This Week With Mark Mallory

The usual weekly press conferences with Mark Mallory have been on hiatus the last couple of weeks while City Council's on summer break. Until today, when he had a few things to say.

Mostly, he focused on this weekend's Macy's Music Festival and events surrounding it, saying he really wants people to come downtown and give the weekend a try. He knows some people, especially locals, have been uncomfortable about coming to the party in years past - after the 2001 riots and other issues.

"The message for this year is very clear - everyone is welcome in downtown Cincinnati," he said.

Also on his agenda:

1. He met Monday with representatives of Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann's office to talk about new ways the state agency can help Cincinnati fight crime;

2. Tuesday morning, he toured some of the seven MuralWorks projects, which employed 84 kids for the past almost six weeks. He says the project shows the importance of investing in young people, while also leaving a lasting effect on communities.

3. Wednesday, he meets with new Office of Environmental Quality Director Lawrence Falkin, who started the job July 2. Falkin was most recently with the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Department in Kansas, where his title was deputy director for natural resources.

4. Friday, he meets with representatives of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown. Brown, he said, has offered to help Cincinnati, so Mallory wants to meet with Brown's people to talk about how.

5. Also Friday, he's going to the Cincinnati Police Department's promotions ceremony, where 24 become sergeants and eight become specialists.

He offered this comment about the pending closure of The Cincinnati Post: "I've always found the Post to be a quality paper. And I think it's absolutely going to be a major loss. Absolutely."

And on Saturday, right after lunch made by his Mommie, he'll go to his room & take a nap before going Downtown with his bodyguard.

What an exhausting, grueling schedule. I'm still waiting for this boy to do some solid work.

Mayor Mallory should ask Senator Brown to vote against the Section 8 Voucher Reform Act. It adds 200,000 vouchers nationally. That's all Cincinnati needs is more vouchers in it's system. Mallory can expect to hear problems when some vouchers start hitting Hyde Park and Mt. Lookout.

When does he ever have time to work in his nails??

That's a good half day for most mayors.

He still has not done ONE THING for Cincinnati. The downtown progress was all done by his predecessors, including the CCA, Square, Convention Center, and new condos.

And how much has Scotty cost the taxpayers so far?

Zero is at it again.

Typical wRong wingnut whacko spewing the elephant dung propaganda !

Is there some reason why each and every community should not have a diverse group of citizens ?

Is there some reason why society should not provide a hand up and help those that can not help themselves ?

Please provide the list of families who do not receive some form of assistance:

Social Security
Mental Health
Corporate Tax Incentives
Tax Abatement
Education Grants, loans
Police, Fire, Emergency Services
Parks
Museums
Roads, Airports, rail, bus
etc.

PATHETIC HYPOCRITES !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 !

I'm with the guy on Mallory asking Brown to vote against the Section 8 Reform Act. It's time for people to wake up and realize what the toll this abusive social welfare program is taking on our City.

If I remember correctly, Mallory opposed the renovation of Fountain Square while running. Now he sings its praises. Mallory also is taking credit for Music Fusion Weekend, even though it existed before he ever took office.

Oh so lame.

You are obviously totally clueless !

Site some stats !

You can not, because the facts do not support your wRong wingnut rhetoric !

Why not reveal the truth ?

You equate Section 8 as undesirable coupled with a racist hidden agenda twist !

PATHETIC !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 !

Count me in with the other 2 Anons on this Section 8 Reform Act. Rather than add 200,000 more vouchers, they need to start taking them away!

I'm a bit sick & tired of supporting scads of million dollar babies from conception until they get their heads blown off in the streets. Think about it - these individuals living off the working folks' sugartit aren't poor. These individuals are living the good life!

Watch Mayor Zero & see what he does on this reform bill. Betcha he goes along with it. Then he goes out the door on the next vote.

Your right, bold boy. Where do you live? The city needs a half-way house for ex-con pediphile cross-dressing methodist bank-tellers born in months with no R's. Diverse enough for you? Todd and the Crisco kidd should welcome some section 8 next door to them too.

But section 8 is how Mich Painter makes all his money. How else will he fund his Council race?

Bold Boy. Vote Democrat like John Cranley who has publicly critisized this out of control social welfare program? I can't wait to hear Steve Driehaus on the issue, he lives in Price Hill and sees it everyday. He won't be so Democrat on the issue. If he is he loses. Bold Boy must live in Hyde Park where they ain't got none.

Bold Boy from the hooty-tooty neighborhood, get a clue! Working people have for generations have been providing a helping hand to those who are too confounded lazy to get up off their duffs & contribute. It's far easier to feed & drink at the public trough.

It's called:

Section 8 housing
Ohio Food Card Program
Medicaid
Aid to Dependent Children
FREE medical & dental programs for kids
Indigent Care Levy at UC & Children's Hospitals
FREE bus tokens
FREE taxi vouchers
FREE Breakfast & Lunch Programs in Schools
FREE Day Care

Wow, I think I'm going to quit my job at Noon on Friday, go up to the county offices & sign up for some of this free stuff. Then I can sit on my plushbottom all day, watch TV or blog my brains out. What a cushy life! I really like this helping hand for those who can't help themselves. It's worth looking into!!
