Ad watch: Mallory's 'Morning in Cincinnati'
AD: "Morning in Cincinnati," a 30-second television ad for Mark Mallory for mayor. Began running Tuesday morning. Produced by 779 Ltd.
SCRIPT: Female Announcer: "Our city's been falling behind. Cincinnati needs new leadership: Mark Mallory, a proven leader with the experience to bring people together and make our city great again. The Enquirer says Mark Mallory is 'a leader, able to focus on the big picture.' That's why Mark Mallory is endorsed by Republican and Democrats, as well as police, firefighters, labor and business groups. Mark Mallory will be a mayor for all of Cincinnati." Mallory: "I'm Mark Mallory, and I'm asking for your vote, on Nov. 8."
VISUALS: Against a backdrop of the downtown skyline, Mallory is shown in video clips talking to residents and working in Columbus. At the end, he talks straight into the camera. Key phrases: "Proven leader." "'A leader able to focus on the big picture' -- Cincinnati Enquirer, 9/11/05." "Endorsed by former Mayor Roxanne Qualls, former Senate President Stanley J. Aronoff, former Senate President Richard Finan." "Endorsed by City Beat, Sentinel Police Association, African-American Firefighters Association, Cincinnati AFL-CIO Labor Council." "Mark Mallory for Mayor, November 8."
FACT CHECK: The Enquirer quote comes from his pre-primary endorsement, when the newspaper endorsed both Mallory and his opponent. The newspaper endorsed David Pepper in next Tuesday's election. Mallory does have endorsements from prominent Republicans and Democrats, but the assertion that he's "endorsed by ... police (and) firefighters" has led to complaints from the police and fire unions, both of which endorsed Pepper, that the ad is misleading. The graphics in the ad, however, disclosed that the endorsements were from groups of black police officers and black firefighters.
STRATEGY: With a relatively small budget for television advertising, Mallory's ad appears with just a week left in the campaign. It's a positive ad that conveys Mallory's Statehouse experience and broad support. And it didn't cut corners on production value, even though it was essentially produced in-house by a company led by Mallory Development Director Dan Phenicie.
RESPONSE: "Sometimes positive ads can be just as misleading as negative ads, and clearly Mark Mallory's ad is misleading," said Pepper campaign manager Greg Landsman.

David Pepper doesn't like the ad because it is effective.
I'm going to get a copy of any complaints filed against Mallory and use the exact same wording to file complaints against David Pepper, Chris Monzel, and John Cranley who aren't endorsed by either the Cincinnati Police Department or the Sentinel Police Association.
"Sometimes positive ads can be just as misleading as negative ads, and clearly Mark Mallory's ad is misleading," said Pepper campaign manager Greg Landsman.
What is Landsman talking about? This ad isn't misleading. Then again, Landsman would know a thing or two about deceptive ads.
Landsman is such a used car salesman....his little grin just adds to it
"His little grin," eh?
The number of Landsman admirers continues to increase.
No one likes Greg Landsman more than Greg Landsman.
Did we offend the Republican Enqueer !
Oh yes, he is a legend in his own mind ! They won't admire after his divisiveness earns a plus in the loss column.
Why does Mallory keep using that red-haired women in all of his ads, both tv and mail? I don't know her, but I've heard bad things about her from lots of people.
Claiming endorsements from the Enquirer, police & Republicans may be valid but are misleading and unethical.
My support for this guy is dwindling.
It doesn't matter. Everyone knows the Republican Enqueer is not worth the rag it is printed on. No one in Hamilton County values their one sided positions.
Yeah, nobody except the, like, 300,000 people who pay money to have it delivered to their doors every day. Except for those people, nobody cares what the Enquirer says.
They buy it for the ads, sports page, not content. There are 536,000 registered voters. So, only 55% of voters, but, the majority population of deliveries don't even vote ! Just look at this blog. Out of your so called 300,000 only maybe 9-10 post comments. Great example of relevance.
Yea, I think her name is Denise....she's annoying
Im confused...
so Mallory is comparing himself to... ... ... Ronald Reagan?
You have been up to late. You better get some sleep.
What's the obsession with Landsman? It seems everyone has a crush on him. Why don't you move on to someone more interesting? How hot does Livingston look in his picture?

I see how this works.
David Pepper honors Marge Schott and associates with Westwood Concern but this isn't news; Mark Mallory accepts the endorsement of the Black Fist and it's news for a month.
Pepper's flip-flop on eliminating the city manager form of government in replacement for an executive mayor isn't news; but Mallory's mistake on executive mayor is news.
I can't believe that everyone jumped all over David because he didn't have the word "for" before Mayor in his ads, but you don't see anything wrong with this?!?!?!
Having the voice over claim that he is endoresed by police is incredibly misleading and a lot more intentional than the issue with David's commercial.
When you take a step back and look at the big picture, I'm not sure that either of them are going to do much for the Cincinnati Bengals or Reds. Deion Sanders for mayor!!!
Penn Station has a philly cheese special for 2.99. I am sure both Mallory and Pepper would enjoy eating one (or two). Delicious!!!
They only have a lock on the corrupt ones.
The "Favor Our People" group gave the Convicted "Taft" appointed Allen a blatant misleading piece of paper stating that one of the reasons they support Allen is because Allen has consideration for officers time in court.
Well, it is a standing joke at the court house if you ask anybody
"Was Allen on time for court today ?"
The "FOP" didn't think that the Cincinnati Bar would really tell the truth, but, the Bar stated:
"..... some expressed concerns about her punctuality"
Allen then tried to blame that dirty old adulterant for being late.
Well, the day the post article ran, Guess What ?
Allen was "Late for Court Again".
At least the voter has a choice this election and I hear the victor will be:
Jonathan Dameron
It will be nice to clean the Courthouse of that filthy "Allen Name."
So at 652 and 832 Chris Slimebook was not working for Crowley but diddling on the line? Can't David do better than have his people be vindictive to people that support Crowley and others? Or is David aware that people are turned away by his staff lazy boys?
You must not read your own posts or still dropping acid. They are in response to your posts.
The republican enqueer has no honor !

I support Mark Mallory. The ad is really bad, though. This ad, coupled with Pepper's over-the-top spending will lead to a Pepper victory. Mark Mallory LOOKS terrible in this ad. Thin and WEIRD. Sorry, Mark. He looks BAD in the final shot.
Funny, I think Mark looks great in the last shot. He IS thin, vs Pepper's pasty dough boy look-when Pepper told Ch.9 he had a personal trainer I wanted to say he needs to get his money back.Pepper is not aging well on the campaign trail...
Mark Mallory looks "Great", poised, sharp, and not like "Chicken Little Pepper" as Pepper frantically screams;
"I'm losing the election !"
"I'm losing the election !"
"I'm losing the election !"
Look, it is mean old "Nate's" fault.
Get your:

Crying Towel "David" as Senator Mallory teaches you how to be a leader.
That is real smart. Don't vote, don't voice your opinion.
I hate to quote "Ramsfield", but, you go to war with the army you have !
After all, there is only about 10 people who blog here and 9 work for the Republican Rag.
If we tolerate you. We certainly can tolerate someone we vote for
How can the Enquirer be both Republican and "queer"?
Is it a Log Cabin Republican?
And how odd is it that Nate keeps calling Pepper and the Enquirer "gay" when a certain other candidate is known by anyone who matters to have lots of sugar in his tea?
Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.
It just shows how either clueless or hypocritical any Mallory-supporting homophobe is.
The link is easy.
Both are seductive behind closed doors, but, when revealed found repulsive by the majority.
