Hackett: Brown campaign spread rumors

Read the story in today's Enquirer about Hackett's claims made on MSNBC's Hardball here.

Also, seems at least one publication is already pushing Hackett to run for president.

This is politics at its finest. Elections decided by Washington insiders. When will the silent majority say enough?

Waaaaaa.

I am taking my toys and going home.

Memo to Hackett: if you cannot stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

This is for everyone calling Hackett a sore loser:

How can someone be a sore loser if they haven't lost anything? If Hackett was pulling this stuff after the primary I would agree, but unfortunately Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid were the only ones who voted in the Ohio Democratic primary for Senate. He was screwed. Brown flip-flopped on running. Do all of these Brown supporters who are bashing Hackett think that Hackett's suporters are going to line up behind Brown with this kind of talk?

Hasn't lost anything? Didn't Paul lose to Jean Schmidt last August? Hasn't Paul lost the respect of many Democratic voters? Didn't Paul lose the support of leaders of the Democratic party who forced him out of the race?

Hasn't Paul lost his political future?

I guess, you're right. Paul will always have a job with the rest of the winners in President Gore's administration.

glad somebody finally called hackett out for being a thin-skinned baby on this. sorry, but "politics ain't beanbag." hackett deserves great credit for his marine service. he gets it in bunches.

however, he is not a credible political candidate because he doesn't play the game well. his loose-lipped, shoot-from-the-hip style works for his 15 minutes of fame, but would not endure against a very well educated, well funded, experienced legislator like Sherrod Brown. Everyone in DC and in the dem party knows that. Hackett is a flash-in-the-pan with no real legislative agenda or record of accomplishment.

mr. hackett: the senate is the most important legislative body in the world. it's not for amateurs. you are a political and governmental amateur. try a State Rep. race...

What I don't understand is simple: If he wanted to keep saying these things and "taking on the party," then why not stay in the race and do so?

If he would have done this while campaigning then his anti-establishment message would have some meaning and purpose. Now it is only going to help ruin the Democrats, leaving them even more disenfranchised and underrepresented.

This type of behavior seems to give more weight to those who feel Hackett was just a Republican running with a Democratic title. I'm sure all of this anti-Democratic rhetoric is an unbelievable aid to the DeWine campaign and the GOP. Again, staying in the race and taking on the party is a much stronger and productive statement then leaving and tearing EVERYONE down.

If this keeps up DeWine will probably win-- but Hackett will get credit for the assist.

I follow politics very closely, but I never heard the "rumors" until Hackett went all over the airwaves complaining. Funny to hear him and Bill Cunningham talking today...both on the same side: Beating up on Sherrod Brown. I hope Hackett does run again, so I can vote for his opponent.

Don't you people have anything else better to do than bash Hackett? I love politics too, but youg guys are just sad. Paul Hackett is a great person, who made it clear that he entered politics for the leadership. Sure you can argue that hes giving up, but I doubt you even know about the pressure and frustration that goes on behind the scenes.
