Local Rep calls Obama "boy"

Pat Crowley has the story here

Big deal. Compare Davis' unintentional politically incorrect slip of the tongue to the hate-filled, intentionally racist bombast of "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright, Barack Hussein Obama's mentor, and Davis' blooper pales into insignificance. But watch the MSM go nuts with this one. Why? Because Geoff Davis is a Republican.

at 4:04 PM, April 14, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

I don't think the Congressman meant to demean Obama in any way.

No, an apology is not in order. His reference to "boy" is probably because Obama is much younger than Davis.

He probably said the same thing about Al Gore in 2000 and would have been correct. Or, for example, an oldester like George H.W. Bush could refer to Gore or Kerry as "boy" with no insult intended.

Remember this - if Obama waits until he is McCains age to run for the President, it will be 2032. That young man has a lot to learn.

Plus, he is WAY too liberal.

Both he and Hillary have hidden tax agendas that go much further than allowing the Bush Tax Cuts to expire. Neither will discuss them. Neither will be specific on Social Security.

To anonymous 3:27 -- No. The difference is that Davis' "slip" belies his normal racist thought patterns. And Davis is a member of the privileged group -- white -- demeaning a member of a group that has been systemically harmed by racism.

Would Davis call any white male politician "boy"? Would he call Hillary Clinton a "girl"? I don't think so.

Why does Obama have the honor of being called "boy"?

My question is this...would Davis call Hillary "that girl?" or even "that woman"? I doubt it.

When did the Greater Cincinnati area become so ignorant? CPS worries about kids not being able to pass an OGT - and then we have adults - voting adults, raising kids - who either ignore the truth or can't recognize it.

Between Cunningham and Davis - this corner of the world really is 20 years behind the times.

"bitter" - polite translation: "We're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore"

political translation: if we tell them they have been insulted, they're stupid enough to believe it.

Now, who do you think is condescending and an elitist?

Hey 4:05, I'm 3:27. How the hell do you know anything at all about Geoff Davis' "normal racist thought patterns"? Are you a mindreader? And since when are white folks members of a "privileged group"? Davis' blooper was a slip that indicates just that--a slip. You and the MSM will go to great pains to try and make it into something it wasn't. With the "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright, there was no spinning necessary. Wright didn't slip. He just came right out and showed his ugly racist hatred. Did you say anything about Wright's "normal racist thought patterns"?

Does Davis seem to think that he or McCain have to ability to push the button easier than Obama when it comes to a possible nuclear conflict? If so, that should scare the hell out of all of us, if a decision like that can just be made at the drop of a hat. Of course, though, Davis doesn't have to worry. He'll be in that nice secluded bunker, along with the rest of McCain's backers, when McCain decides to light up Iran and North Korea. Meanwhile, my fellow soldiers and I will continue to die, defending scum like Davis. Think of all that when you vote this November, America.

I'm an avid Obama supporter, but this BS has GOT TO STOP. Obama supporters must believe that making Obama the victim at every chance they can get will benefit our cause. IT WILL NOT. I'm already fed up with this, and I'm beginning to wonder if Obama can't take someone calling him "boy", can he really deal with the world issues that the next President will face? I support Obama, but if this keeps continuing, I will be ripping my Obama sticker off of my car. So shut your mouths and act like adults before you make things worse than they already are. There's a reason Clinton is neck and neck with us, and it's not because people actually like her...

Obama and Davis. Obama has an excuse to be a racist - he is part of a group of people who have been discriminted against for years. His racism is understandable. But what is Jeff Davis excuse? Is it because his name is the same as another racist Kentuckian - the president of the Confederate States back in 1865?

The sheer ignorance, arrogance and extreme, fact-ignoring partisanship so apparent on this blog really does reflect the DNA-entrenched, reactionary mind-set of the so-called conservatives in this region. They are hardly conservatives in the true sense; they are fascist, hateful, dead-enders.

Davis' "boy" and Obama's "bitter" controversy? "Boy" insults all minorities; "bitter" reflects the REALITY of the declining fortunes of our blue-collar and tradespeople. Don't believe me? Check out comments of actual Pennsylvanians of both parties; Barak truly GETS IT!

