The Heimlich Remover

David Pepper plans top make at least 10 appearances Election Day in his bid to beat Stephanie Dumas and become the Democratic candidate for Hamilton County Commissioner.

Dumas will make appearances all throughout Hamilton County on Election Day, she said, but had no specific agenda.

After the polls close, though, she will be at her campaign headquarters, 7030 Reading Road, Suite 450, in Jordan Crossing.

Pepper and his campaign also plan to take advantage of the procedure that made the Republican opponent a household name.

In a take-off on the Heimlich maneuver popularized by Dr. Henry Heimlich, father of incumbent Republican Hamilton County Commissioner Phil Heimlich, Pepper is dubbing his fall campaign the "Heimlich Remover."

So has "Just Add Pepper" been officially retired by the Pepper campaign? That slogan didn't go over so well when Pepper ran for Mayor of Cincinnati and lost to Mark Mallory. His new slogan will join the dustbin of local political history along with his old one. Pepper's a nonentity who offers no real solutions for the problems of Hamilton County.

"Just Add Pepper" was his slogan from his first Council campaign in 2001, Paul. It seemed to work pretty well, seeing that he finished first out of 26 candidates and had never run before--something which hadn't been done since the '60s--and he crushed people like DeWine who outspent him.

Must be pretty memorable if you accidentally thought it was his slogan four years after it was retired.

Slogan .. schmogan. Who cares about his tagline? It only shows that he has access to some crafty brand management/ad agency wordsmithing. I agree with Paul completely that Pepper's "a nonentity who offers no real solutions for the problems of Hamilton County."

Did you look at what he's doing tomorrow? Working non stop. Would be nice if we had someone working that hard for us in the county.

Oh, I forgot, then Heimlich must be an entity who has offered real solutions for the county. Let me count the things Heimlich has accomplished or even proposed. Hmmm... wait a sec.... well.....he is working hard to make sure he can put his stamp on the banks project. If you listen folks, you can hear a train coming around the bend, and it doesnt sound like a Republican whistle.

The only reason people remember his stupid slogan and he beat everybody is because he out spent everyone and ran tons of annoying adds.

Pepper's always worked hard for himself and his big political donors. The only problem is the taxpayers get screwed in the process.

Sorry, but your facts are wrong. Pepper was always outspent by DeWine. In 2005, Berding and Cranley spent about the same as Pepper had. Yet Pepper is the only Council candidate since 2001 to get more than 50% of the vote--doing it in both elections.

No specific agenda for election day, no specific agenda for the next four years.

Great campaign, I'm duly impressed.
