Mallory: I don't get no respect.

Anyone who has spent more than a few minutes with Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory knows he's a funny guy -- maybe not Rodney Dangerfield funny, but still funny.

The mayor is well-known for dead-panning reporters asking serious questions, and for telling audiances to lighten up during formal speaking engagements, like a couple weeks ago at the 100th Police Recruit class graduation.

But just like Dangerfield, Mallory didn't get no respect when he tried his hand at stand-up comedy.

Mallory wasn't laughing about it Tuesday at his weekly press conference when a reporter asked about a stand-up comedy class the mayor enrolled in, then promplty dropped out of.

The reason he dropped out: A television station found out about the class and posted it on their website.

"It was supposed to be a surprise for my mother," Mallory said of the six-week course that culminated with a nightclub performance. "I had asked the other people in the class to respect my privacy. The next day I got a call from (a television station) asking about the class. So I just decided: forget it.

"It's a lost opportunity."

Mallory said he probably won't re-enroll because his schedule is too busy. "But one thing I do believe, this city needs some levity," Mallory said. "We need to laugh."

Is there any truth to today's widespread rumor that Dale Mallory is being asked to drop out? Apparently the ODP quietly conducted a poll, and sent the results to Tim Burke that show Dale losing. It's rumored that even the Mayor is now concerned about Dale getting elected while the scandals are investigated because it's potential bad affect on the Mallory name.

Would work well with a lightly chatting Ed McMahon or Gracie Allen type as a 2nd banana. But his inner corps doesn't like others in the limonlite. Someone who could deliver a male or female Myrna Loy offhandedness to his Thin Man WIlliam Powell. Man can be relaxed goofy without lessons on most topix; just doesn't know it. Admirable to want to make your Mom smile. A CONzensus builder with impersonal matters not able to transfer to average citizens for longer than 5 minutes.

Check his schtick in 6 months, see what his citizen ratings become. The city needs levity, correct, but laughter heard is so people do not start crying. Calling the mayor's city hall abode Flushing Meadows may be more appropriate; either that or the Dog House.

We all are laughing at the BS Mallorys claim to be true:
"I live in the West End"....3M
"I was not impeached" D4S
"I didn't know about the closed meeting rule"....3M
"Marcus Jenkins lives at 925 Dayton Street"...D4S
"I'm neutral on CityLink" ...D4S
"I'm a GE retiree".....D4S
The Mallorybillies are the biggest pack of lying theives I've ever seen. That's NOT funny
