Strickland Visits "Wonderful" City

A not-so-surprise visitor appeared in City Council chambers this afternoon during the meeting. Ta-da, Ted Strickland!

The crowd of about 50 people, including about a dozen from Ukraine, stood up and clapped for him. (The Ukranians seemed happy to be there, even though the City Hall vending machines had just eaten their money.)

He'd spent the day touring the city's recent projects, including redevelopment in Over-the-Rhine, and was here also for the afternoon groundbreaking of the new School for Creative and Performing Arts. (Justin Jeffre's alma mater)

"I've had a wonderful day in this great city," he said.

He recalled growing up without television and listening to people on WLW call Cincinnati "the Queen City."

"I think that elegant and noble adjective really describes this wonderful city."

He thanked the nine council members for all they've done to bring about the projects he toured and said he wanted them to know they have his administration's support "as you're pursuing all these wonderful things you're pursuing."

No doubt the Governor visited the City Hall basement mens room, hoping to hook up with the foot-tapping bold typist.

Great to hear the Governor had a good time. Hopefully he can try to help get some funding for the streetcar project from Columbus

Jeffre is a viable council candidate and attended the school !

The school had a ground-breaking for which the governor felt important !

Are the Repugs really so desperate that they are going to insinuate Governor Strickland or Mayor Mallory are gay??? This is all the more ludicrous coming from the party of anti-gay religious bigots who turn out to be gay themselves: Mark Foley, Larry Craig, David Vitter, and at least one blog reports that the late Ohio Congressman Paull Gillmor might be gay, too.

Mallory showed off the Gateway Project and Fountain Square, both of which he called a waste in his campaign!

Too bad the mayor that follows him won't have anything to show off.

The wingnuts are freaking out because they are going to get crushed at the polls next year, and they know it. Remember, a desperate animal is most dangerous when backed into a corner, so watch out, because they are going to lash out in sheer desperation.

It's really funny though that they would choose to try to use the 'gay' label to tag a Dem with, given all of the closeted gay republicans these days. well, watch out, because Mike Rogers of Blogactive.com, who The Washington Post recently called "the most feared man in Washington" ( http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/09/03/AR2007090301396.html?nav%3Dhcmodule&sub=AR )is about to out two Senators and two Congressmen. He has already said that the list includes Lindsey Graham and our own Mitch McConnell (who Wonkette refers to as 'My Old Kentucky Homo" and was kicked out of the US Army 1967-- after a mere 10 days at Fort Knox. Since he refuses to allow public access to his discharge papers, the exact cause of his speedy departure from the military has always been shrouded in secrecy. Don't ask don't tell). Roger's track record is 100%; he outed Mark Foley, Larry Craig & Ted Maggard, amongst others.

We need a law in Ohio treating all registered Republican politicians as registered sex offenders. Their pictures need to be online so we can keep them away from our children. They should not be allowed to live within 1,000 feet of a school.

I would not dare bring my children to see any governing body in action if there were a single Republican in its membership.

I don't think it's safe for anyone to bring a group of schoolkids to COngress or the Statehouse if there is a single Republican politician there.

Not only are so many of them turning out to be perverts, but their policy agenda is so hostile towards children that it's just not safe for them to be around the Party of Hatred, Greed, and Perversions.

I will tell you what is sad. A person posting on this thread saying that republicans are a part of the "Nazi Party." What a sickening statement!! The Nazi killed millions and millions of Jewish people. The were responsible for one of the worst set of acts in the history of man. And someone has the nerve to use the word "Nazi" when talking about other americans. That is just plain sick, and disgraceful that someone would do that.
There are many Jewish people who if they read that statement would be hurt badly. That is one of the more sad things I have read. You should be ashamed that in a political blog where debate is suppose to occur that you would make a racist statement like that just so you can call someone a name and insult them. It takes a real jerk to lower yourself to that level and call someone a member of the "Nazi Party."

Anon 2:40am: If the jackboot fits, then they should wear it!

The right-wing extremists of the Republican party are directly responsible for killing over a half million Iraqis, most of them civilians.