BTW, fascists, better not read the financial pages these next several months. Your dream prez, Bush, is gonna be responsible for the greatest crash ever. Why? The right-wing fascination with Friedmanism's free market/no regulation theories. He forgot to factor greed into his equations. And there's no greedier group than the US Chamber of Commerce, whose political wing, the RNC, is at the heart of our economic miseries. To say nothing of the $3trillion total cost of the Iraq occupation.

It's crazy how my language is becoming more and more racist every day without me even knowing it.

Maybe it won't be racist if I change the word slightly and say "Bah" or "Bay" instead of "boy". That seems to be the acceptable way of getting around using offensive terms in rap music.

Anon 3:26,

If you think Obama is "humbling" himself, that puts you squarely among the ignorant you deride. He is a consumate politician who does not "stick to the issues" because he never addresses them with anything but evasion and outright lies. He does not "defend his position", because he would swiftly have no chance were his true positions known. His "service" is negligible, other than voting hard left when given the opportunity. He's obviously got you fooled, though.

I leave you with this thought on his humility:

When the Hun is out and down, he's the humblest man in town,
But when he mounts and holds the rod, he has no love for man or God.

God help us if people like you allow him to mount the Presidency and hold the rod of state power. We will all pay for your ignorance.

at 1:19 PM, April 16, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

To Anon 7:55 AM - "...his 'service' is negligible..."
I guess you don't count three years as a community organizer in Chicago's South Side (1985-1988) after university (1979-1983) but before law school (1988-1991). Or his part-time teaching Constitutional Law as a Senior Lecturer (1993-2002) at the University of Chicago Law School. Or his eight years in the Illinois Senate (1996-2004) certainly as good a training ground in the "fine art" of political warfare as the Republican-controlled Ohio Senate. That's all service in my book!
So just what do you prejudiced folks think service is? It'd be real swell if y'all'd get yer effin' facts straight before posting drivel. BTW, how does "Anon" write so much crap so often? Are all you "anons" afraid to use an actual name? Pitiful...

1:19,

I'm sure he is a good community organizer. So was Lenin. Not necessarily a good thing. Teaching the Constitution as a "living document" with the take that it means whatever we think is relevant, and that the founder's opinions do not matter, is also not a good or useful service. I am not acquainted it Illinois politics enough to tell if those eight years there were useful, but I'm guessing that all he did there was vote left as well. If your idea of service is to fill young minds with liberal pap, I suppose you could make that case. If you mean service in a broader sense, such as actually doing something useful for your country or your fellow man, you may have a little more difficulty putting lipstick on that pig.

at 4:05 PM, April 16, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon 3:22 - Well! And what would YOU fill young minds with? I hope it's not "creationism" or radical libertarianism or "free trade."

On the Constitution...sure, the SCOTUS certainly wasn't activist in 2000 when they ignored states' rights and appointed a decider. It was so transparent a coup that they
said the decision (not even written) shall not be used as a precedent. Yeah, real strict original intent guys.

I contend that the social, democratic, and yes, economic, progress made in this country since the robber-baron era has been generally through initiatives from what you call the "left"; e.g., Social Security, a graduated income tax, fairness in wages, y'know a middle-class. I'd say unnecessary wars, depressions, $billions for hedge fund managers, off-shore tax-havens...derive mostly from the greed of the free-market kool-aid drinkers. Don't misunderstand me, I have respect for authentic conservatives.
You're welcome to return to the late 1800's if you wish. Or even 1931. Bring Euros, though.

4:05,

Unlike elitist liberals like Obama, I do not consider it my God given right to tell other people what to think, and therefore would not presume to "fill young minds" with anything other than the ability to read, write, and do arithmetic. Religious and political beliefs can be inculcated by their parents as they see fit, but I would encourage them to use their own minds and make their own decisions.

I notice that you argue beside the point on Obama's constitutional scholarship. We were not discussing the 2000 election, we were discussing the fact that Obama will cut the constitution to fit his beliefs. You evidently know what orignial intent is, but choose not to discuss it as it pertains to Obama. Perhaps you don't defend Obama because it is indefensible.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry about you thinking the Social Security Ponzi scheme was "progress". The original political promises about limits on takings were violated almost immediately, the system was, and is, clearly unsustainable due to its pyrimad scheme structure, and it was the beginning of the Government conditioning citizens to look to the Government for every need and not be self-sufficient. We would need a much larger forum for that discussion. As to unnecessary wars, I am fairly certain it was a Democrat that got us into Vietnam, another Democrat that committed large numbers of troops, and a Republican who got us out. We can be a bit more current about unnecessary wars with Haiti, Kosovo, and Somalia if you like, where Democrats insisted on our fighting in situations where there were no national interests at stake. As for robber barons, I think George Soros might have a dollar or two, and I don't belive he is a Bush supporter.

