Boehner on radio today

Congressman John Boehner will be a guest on the Sean Hannity Show today at 4:05 p.m. discussing his bid for House majority leader.

The West Chester Republican is in a tight race against Congressman Roy Blunt of Missouri to replace outgoing House Majority Leader Tom DeLay of Texas as the No. 2 leader in the House.

You can listen to Boehner live online here.

Shadegg was on with Boehner. (Blunt refuses to appear unless he is alone).

This was his radio show.

Rep. Boehner throwing in his hat to be considered as a replacement for Rep. Delay in the wake of the Abramoff scandal is itself a scandal. And I don't know why most people don't know about this story about Rep. Boehner.

I recall reading in a weekly news magazine many years ago (the 1980's or early nineties) that just prior to a vote in the House of Representatives Rep. Boehner was seen on the floor of the House passing out checks to fellow House members. The article said that his conduct was so blatant that a fellow House member felt compelled to go over to him and tell him that it did'nt look good for him to be seen passing out checks on the floor of the House and for him to stop.

I can't be sure whether the article appeared in Newsweek, Time, or U.S. News and World Report, but it definitatly appeared in one of them. This story was also repeated on Fox news (the Chris Wallace Show about a week ago) when Boehner was interviewed and asked about it. His reponse was that he was sorry, or words to that effect.

For the Republicans to have the arrogance, stupidity, or lack of institutional knowledge even to consider this human being for such a spot in the midst of the present scandal is absurd and laughable.

Well that's how the game is played. We have a plutocracy and the public understands this. That's why we have the lowest voter turnout in the western world.

most recent Anonymous: amusing tirade, but you left out a couple of important facts. 1) Boehner didn't violate any rule, and 2) Boehner is the one who led the effort to change the rules so such things wouldn't happen again. Isn't that what leaders are supposed to do?

Oh, I get it, paying for votes is OK as long as there isn't any rule against it; relating a news story about a congressman who pays for votes on the floor of the House of Representatives is a "tirade" and should not shock anyone's conscience; and, the national news magazine was also on a "tirade" when they ran the story. How anyone can defend a congressman who paid for votes and then deride someone for expressing outrage at such conduct shows how low some people have come in this society and what low standards we hold our leaders to. If anyone believes this miscreant is a "Reformer" like he now says he is, and being a "Reformer" has nothing to do with the fact that he got caught, well, I guess that's how miscreants get elected.
