DeWine appeals to romantics
Sen. Mike DeWine's new campaign ad shows him and his wife, Fran, who he says in the ad he's been married to for 39 years and has known since first grade. He calls her his best friend. The black-and-white ad shows them holding hands, working together and with their eight children and nine grandchildren.
The message: DeWine is a family man who cares about children.
The strategy: After weeks of negative campaign ads, DeWine's campaign, which is trailing in polls to Democratic challenger Sherrod Brown, is trying to flood the airwaves in the last few days before the Nov. 7 election with positive imags. Warm and fuzzy images, to be specific.
Will it work? You tell us.

Does he care about the children who lost fathers, mothers, and loved ones lost in an immoral war in which he rubber stamped? Time for a change!
He's almost certainly going down, but it's awfully nice to see a candidate go down with dignity. Kudos.
No, it will not work. Lots of people have happy marriages and lots of grandkids (well, maybe not that many grandkids). But the point is, a happy family life does not qualify someone to be a U.S. Senator.
What would work is hammering away on how liberal Sherrod Brown is. Everything else is wasted breath.
Excellent opportunity awaits Mike DeWine - lots of time to spend with his wonderful wife and children and grandchildren - he won't have to worry about being a snator - with the obligations of that office - any more -
More time to enjoy the ice cream socials -
strong democrat here. i think its sad the moderate republicans like dewine are going out. but the repub party has decided to go hard-right and ignore anyone who doesnt share their views. unfortunately, good men like dewine have to go b/c of the party they are in.
