A dash of Pepper

The Democratic primary for the Hamilton County Commission race isn't for two weeks, but already David Pepper is acting like he's won.

Pepper, who is vying with former Forest Park mayor Stephanie Summerow Dumas for the Democratic nod in the election, already has announced two special events to help him defeat incumbent Republican Commissioner Phil Heimlich -- and both are to be held before the May 2 primary.

First, Pepper will hold an open house for his volunteers from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, April 27 at his new campaign headquarters at 6109 Webbland Place in Pleasant Ridge.

Two days later, he will host a literature drop with other Democratic campaigns from 9-10 a.m. at his new headquarters, followed by a 1 p.m. cookout.

Uh, oh, Kimball! Brace yourself for the onslaught of angry Dumas supporters!

When David Pepper was running for mayor -- that was before he ran for State Senate and lost -- he published an endorsement on his website from Wendell Walker, an admitted child molester. To date, the Cincinnati Enquirer has never written a complete story explaining the connection between Walker and Pepper.

On the other hand, the Enquirer published a story today about the connection between Dale Mallory and Howard Beatty.

If the Mallory/Beatty connection is newsworthy, why isn't the connection between Pepper/Walker?

Comments from:

1) someone advocating murder; and

2) someone who mocked the image of a murder victim as he lay dying on a sidewalk, and defended that murder.

How far is Cincinnati falling!

So the question is, will Staphanie Dumas renounce the endorsements of lunatics like Nate Livingston and Jason Haap?

Nate Livingston: he published an endorsement on his website from Wendell Walker, an admitted child molester.

This is a lie and a smear. Your post implies that Pepper tacitly approves of child molesters. As soon as Pepper found out about Walker, he removed Walker's endorsement from his site. What exactly are you suggesting Pepper should have done, gone on TV and denounced the man? Are you suggesting that Pepper wanted the endorsement of a pedophile? Your comment is idiotic from every perspective.

This is a cheap shot and an ugly attempt by you to create guilt by association. It's irresponsible statements like this that keep you marginalized in Cincinnati politics.

If you don't like David Pepper for his politics, so be it. But this is garbage that is beneath contempt.

I'm glad Pepper isn't focusing on Dumas or the Dum(b)as supporters. Dumas screwed the Dems when she refused to make a decision on whether she would run against Dewine 2 years ago.

I did not support Pepper for Mayor because I felt that Mallory was a better candidate. However in this race their is no question that Pepper is the best candidate, and the only one who will be able to compete with baldy in the general election.

Regardless of how you feel about Pepper or Dumas, this post raises a valid point-that Pepper is assuming he'll be the Dem running for commissioner. Other candidates in other races were gracious enough not to make assumptions even when their opponents were incredibly bizarre. C'mon, Sandra Queen Noble, the old shoemaker and the other old coot who ran for mayor all were allowed to participate at debates, etc.

What makes Pepper better, his Convergys money?

More bias from the Enquirer.

Can you say BOYCOTT!

"There's only one place that Pepper and Heimlich belong: the cemetery."

This clown with this Cincinnati's Alternative Black Voice has been making violent threats all day. Dean has deleted the vile hatred from his blog,as he always does.

Is anyone going to stop this individual? Is the Enquirer going to ashcan the threats? Regardless, I've made copies of all his threats & will act upon them accordingly & within the realm of the law. This individual must be stopped.

It looks like Pepper is working to WIN the primary -- why else is he doing an organized canvassing prior to the primary.

If he were taking it for granted, he wouldn't be doing anything.

If my comment constituted a lie and a smear, what did the Enquirer story on Dale Mallory constitute?

If my post implied that Pepper tacitly approves of child molesters, what did the story on Dale Mallory imply?

You "Puppets for Pepper" are too blind to see that the Enquirer has gone out of it's way to trash the Mallory family and protect the Pepper family. David Pepper's supporters haven't gotten over the fact that Mark Mallory crushed him last November so they are trying to take it out on his brother. David Pepper's people wrote a press release and encouraged the Enquirer to write the negative story on Dale. You Puppets for Pepper are too warped to demand that the Enquirer show fairness to all people and candidates. I suspect that's why you never directly addressed the point I raised in my comment: if the Mallory/Beatty connection is newsworthy, why wasn't the connection between Pepper/Walker?

Let's turn your questions to me around and ask them to the Enquirer. What exactly is the newspaper suggesting Dale Mallory should have done, gone on TV and denounced Howard Beatty? Are they suggesting that Mallory wanted the endorsement of an alleged shooter, even if he was engaged in self defense?

If my comment was a cheap shot and an ugly attempt to create guilt by association, what was the Enquirer story on Dale Mallory?

It's your refusal (and David Pepper's) to face the truth that keeps him marginalized and unable to move beyond City Hall.

If you and the Enquirer don't like Dale Mallory for his politics, so be it. But the story on Dale Mallory was garbage that is beneath contempt. Too bad you Puppets for Pepper are too selfish and self-absorbed with your candidate to call the Enquirer to task for their story on Dale Mallory. If they'd done a similar one on Pepper, you'd be vocally outraged.

It's not Pepper's fault he was unanimously endorsed by the democratic party over Dumas. Kimball, it's called REPORTING. Try it. If you were good enough to be the editorial page, you would be.

Pepper isn't "hosting" the canvassing and cookout-Portune and the Ham.Co. Dem Party organized and are hosting. His HQ is in space at the new Dem HQ, so he's just tagging on to what the party's doing.

There goes Livingston again rambling as always. I heard that Beatty doesn't even know how to read. Is that true? You would have thought that he had to fill out an application for a position that would be working with millions of dollars... I'm glad the cartel is begining to show it's true colors and Livingston is very close to the those that have brought violence to the steps of City Hall... And we listen to that fool? Hey Livingston stop crying and go stick up for the dropouts at the library... don't forget to bring your Bullhorn... your a joke!

Sorry Dumas... Livingston is all yours and Heimlich can have him too!

Vote David Pepper... let's get this county on the right road again.

"David Pepper's supporters haven't gotten over the fact that Mark Mallory crushed him last November"

Huh? Where did Nate get his facts on this? The results wasn't a "crusher", nor was it even close to being such a thing.

Crush. Oh please. Nate, go smoke your weed & play with your bullhorn. You're finished in this town anyway.

Pepper didn't organize the canvass & is not a host. He's renting space for his campaign in the Dem HQ and is tagging on to the party's canvass, which is for all endorsed Dem candidates.

More unfair and unbalanced coverage from the Republican rag.

Nate Livingston: If my post implied that Pepper tacitly approves of child molesters, what did the story on Dale Mallory imply?

Livingston has a reputation for calling out others for not taking responsibility for their words or actions. But when he gets caught in an obvious smear, he changes the subject and justifies his own wretched behavior using the childish argument "well, the other guy did it."

Livingston has been known to report worthwhile information and to raise interesting questions, but too often he is his own worst enemy. But he doesn't seem to want to improve his skills as a reporter or thinker. It's absurd for him to expect others to take him seriously when he doesn't take himself seriously.

If he strived to be the smartest person in the room rather than the loudest, he'd be the better man for it - and he'd do better work as a reporter and commentator.

Anon12:10, Livingston is well known for blatantly ignoring the corrections others give him, especially when he erroneously identifies a target for psycho hatred as White, when in actuality, they are black. Then there's dead silence on the line.

No one takes him seriously. His black bullhorn blog is a source of hilarity. He's never posted thought-provoking ideas, it's lies & slander - the Clermont County gun permit, for instance.

Livingston can't strive to be the smartest man. That's beyond his reach. He's always been a loudmouth & always will be. He's the joke of the town.
