Hackett takes on Kucinich

Paul Hackett is back in congressional politics, but not as a candidate.

This time around, he is helping Democrat Rosemary Palmer, a former journalist and mother of a Marine killed in Iraq, who is taking on Rep. Dennis Kucinich in Ohio's 10th Congressional District.

Palmer, like Kucinich, wants to see the war in Iraq end now, but she is challenging the former Cleveland mayor in the Democratic congressional primary because she believes Kucinich has spent too much time running around the country in a Don Quixote-like run for the presidency, instead of tending to his congressional duties.

Apparently Hackett agrees, because he is joining Palmer in a telephone press conference Wednesday to talk about Palmer's plans for reforming the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Hackett, of course, is a Marine Corps veteran of Iraq himself - a fact that shot him into the national spotlight two summers ago when he took on Jean Schmidt in the 2nd District special congressional election.

I am a non-Ohio resident who was once excited enough about Paul Hackett's bid for Congress (way back in '05)..... that I managed to scrape up $50 to send to his campaign.

Sorry he didn't decide to do a rematch with Jean Schmidt...and instead tried his own "quixotical" bid for a US Senate seat.

I can understand him wanting to help out a candidate who lost a son in Iraq; other than that....I really don't get it.

He had a chance to make a difference as a US Congressman....all he managed to show us is that he didn't have "the right stuff" in the first place.

So what's his beef against Dennis the K? At least with multiple candidates in the 2008 race we can have some entertainment.

It is going to be boring if comes down to "Hillary, John Edwards and Senator Obama" this soon in the action.

Wondering,

Hackett is a patriot that knows a progressive/socialist/communist when he sees one.

I'm really glad "Wondering" put "quixotical" in quotation marks, because it's definitely not a word. "Quixotic" is, and aptly describes both Mr. Hackett, and Congressman Kucinich. Maybe we'll be lucky and the 2008 campaign cycle will be the last we see and hear of both of them.

I would have loved to have seen Paul Hackett defeat Jean Schmidt. However, he has since displayed that he doesn't have the stomach for raising money that is necessary in today's political world. So, expect to see him in supportive roles, but not as a candidate.

Hackett is a volatile idiot.

He claims Sherrod Brown unfairly kicked him out of the Senate race when the reality had more to do with picture that surfaced of him and dead, tortured Iraqis.

He's also the nutjob than hunted down two teenagers and held them at gunpoint.

I'm scared of this dude, keep him out of politics!

Then he should have let them go and instilled in them that they can get away with anything they want???

Sometime tough love can go far when one becomes an adult.

He should have called the police with their license plate number like any normal person would have done.

UsefulI, the best way to deal with BS in Bold is to totally ignore "it." It's inane, off-color blithering is irrelevant from any perspective. It simply seeks to irritate, not communicate. Watch it call me "The Nazi Party," a perfect illustration of my point.

I'll have to agree with tnp (who's been sounding much more reasonable lately) on ignoring the annoying, bold-type blogger. As soon as I id him I skip right to the next post.

I'm actually surprised that Hackett is coming out against Kucinich. Usually the loony-bins stick together.

CincyJeff,

Explain to me what is 'looney' about Kucinich. I'd really like to know why the 'right-wing' hate him so much. I'm impressed by Kucinich's knowledge of many issues and a genuine concern for the 'average person'. Did you watch the most recent Democratic Debate hosted by Keith Olbermann on MSNBC? Kucinich brought up some excellent points about NAFTA, WTO, healthcare and the 'illegal' Iraq war.

That's the way kiddies !

Keep ignoring the bold facts !

We always ignore sock-puppets like cinyjeff, the use-less idiot, of the Nazi party (tnp) !

We shall keep the kiddies in goose-step and force them into submission !

lol, lol, lol

PATHETIC HYPOCRITES !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 !
