Schmidt shows off her marathon medals

Rep. Jean Schmidt’s office e-mailed six photographs to reporters today to refute an Ohio Elections Commission complaint filed against her that alleges she lied about how many and which marathons she has run in – and how well she did in the races.

“We are appalled that anyone would make such an allegation let alone the allegations be taken seriously,” said Schmidt’s chief of staff, Barry Bennett.

The allegations were made about Schmidt’s participation in the well-known Boston Marathon, as well as marathons her in Ohio in Columbus and Xenia.

The above photographs show the Miami Township Republican with all of her marathon medals, her winning medals from the Xenia marathon, and the 10 medals she received from running in the Boston Marathon.

On the Xenia marathon, Bennett said: “In 2001, Jean finished 3rd in her class. In 2003, She finished 2nd in her class. Both are easily verifiable on the web and copies of the medals are included.”

On the Boston Marathon, Bennett said: “Jean has qualified for the Boston Marathon each year since 1991. During that period she has ran the marathon 10 times. We are today releasing photos of the ten medals.”

Bennett added: “Obviously the allegations are wholly untrue. The person making these false charges owes Congresswoman Schmidt an immediate apology.”

(Photos of her metal, trophy and finish in the Columbus Marathon posted below.)

Isn't it amazing when a reporter does their homework. Something we don't see much. Props to Malia for getting the WHOLE STORY, something Jon Craig apparently does not know how to do!

Whenever Jean Schmidt's needed a boost, Malia Rulon has always been there for her.

For the record:

(1) Medals do not prove anything folks. Anyone can buy a medal from someone; it’s official race results that count and you will not find Jean in every Boston Marathon she claimed to have run (check for yourself). Plus Bennett told the Pike County paper on 8/11 that Jean had completed “7” Boston Marathons, and now it is “10.” How many of those medals belong to her sister?
(2) Jean claimed a “2nd Place Female Overall” in 2002. Check those results while you are at it, she’s not in them.
(3) The WHOLE STORY will come out after August 24th, so stay tuned.
(4) I filed two more complaints today that were received by the OEC. These will not be quite as funny to anyone; including proof that Bennett and Jean lied to the OEC and the media back in April.

Anytime you give the opposition the opportunity to trot out their medals, it is a losing political proposition.

Has Cranley ever won anything? Other than sucking at the public teat, has Cranley ever done anything?... Anyone?... Hello?...

Did Schmidt really win the medals? As you are much aware, Schmidt will do anything to make the headlines in the newspaper, even if she needs to tell a little lie.

I believe cranley heads the university of cincinnati's innocence project and has assisted in refuting the wrongful conviction by untawdry governmental officials of innocent men. If that isn't a notable and distinguished credit/ service to this community --- I don't know what is. I value justice. I value persons who stand for justice. I value persons who volunteer their time without gain to promote a fair democratic system of justice for all of us.

furthermore, cranlely has chosen to stand up and , literally, be counted in public elections, against great odds and subjecting himself to public ridicule and attacks to being forth a better government for us - to improve our lot, to improve our representation. that is courage. any lawyer could selfishly chose to stand inthe background, behind the scenes, and"help out"while others have the courage to make the stand and endure the scrutiny.

how many of us would, could, chose to make that stand forfeiting a lucrative career to dedicate time to our needs.

for some, public service, is just that - for others- it is a means of gain- and i would say with the coingate, noe, ney, taft, petro, deters, pay to play, misappropriations, thefts ioffice,--- for god's sake - we know who is campaigning for gains and who is doing it for us.

Who is the accuser Nate Noy? I understanding that he is running for Congress in the 2nd District. What is his background? Is he a serious candidate? This accusation may just be one more Schmidt lie that proves her incompetance in representing us.

I grew up in The second congressional district, I earned an MBA, received my law degree, passed the bar, managed a million dollar franchise here, and was head legal counsel at an influential non-profit industry organization....I left that position because I want to represent the people of OH. I think they deserve better than what they're getting now. With me, they get honest representation that supports Their Values.

Yes, Schmidt finished the races. Yes, she finished second in 2003. The results are online. Her name and times are listed.
