More reaction to Gonzales resignation

"This decision is clearly not one that Attorney General Gonzales has taken lightly. He has dedicated years of his life to public service, both in Texas and at the federal level, and I wish him and his family all the best as they enter the next stage of their lives. The work of the Justice
Department is indispensable to our Global War on Terrorism, and as we move forward, I trust that the next Attorney General will continue an aggressive approach against those who aim to harm our nation."
-- House Republican Leader John Boehner of West Chester, Ohio.

"I hope we can now move on with the very real issues that face our nation. A new Attorney General will again face the same challenging issues. It is my hope that a new Attorney General will find a new environment of cooperation and negotiation on the Hill. I want to thank Alberto Gonzales for his service and recognize the sacrifices of his loving family."
-- Rep. Jean Schmidt, a Republican from Miami Township, Ohio.

“Attorney General Gonzales had lost the faith of the American public, and his resignation was long overdue. His tenure in office will forever be remembered for abusing the rule of law and politicizing a department that, as the legal watchdog of all the American people, must necessarily be independent and above reproach. It is my sincere desire that President Bush and my colleagues in the Senate work to ensure that the next Attorney General demonstrates unwavering commitment to the protection of our civil liberties and the safety of our citizens.”
-- Rep. Zack Space, a Democrat from Dover, Ohio.

"Alberto Gonzales has dutifully served our nation as Attorney General during a challenging time in our history. I thank him for his service and for his unrelenting pursuit of security for our nation. I wish him the best of luck as he prepares for a new chapter in his life."
-- Rep. Geoff Davis, a Republican from Hebron, Ky.

Rep. Steve Chabot was unavailable to comment because he is traveling overseas on a congressional trip to Darfur, according to spokesman Todd Lindgren. Rep. Mike Turner's office did not respond to a request for a comment.

Maybe Bush could be a little more cooperative.

Hey Malia, about your most recent column:

Sen. Mitch McConnell and Rep. John Boehner - two area lawmakers and also the top Republicans in the Senate and House - backed President Bush's remarks about the war in Iraq last week, lashing out against Democrats who have called for an immediate troop withdrawal.

So nice to see that you're unquestioningly repeating McConnell's and Boehner's right-wing talking points. Keep up the great journalism.

Hey, I just thought of something you might have included in this column. How about an example of a Democrat who's calling for "immediate" troop withdrawal? Surely you can think of one. I mean, you wouldn't have put it in your column if it wasn't true, right?

It always brings a smile to our face when we drive the wRong wingnut whackos crazy by revealing the 'truth' !

The wRong wingnut 'followers' will maintain an unfounded loyalty, drinking the kool-aid and goose-stepping all the way to Jonestown !

Thanks for placing us on that pedestal and making us the center of your attention !

Still so angry and making zero sense!!! You are not on my pedestal. To me you are about as low to the ground as you can be.

I think you are so far gone that you will never see reality. Your hatred for those with different views than you is really sad. Your name calling of those with different views than you is sad. We all have a right to our views. I repect your right to your views. Do you respect mine?? Can you respect someonea views without calling them names and being hateful?? Yes there are those on both sides of the aisle that spread hate but that does not make it right that you do it. You and all those on both sides of the aisle that use insults, and words of hate as there only arguements are what is wrong in politics. I respect two people with different views who can debate those views without insults and words of hate. I respect those who make thoughtful arguements to prove their points. I challenge you to give us some arguements rather than your usual one-liners that you use way too often. How about a paragraph to explain yourself. A couple of complete sentences put together????

"....Do you respect mine?? ..."

No !

We always thought the wRong wingnut whacko, radical fundamentalist, went by that parable:

If you can't say something nice about someone, than don't say anything at all !

lol, lol, lol HYPOCRITE !

Why are you so concerned about us ?

We certainly are not concerned about you !

Reality is, the truth hurts !

But, since you won't listen to the truth, get back to goose-stepping through that elephant dung propaganda !

You must be tired of it, as well, because all you want to do is :

Wanna talk about me !

Wanna talk about eye !

Wanna talk about number one !

Oh my, Oh my !

PATHETIC HYPOCRITE !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 !

"if you can't say something nice than don't say it at all"

You are the hypocrite!!!

More one liners and no real response to a post by someone else. You really can't do anything but call people names and use the lame one liners.

Nice to see that you are such a close minded person that you feel that all republicans are bad people. When someone wants to have an intelligent conversation with you won't. In fact I don't think you are capable.
You are wrong. Not about your politics but about people. It really is sad that you have the attitude you do. What is more sad you talk about people talking about you and say they should worry about something else. Wow what do you do, you talk about others, insulting them instead of putting together a thoughtful comment every once in a while. Or an idea. YOU MY FRIEND ARE THE HYPOCRITE.

I say a very lame hypocrite!!!!

Nice comments Bold guy. This from same person that called someone a "crack whore" because you don't agree with her politics. How sad is that. You really are a Pathetic Human Being!!!! Except Human Being is too much of a compliment. Keep up the name calling and we will keep calling you on it.

To both of the right-wing nut jobs reading this blog and pretending to be many more than 2 people:

The Bold Italics poster is really no different than your heroes like Bill Cunningham and Rush Limbaugh. Name-calling is their mark in trade. Perhaps you find it so offensive because it is now directed at you. Perhaps you find it so offensive because you are actively reading it instead of passively listening to it.

Either way, you are finally getting a taste of your own medicine.

Deal with it.

yep, it sure was great the way nixon lead the way to victory. it must have been having the skills of a certain texas fighter pilot that made all the difference.

No if you read at all my comments you would see that I do not like those on either side of the aisle calling people names and throwing around insults.

Now listen very carefully I don't want you to miss this. Those on the right and those on the left who use insults and words of hate are all wrong. If people like Bill Cunningham and others insult people they are worng. Just as Bold Print person is. My point is that the person that posts in Bold print only uses lame one-liners, insults and words of hate. He never, ever will engage in a real discussion. He also has shown no tolerance for those with a different view than his.

All those that use the politcs of hate are wrong. Those that do are dividing this country and they are what is wrong with politcs. We can do som much more in this country by working together than tearing each other apart.

Oh yea one more thing. How rich of you to declare who my or anyone elses heros are. Limbaugh is a nut job. But thanks for having an open mind!! Yea so open that you think you know exactly how I think and who I believe in.

You call us "nut jobs" and you really don't know anything about us. How grown up of you!!!!!
