Conyers to speak to NAACP

Howard Wilkinson reports:

Rep. John Conyers, the Michigan Democrat who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, will be the keynote speaker at the annual Freedom Fund Dinner of the NAACP’s Cincinnati branch on Oct. 5.

Conyers, who is in his 21st two-year term as a Detroit-area congressman, was a vocal critic of voting procedures in Ohio in the 2004 presidential election. In Jan. 2005, after hearings in Washington and Columbus conducted by Conyers, then the ranking minority member of the Judiciary Committee, the committee’s minority staff issued a report critical of then-Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, saying voting irregularities in Ohio may have disenfranchised thousands.

The Cincinnati NAACP’s 52nd annual Freedom Fund begins with a 6 p.m. reception on Friday, Oct. 5 at the Duke Energy Center, followed by a dinner and program. Next August, the Cincinnati branch will host the NAACP’s annual national convention.

For information on tickets for the Freedom Fund Dinner, call the NAACP office at (513) 281-1900.

The Conyers report said there was unprecedented disenfranchisement of African American voters Carl. Your coverage of this has been pathetic and your rag endorsed a traitor.

Who was the so called "expert" that told you there was no conpsiracy?

This isn't going to go away Carl!

Dang! I wasn't even thinking about election fraud when I wrote this, either large-scale (Blackwell) or small-scale (Brinkman).

Stop drinking the Red Kool-Aid. The Repugnicant Party is finished. You better hire yourself a good lawyer, because if you have any connection to a Repugnicant elected or party official, you can count on the FBI, DOJ, IRS, and who knows who else (thanks to your President's shredding the Constitution, the next Democrat President can pretty much have his or her way with investigating you) crawling up everywhere you've been with a flashlight and bug spray when we shut down the Repugnicant Party as a corrupt organization under the RICO statutes. Think it can't happen??????

Foley, DeLay, Ney, Taft, Abramoff, Cunningham, Doolittle, the illegal Iraq War, Rumsfeld, Halliburton. What's the common denominator? The GOP. Think they aren't connected? Ha! RICO helped put the mafia in jail, it can do the same to the Repugnicants.

And all your "friends" who you gave money to for "access" or on whose behalf you rung doorbells or stuffed envelopes "for an IOU" will be too busy working with their fancy-pants lawyers and accountants to gave a rat's rear end about you!

We are cleaning out the Municipal Court bench and all the patronage hacks working for it this November! Brad Greenberg, whose only qualification is his ability to suck up to Hartmann and Deters, GONE! Heather Stein Russell, Bob Taft's choice for Hamilton County, GONE! Julie Stautberg, who did Heaven knows what for the Repugs at the Board of Selection, GONE! Uncle Tom West, GONE! Taft appointees Bernat and Bouchard, GONE!

And we are coming back for the rest of the incompetent crooks in 2008. Bush will be gone thanks to the Constitution (this might be the only time he respects it), but we are coming back for you, Steve Chabot! We are coming back for you, Tom Brinkman! We are coming back for you, Jean Schmidt! We are coming back for you, Mike Turner! We are coming back for you, Pat DeWine! In 2008, we are coming for you, Greg Hartmann! We are coming for you Joe Deters, the incompetent Repug whose cronies' errors just cost a teenager his life, GONE (if not recalled sooner)! No more lining your and your families and cronies pockets with OUR tax dollars!

And we will defeat each and everyone of the judges and their wives, their relatives and cronies! No more slow, incompetent rude Repugnicant campaign cronies in the Courthouse! No more having a job that pays 50K a year for 30 hours of work just because of your last name!

And we are cleaning out the state government as we speak. Jaws will drop at the number and level of Repugnicants under indictment in the next 6 months.

Sleep well, all you Repugnicant hacks and cronies. The State Penitentary awaits. I laugh at the prospect of Joe Deters doing the laundry of the poor young Black men he threw in jail.

REP John Conyers is one of the most honorable serving this country. He had the guts to stand up to the thieves despite the deafening silence from "leadership" in the Democratic Party. He is one of the reasons I remain a D and have not given up due to a lack of spine by many Dems.

Anon 11:08,
I am curious of why Conyers, along with Teddy Strickland and Barney Frank, amoung a few others, refused to vote admonishment to the APA, which led to back-door (no pun intended) support of NAMBLA????? where were his jewls then????
