Eby on the jail plan

He's a Republican, but council candidate John Eby agrees with the decision this week by Democrat commissioners Todd Portune and David Pepper to raise the sales tax to pay for a new jail.

As a city resident, Eby calls their decision gutsy and applauds it.

sorry Ebs, you just lost my vote.

As a taxpayer, we should vote on taxing ourselves. It's really that f-ing simple.

Fear not tax hikers, we've now found the heir to the Bob Bedinghaus/Bob Taft/Jean Schmidt wing of the Republican Party. Tax us more!

Oh John...you have lost your soul.

We need a new jail, but not this massive spending behemoth that only adds 400 spaces. This is classic liberal, democrat big-spending with the need for jail space as an excuse.

You lost another R vote in the city this morning, John. Shameful.

The Dems should have had to go to the voters.

I applaud Eby's efforts to support this jail. Everyone who is complaining about tax hikes would have voted for this one anyway because Phil Heimlich is not involved. We elected these people to the commission to legislate on our behalf and that's what they did. Plus, for all those who think he's a RINO you might want to look at Joe Deters' and Simon Lies' position on the matter, both staunch Republicans.
