Sports crazy?

Maybe a little.

At least that's what Ohio Sen. George Voinovich admitted this week after taking a red-eye flight back to Washington after watching his law school alma mater, Ohio State University, suffer a painful 41-14 defeat to Florida in the BCS National Championship game Monday night.

"I flew all the way to Arizona just to see a beating worse than the one my party took back in November," Voinovich said, after arriving back in town at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, just in time to attend a 9 a.m. Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing.

"He knows how to play hard and work hard!" said spokesman, Chris Paulitz, marveling at the energy level of his 70-year-old boss.

UPDATE: Voinovich paid his own airfare and for his own game ticket.

Who paid for Voinovich's flights and ticket(s), or did he get the "discount" seats offered to politicians and other well-connected folks by OSU?

Did he work on Monday like most Buckeye fans who either can't afford or can't get VIP access to bowl game tickets?

The boring old man is probably the poster child of the month for the Iraq Terrorists. He is ever so critical of president Bush sending more troops to Iraq.

No, the dems closed Congress on Monday.

Voinovich, being a Republican, will soon be in jail anyway, so I hope he enjoyed the last college football game he'll ever see in person.

Doesn't Anon. 12:33 1/12 know that Congress was closed Monday because Boehner requested it? - It was an act of good will on Dems part- sort of like throwing the Repubs a bone. Probably won't happen again as Boehner becomes more and more irrelevant.

Well, exactly what did Voino pay and to whom?
OSU was offering a $2,100 package to politicians that included the game, transportation and hotel. The $185 game tickets were actually pulling down at least $1,200 for scalpers.

Wow some of you are really desperate. Voinovich paid for a trip himself to go to a football game because he is a fan of the team. That is really bad?? There were 10s of thousands of Buckeye fans out there for the game and he was one.

I was also interested to hear that because "he is a republican he is going to jail." I really had not heard that all republicans were going to jail!! This shows me just how low some of you have gone. You either don't want to or don't have the intelligence to comment on real topics so you just throw out garbage like this. Just listen to yourself. It really is pathetic!!! Grow up and have a real discussion about some topics but don't try and make it bad for a guy to buy a ticket and go to a football game with thousands of other Ohioans.

Gee, he can afford to fly half way around the country to see a game, but, he voted "NO" to increase the minimum wage for those who struggle to put food on their table !

His taxpayer salary is way to high if he can enjoy that type of lifestyle !

PATHETIC !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 !
