Turner paid his wife's firm: Updated

Rep. Mike Turner paid his wife's company, Turner Marketing, for campaign services, according to a report out Monday from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a liberal watchdog group based in Washington.

Turner's personal financial disclosure report lists his wife's employer as "Turner Marketing," aka "Turner Effect," but does not say what her salary is.

The CREW report says, based on campaign documents, that Turner paid his wife, Lori, $51,099 for campaign work since 2001. Turner represents northern Warren County.

UPDATED - Turner offered this comment Tuesday:

"My wife has never been paid for working on any of my campaign for mayor or congress. My campaigns have used the staff of her company for marketing services such as websites, yard signs, literature, etc. and paid fair market rates. This represents less than 1% of her company's revenues. Surely, no one can expect me to seek loyal marketing services from her competitors."

Turner isn't alone. According to the report, some 72 members of the U.S. Houe paid more than $5 million in campaign funds to relatives or their relatives' companies during the past six years.

Good to see where all those contributions are really going - at least this makes sense - i never understood why people would spend millions on a "'campaign" to get a job paying 150K - now this makes alot more sense
geezz....

Anon 4:42 surely is ignorant. Candidates usually (unless you're Jon Corzine) don't spend their own money to get the job. People are not spending millions-- they are raising it from others. Your assumption is simply incorrect-- does someone who oversees operations at their job "spend millions" to "get a job that pays 150K"? Of course not!

.

"..."spend millions" to "get a job that pays 150K"? Of course not!...."

Most wRong wingnut whackos get their money from corporate Pac's and LLC's.

So, just after the CEO's line their own pockets they buy Turner's votes and he gets to line his families pockets with those corporate dollars before the corporations pay dividends or health care for their workers.

GET IT ?

You see, if LLC's and Inc's had to actually pay living wages and benefits there wouldn't be any money to line the pockets of wRong wingnut whacko politicians and the politicians couldn't protect all those CEO's golden parachutes.

GET IT ?

PATHETIC !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 !