I do understand where you are coming from with socialism, however. Those theories always work well in a university environment, where all the paper people behave exactly the way you think they should. Unfortunately, we live in a real world where people do not do things for altruistic motives, but common good can arise out of self-interests. Read Adam Smith for a fuller explaination.

As for bringing Euros? The currency is the only strong thing about our European freinds, and that isn't going to last. Most of our European freinds are struggling under crippling social welfare burdens that cannot be sustained over the long term. The only reason they do not have heavy military expenditures is they live under the aegis of American might. Once Obama or his ilk cripple our military, we may not be able to carry that water for them any more. You may be wiser to buy gold, but bury it in your lawn to avoid capitalist banks.

And Europe isn't "struggling under crippling social welfare burdens". 11:33,

This is all beside the orignial point, which is that there are far worse things to worry about with Obama than whether someone calls him "Boy". This is fairly standard Democrat fare, to go on a tangent to avoid the actual issue.

I don't really have time to correct whatever economic theory you absorbed from Das Kapital, but to breifly address your concerns:

1) I did not call Social Security communisim. That said, it is socialism, in that you have no property right to the money which you have paid over the years. The money you pay is given to current payees. There is no "lock box", nor can there be without affecting money supply. Any time your money is forcibly taken from you by the state and redistributed to others, that's socialism.

2)If you're worried about Grandpa eating dog food, may I suggest you take it upon yourself to take care of your own family members? It is not the place of the state to do so, nor should I be obliged to donate my income to make up for his improvidence. I have my own family to support. It would also help if Grandpa had put a little back during his peak earning years, but he may have figured he did not need to if the Government would take care of his needs. See the reciprocal relationship?

3) https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2186rank.html

Follow this link to the CIA factbook, as it pertains to public debt in relation to GDP. The EU countries have a considerably worse problem with this than the US.

This could go on for days. I have to earn my money as a blue collar worker at a capitalist factory, so I cannot. The point of all this is that Obama is the most dangerous and least viable of the remaining candidates to lead this county to anything but perdition. Whether or not you call him "boy" is the least of this our worries.

at 2:41 AM, April 18, 2008 Blogger Cheviot Sports Idiot said...

Paranoid Wingnut,

From your own link, the EU is ranked higher than the USA in GDP purchasing power parity, Life expectancy at birth (the USA is a shocking #47), GDP real growth rate, Labor force,Industrial production growth rate, Imports less and Exports more, has a lower inflation rate, and has a far lower external debt than we do.

The EU as well as Japan all have much higher Standards of Living than the United States does:

http://www.2ontario.com/welcome/coca_801.asp

the EU also has a much more equitable concentration of wealth than we have in this nation, where the top 10% of the population control 70% of the wealth and the top 2% control over 50% of the wealth.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/15/business/15rich.html?_r=5&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1197696366-ls6PT1FH6bNDNmF9mThcWg&oref=slogin&oref=slogin&&oref=login

I guess it's due to that evil universal healthcare that all of those nations offer. And the longer annual vacation times. And the lower national debt....

Oh yes, more of the evil socialism. You live longer and live better. Oh how awful and evil it is.

2:41,

Wow, you stayed up until almost 3 in the morning just to argue with me. I cannot help but be touched. Or creeped out. You may want to consider getting a job, or at least some sleep.

Once again, I notice you are arguing beside the orignial point, which is that there are far worse things to worry about with Obama than whether someone calls him "Boy". The relative economies of the EU and the benefits of EU style socialzed medicine are a facinating topic that could lead to hours of debate, but are not on point unless you are arguing that Obama will have the US apply for memebership in the EU. I don't believe that's the case.

