Eby For State Rep? He Says No

Westwood Republican John Eby, who twice ran for City Council, will be at the St. Catharine's church festival tonight. Check in or around the beer booth.

Where he won't be, he says, is in the race for state representative against Denise Driehaus. Somewhere on this blog or another, someone suggested he might replace Scott Gehring, who got out of the race last week, citing a family issue.

Today at the kickoff of Cincinnati's Neighborhood Enhancement Program in Westwood, Eby said there's a host of reasons why the campaign job wouldn't be for him. First, that he's friends with Driehaus and likes her.

We are sad in Westwood that John Eby will not run. You can like the opponent, but this does not mean you cannot run against her. John is the best person for this job! He could beat CHILDERS (uses Driehaus for an advantage) in this race. She is useless just like her brother in the politically arena.

John, please reconsider! Politics have nothing to do with friendship. They have to do with getting the job done. We need a GREAT REPUBLICAN to represent our District and you could be it!

The Republican Party should BEG JOHN EBY to run for Ohio District 31st House Representative.

Please get someone in the race who beat out Denise (Driehaus) Childers. The Driehaus family needs to be oust of all political seats. They do not represent the Westside at all.

Eby knows he would get his butt kicked thoroughly.

So does every other Republican with even half of a brain.

The COAST cabal destroyed the political career of the only viable candidate who could have won that district.

Gosh, a wRong wingnut whacko with ethics !

No wonder he has cross-party line appeal !

Eby's too smart to run, he knows that he will get his *ss kicked by Driehaus.

Thanks COASTer's, you handed this race to Driehaus. With 'help' like yours, Chabot might as well drop out now.

COAST had nothing to do with Scott Gehring dropping out. They don't have that much power!

No, Scott Gehring destroyed his own short-lived political career. See that other Enquirer blog post on Gehring the dropout for the behind-the-scenes story.

My understanding is that Gehring is out of the race because he has made so many enemies within the GOP that it wasn't even likely he would get any Republican votes against Driehaus.

Anon 4:17 I'm the Cheviot Idiot and I endorse this paid political announcement for Driehaus.

Excuse me.I'm confused. Who is Mizz Childers? Is that Mizz Driehaus? Is she related to former Attorney General Mark Dann's partying pal from Price Hill, Steve "Little Hands" Driehaus? Did she get money from Mr. Dann, too? Where does she stand on this latest sordid tale of sexual harassment and adultery? Has she stood up for those young ladies, who, through no fault of their own, might have "gone wild' after having been plied with the demon rum by their Democrat molestors? Where is that press release? The West Side is waiting.

Typical wRong wingnut whacko spewing the elephant dung propaganda !

We thought misleading judge Lisa and adulterating, 'crooked crony', Michael Allen had patched their phony relationship !

Once again, it's XXX judge Tryintofoolyou !

PATHETIC 'family values' !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2008 !

Steve Driehaus is a joke. His sister will serve our community much better than he did.

The GOP had a young, hardworking, idealistic candidate for this seat. Sadly, Judge Alex is more interested in placating six bald fat angry guys than he is in making this a competitive race. The COAST Cabal forced Gehring out of his race because he has had the courage to stand up to them and reveal them for what they are: bitter, angry, hateful, sad men who think reading right-wing websites and parroting Limbaugh and Hanity make them political consultants or experts.

Denise Childers will be just as bad as her brother Steve Driehaus. The only improvement is she won't be hitting on girls with Dann, I trust her at least that much.

Unfortunately we Democrats will now have a more competitive race. Now that Gehring is out of the race the GOP has a chance to find a candidate who can make a race of this.

Poor little Jeffy Capell; he knows that the GOP is Toast, and all he and his little Hitler's Youth minions can do about it is CRY!!!

Hey everybody - it looks like disgraced former staffer and political never-was Scott Gehring crawled out from beneath his rock to chime in at 6:08 PM. Or did you have your sockpuppet of a spouse Jen Winkelman do your dirty work again?

Hey Scott, ever wonder why Jen hasn't taken your last name? It's because she doesn't want to be tagged as a loser for the rest of her life!

COAST didn't have anything to do with your dropping out of the race, Scott. Why don't you tell everyone what the REAL reason was?
We're waiting...

Still waiting...

This item will be posted every so often so that future generations do not mistakenly think that Scott Gehring has a political future.

John Eby is a smart man. Denise Driehaus owns two small businesses in Price Hill and knows the westside issues well - just like John. She will represent us well.

at 2:14 PM, May 19, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

No, she won't. I don't trust anyone named Driehaus.

at 10:41 PM, May 19, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

John Eby is a regional candidate (Westwood) and Westwood is no longer Republican. Eby ran an OK Council race but was doomed just by being a Republican. Eby. Harris (Dem) and Pavelish (1st timer) seemed to be the only Council candidates running for the right reasons.

at 12:24 PM, May 20, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Holy crap, Westwood is no longer Republican? That means we might get two Driehauses? I can't wait.
As for Eby, dog-catcher maybe.

Steve Chabot will take one of the Driphaus candidates out. Hopefully someone else steps up to take out the other.

Have you taken a good look at Westwood lately? A beautiful neighborhood ruined by sec. 8 housing.
You should vote for the Republicans to come back and straighten up the disaster.

Leave my poor Scotty alone!

at 6:37 PM, May 20, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

The republicans who ran the Met. Housing for years CAUSED all of the Section 8 housing in Westwood 4:06. The Dems have had to clean up the reTHUGlican's mess. Again.

Don't you love the way that Wingnuts try and make up their own set of facts, over and over again?

at 10:01 PM, May 20, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

6:37 I'm not a Wingnut. When are your Dem buddies going to clean up my street? If you are stating the truth, your boys have some heavy duty work ahead. Will you call them for me?

at 10:26 PM, May 20, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

The criminals and degenerates in section 8 housing are not responsible for their terrible neighborhoods. It's society's fault! And Bush's!!

10:26 speaks exactly like a brain washed liberal.
We haven't been attacked on US soil since 9-11. Thank you Mr. Bush.
