Council candidates and their money
So now that most of the candidates for Cincinnati City Council have filed the first reports that show how much money they're collecting for this year's campaign, here's a few nuggets from them.
Everybody likes to know who financier Carl Lindner gives his cash to. He's on Sam Malone's satatement for $1,000, as is his wife, Edith. Carl and Edith each gave $1,000 to John Cranley, Leslie Ghiz, Chris Monzel, John Eby, Charlie Winburn.
Cranley: $1,000 each from Bob Castellini; and Stan Chesley.
Ghiz: $50 from Jean Schmidt, $500 from Dwight Tillery, $1,000 from the Taft, Stettinius & Hollister Better Government Fund, $1,000 from Castellini.
Chris Monzel: $1,000 from the Keating, Muething & Klekamp (Pat Fischer's law firm) PAC; $500 from the PAC at Frost Brown Todd LLC; $1,000 from the Fifth Third Bancorp PAC.
Malone, Winburn and Eby got $5,000 checks from the county Republican party.
Christopher Smitherman: in 2005, $500 from Chris Bortz.
Sean Lackey: $500 from Otto Budig Jr. (That plus one more dollar makes up the whole of Lackey's reported contributions)
Greg Harris: $2,500 each from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 212 and Plumbers Pipe Fitters Local 392.
Joan Kaup: $1,000, Melody Sawyer Richardson; $1,000, Bobbie Sterne.
Winburn: $1,000, Castellini; $1,000, Richard Farmer; $1,000, Covington developer Bill Butler, $2,500, Mike Allen's campaign committee.
Cecil Thomas: $1,000, Chesley.

why did Tillery give Ghiz 500?
is he also a dino?
it's pathetic that Cole didn't file on time, after 6 years shouldn't she know what to do and when to do it?
Just think, for once Cincinnati will be ahead of the curve when it unelects Ghiz and Monzel and council becomes a Repugnicant-free zone. Then in 2008 the party will be wiped off the map. Chabot, Schmidt, and please all the other far-right Jesus Freaks will be unemployed or in jail.
Tillery is part of the Fascists because he is a jealous hater on Mallory.
Tillery thinks he is going to get Berding to come through on several financial promises. Just like that $250,000 for the "health disparity" center.
When is Bortz going to try and audit Tillery's money like he and Ghiz did with CHRC??
This is what further explains how Cole Sold Her Soul.
Ghiz is a RINO, and Tillery lobbies Council for money every year. Tillery and some of Council seem to have a mutual support society going.
Maybe the 'greens' can pull some lint out of their pockets and collectively come up with $2.86 to give Smitherman.
Cole'd been a councilperson for a few yrs. She worked as an aide before. But since 2003 when the city required public disclosure, yes, she should know better. It is sad and extremely disorganized.
Wow, two unions have already maxed out for Harris, and the AFL-CIO hasn't even endorsed yet. Makes me wonder if they intend to bankroll his campaign? He seems fairly confident, despite his modest fundraising totals to date, that he'll raise what he needs to. Makes me wonder if he's labor's annointed candidate now that Crowley is entering his last term. I guess in Harris we'll get 8 more years of Crowley. Sigh.
...and how about Mallory's pathetic f/raiser last night?
He flies back from Detroit to attend, then goes back...all for 35 people, and he has the Governor!
Wonder who paid for all those flights? Hope it's not the taxpayer!
Why is Family Values Pastor Winburn taking money from Disgraced Former Prosecutor-cum-Adulterer-in-his-Office Mike Allen?
Does Charlie feel he's absolving Mike of his sins? Is Mike tithing to Pastor Winburn's church? Why doesn't Mike give Mini Me (aka Sam Malone to Winburn's Dr. Evil) some cashola? Is the Pantsdropping Prosecutor chairing Family Values candidate Chris Monzel's campaign again this year?
I think John Eby is going to surprise us all this fall. If he reaises about $50k more he's in the clear.
BORTZ THINKS HE SHOULD BE MAYOR
Bortz ahould be...much better than Zippy Zero!