Yes, dear, you discoved that there are some things that are less than rosy about the US at the CIA Factbook website I linked you to. There are good things and bad things about the US economy, but unlike Obama, I do not feel compelled to hide the truth in any debate. The metrics also do not tell the whole story, though. Some, like PPP, do not control for Government subsidies that may affect prices at the consumer level. Some, like debt, demonstrate that we spend a lot, but are mute to the purpose of the spending. The US spends far more on the military than other countries, but it also protects those other counties, which allows them to save that money themselves. Measures like life expectancy and income distribution disparities, may be reflections of disastorous social policies implemented by folks with the same mindset as Obama, that have led to consequences such as transgenerational welfare recipients and dramatic increases in single parent families. You can only teach the kids what you know, and if all you know is how to get bennies...
The single parent issue is one that our European frends do not contend with, but it is a factor in whether or not one is destined for poverty.

http://www.ncpa.org/sub/dpd/index.php?Article_ID=2169

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-04-15-fragmented-families_N.htm

There is also a culural diffenence in everything from willingness to seek medical care to murder rates that can affect life expectancy. Just yanking the number out of the air proves nothing. As for the other side of the income discrepancy fence, yes there are some people who know how to game the system better than others. Many of these folks are on your side of the spectrum. Seen the Clinton's tax return? Do you think Ted Kennedy is living paycheck to paycheck? Do the legions of rabidly liberal movie and music stars need food stamps? Of course, capitalism is only evil when its practitioners do not agree with us.

Speaking of numbers that prove nothing, the Ontario link is interesting. You will notice that most of those nations have considerably smaller populations than ours, are not carrying the domestic and international burdens we do, and have economies nowhere near the scale of ours. The soure for these numbers is also the UN, hardly an unbiased source.

I did not investigate your other citation. Not being a big liberal, I am not interested in registering with the NY Times. Talk about an "unbiased" source!

It sounds like Europe has everything you would want already in place, no Obama election required. Everything but you. Maybe you should add that as well.

Now come up out of the basement and get some sleep, dear, and dream about that worker's paradise that only Obama can bring about. You can flame in the morning.

Oh, and precious? Try to actually stay on point next time.

Wingnut,

YOU are the one who cited Europe to begin with, when you equated SS with Socialism, which you further linked to communism.

The murder rate in Europe is lower because they have strict gun control, by the way. America also spends considerably more money on medical care than Europe does, with less effective coverage and care for it's citizens. Every other major western power offers universal health care, except the USA, thanks to the undo influence of the insurance and pharmaceutical companies.

Anyone who would quote site right wing hack Mark Steyn as a reference on any subject betrays their own ignorance. What's the matter, wasn't World Nut Daily available? Steyn has been so wrong, about every subject, for so long that he's a discredited joke.

And you are an even bigger joke, wingnut. Europe grows, it's citizens are living longer and better than we are, the Euro is the new world standard currency, and paranoid right wing zealots like you continue to play wingnut cheerleader while this nation sinks further into the abyss.

You are one deluded moron.

Cheviot idiot (Sports), name-calling is the refuge of the pea-brained. But at least you can claim to be an expert at something.

And you can claim to be a deluded, paranoid right-wing extremist who is still scared of the Commies. You are nothing but a butt-kissing waterboy for Carl Linder and Richard Farmer.

PBS’s Frontline did a fantastic program comparing healthcare in the US to five other capitalist democracies, including the UK. While the UK’s program did have its drawbacks, the government has instituted policies to expand choice for the people and moreover, the government pays significantly less as a percentage of the GDP for healthcare than we do (8.3% vs. 15.3%) and it covers everyone. Hard to make facts sound bad, isn't it Wingnut?

Cheviot Idiot has no job, no education and lives in sec 8. He can stay up all night and spew falsehoods. The Cheviot Authority at least makes sense. I hope those two aren't neighbors because their views are diametrically opposed.
A guy who posts with a picture of his head up his bum is pretty idiotic from the onset.

Awww, it looks like the 'Sports Autority' doesn't like being parodied. Folks are tired of your trolling, CSA, on both forums. Get ready for more of it, 'cause we're gonna be making fun of you.

1:17 CSI copying CSA is the highest form of flattery. I'm sure CSA is basking in the limelight.
It's a forum for all views, so why would you want to censor one individual blogger? Get over it.
