Mallory vs. Yates: "The Forgotten Election"

Democrats in the 9th Ohio Senate District - which includes most of the city of Cincinnati - will find two familiar names on their ballots today in a race for a party office that has been bubbling just below the surface during the primary season.

Cincinnati mayor Mark Mallory is running for the position of state central committeeman; his opponent is State Rep. Tyrone Yates, a former Cincinnati councilman.

Both want to be on the Ohio Democratic Party's governing body. Democrat voters in each of Ohio's 33 state senate districts will choose a committeeman and committeewoman today.

The Hamilton County Democratic Party did not endorse a slate of candidates for the state central committee positions, but the county party chairman, Tim Burke, has made his preferences known.

Burke sent a personal letter to thousands of county Democrats asking them to vote for the candidates he favors, including Mallory.

Yates took umbrage at this, objecting to the fact that the party never gave the candidates an opportunity to make their cases for a party endorsement.

Not umbrage, ACTION! (And not thousands, the address labels were to members of the Precinct Executive list which numbers less than 700).
Representative YATES took ACTION!!!! What the former senator turned out mayor failed to bring back to the Democrats as a whole was a sense of party unity, information, the concept of all Democrats involved in the process. His sense of accomplishment needs commending, but the arteries of the heart of the party need clearing, that's why Yates' Leadership and directness is needed right now.

Representative Yates brings to the local party the information that has formerly slowly trickled down to the average Democrat and back to the overall community of Democrats. This has kept division in many communities inside and outside the party. Transparency in government and Democratic politics needs less of the chosen few insiders and more of the comitted many. A great citizen and statesman from the 33rd District moves his party forward without hidden agendas. Burke and crew WISH this election was forgotten.....to any and all Democrats who want the feet off their necks by party elitists try a different phrase--Yes With YATES!!!----
