Chabot calls on Cranley to denounce Kerry comment - UPDATED

UPDATE BELOW.

Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., apologized yesterday for the comment he made Monday.

But Republican Rep. Steve Chabot's campaign still wants Democrat John Cranley to "stand up for the military and condemn Kerry's rather unfunny 'botched joke.'" They sent out a news release today quoting military veterans from the 1st District who are upset about the remark.

If you just woke up from a coma, here is what Kerry said at a rally: "You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

Chabot spokeswoman Jessica Towhey: "John Cranley has taken many pledges throughout this campaign but he seems to have missed the one on standing up for our military and for our veterans. John Cranley's refusal to repudiate Sen. Kerry's comments show to all members of the military, their families and to veterans that he is more concerned with furthering his political career with the liberal wing of his party than he is with standing up for them."

UPDATE:

Oops! Cranley already denounced Kerry's comments YESTERDAY:

"What Senator Kerry said was inappropriate," Cranley said.

I call on Chabot to denounce his denunciation of Cranley for not denoucing Kerry! Denunciation is vital in this post 9/11 world! I don't vote along party lines, but only for those whom have mastered the art of Denunciation!

Read you Declaration Of Denunciation now!

Holding a sign at the Sixth Street Viaduct...that's awesome! That's old school. Shows the differences between Chabot and Cranley. Chabot isn't afraid to roll up his sleeves and get the job done because he's worked for everything in life. Cranley? Everything has been handed to him. Wealthy family. Harvard education. Still has never held a real job. Just what we need, another liberal elitist in Washington.

If chabothead cared so much for the soldiers why didn't he have Laura Bush escort him to that fallen soldiers funeral instead of telling her to stay home ?

I guess it just wasn't a good photo op ?

PATHETIC !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2006 !

Did Chabot ever serve in the military?

Let's look at Boy Wonder's full quote:

"What Senator Kerry said was inappropriate. Disrespect for our troops is when Steve Chabot votes against a $1,500 bonus for our men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan,"

Cranley didn't denounce Jean Kerry's comments, he denounced Steve Chabot. If John "DeWine" Cranley had any integrity, he would denounced what John Kerry said straight up, without somehow trying to tie in Chabot.

CHABOTHEAD IS RICH, RICH, RICH WITH STOCK.

From The Cincinnati Enquirer:

"Chabot's net worth could be anywhere from $385,027 to $1.1 million. That means his oil company holdings can be no more than 12 percent of his portfolio - but probably closer to 2 percent. Chabot's investments have done quite well. Not including some small dividends, GIFI is up 24 percent since Chabot bought it. EAC is up 34 percent, and MTRX (boosted by some private contracts to repair facilities damaged by Hurricane Katrina) is up 74 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 19 percent over the same period.

The energy bill Chabot voted for this year did provide for tax credits to encourage more domestic oil exploration - and also included royalty relief and other subsidies. In fact, Chabot was on the House-Senate conference committee that hammered out the final details of the bill. Chabot's campaign has taken more than $175,100 from energy and natural resources interests (including PACs and individuals) over his career, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

9:35 PM, November 02, 2006 Anonymous - You couldn't be more right! Cranley has been working from the LIBERAL cue cards this whole campaign, exhibiting no real or original idaeas. Chabot wins my vote because he knows how to run an honest campaign and he works hard at it - just like he works hard in D.C.

Speaking of "Wonder Boy",guess who showed up at the Cincinnati Retirement System meeting yesterday. Yes, indeed, it was John Cranley. He looked like he was thrilled to death to be there. He must of seen Chabot's commercial criticizing him for missing 40 of 48 CRS meetings.

Let's see. Aren't Bush's daughters both college educated?

And when did they both sign up for Daddy's war?

Not yet? Hmm.

John Kerry graduated from Yale, then volunteered for Vietnam. I guess Kerry can say anything he damn well pleases--botched joke or not.

You want to talk about something worth considering? Talk about an unstable Iraq, N. Korea and Iran as nuke-ular powers, and the national debt.
