidt sitting in an easy chair talking to voters about things important to her: "My faith. My family. My community. My country. Those are my priorities."

The ad jumps to a shot of her walking down a wooded lane with husband Peter and daughter Emilie. On the screen are the words: "Lifelong Ohio resident."

Schmidt is then shown on her family farm in Clermont County with her husband as her voice continues: "This is where I grew up, where I learned the values that shape my life: Work hard, pray hard and give it your best shot. That's all anyone can ask."

The ad cuts to Schmidt at her desk writing, reading and talking on the phone.

She is then shown working with her staff, as she says: "Some people try to avoid political labels, and they don't tell you everything about a person. Still, I'm always proud to let you know - I'm a conservative."

On the screen are the words "proven conservative."

The ad ends with Schmidt telling viewers that she approved the spot.

Schmidt's opponent in the GOP primary May 2 is Bob McEwen, a former congressman from southern Ohio. McEwen released a radio ad a few weeks ago but has not yet gone up on TV.

Proven conservative? Isn't that the slogan the proven adulterer Pat DeWine used in his campaign?

Great TV ad Jean! This is the kind of stuff we should be seeing in the campaign not the negative BS that McEwen/COAST has been featuring. It's about time someone started focusing on the issues! Good Job!

I can never seem to find the remote control when I need it...

I went to the Anderson Township Republican Club website at www.andersonrepublican.org website and downloaded the questionnaires.

Schmidt did say on the questionnaire that she is against the death penalty. But I understand in 2005 and even this year she told the Cincinnati cops she was for the death penalty. Which is it Jean? This is another lie, but to who? Or is she both for and against the death penalty? Or maybe she was against it before she was for it (Schmidt reminds me of Kerry) LOL!

I also downloaded the questionnaires today. I like the Schmidt response where she circled that she is both for and against admitted homosexuals in the military. How can you be both for and against something? Good old Schmidt double-talk yet again. Keep tellin' them ignorant voters what they want to hear Jean!

McEwen could run his entire campaign focusing on Schmidt's responses to the questionnaire.

It's too obvious to pick out the comments from the Schmidt campaign staff.

As for the ad:

Zzzzzz. "Proven conservative?" What a laugher.

A proven conservative doesn't vote for the largest tax increase in Ohio history, Jean. Go back to your farm.

I'd rather see Jean live at a couple real debates, like the one she blew off in Anderson. People don't really learn much from a TV ad.

Jean, pleaase have the courage to debate!

McEwen has to use debates and FREE venues because he has no financial support. Except for himself that is. He hasn't been on TV and we won't see him on TV because he's got less money than Jim Parker (just kidding, but you get the analogy, no one could have less money than Mr. Parker.) Oh well I'm sure that McEwen just wrote a few bad checks, invited a bunch of old hags to his fundraisers that feel like $100 is a big donation, and is supported by a bunch of tight wadded extremists (COAST) that wouldn't give the state and extra penny even if it meant bettering a k-12 education, and that's why he's in the hole. Oh yea, I hate COAST.

COAST- Defenders of the public against stupid, greedy, malicous politicians. Lean Jean the Screaming Queen of Mean, supported a 3.8 billion dollar increase in spending in the Ohio House for medicaid. That made a 9.1 billion dollar budget total for medicaid. In that bill , she advocated and got passed a provision so that Ohioans now pay for empty beds in nursing homes. Great job Jean! The medicaid budget under your leadership, vice chair of the committee, was the same size as the entire state budget under Dick Celeste. remember him? Dick Celeste before he dicks you!
Vote for McEwen, he is a better choice. Who wouldn't be a better choice? Even Debbie kraus is a better choice!
