Guess who wrote this guest column

Guess who wrote this guest column which will appear in Wednesday's Enquirer?

I have never been a big women’s libber, bra burner or the like. But recently a number of anti-female biases have really sent me into a tailspin. You see, not only am I a member of Cincinnati City Council and a practicing employment discrimination attorney, I am also a soon to be mom. We are expecting our first baby in August, and never in my life has my hair stood on end as much as it does now when I’m asked, “How are you going to do this?”

Read the full column, and find the answer here

After meeting Ghiz, I wonder how she can continue to breathe. And it has nothing to do with her being a woman, but everything to do with her elitist attitude and do nothing persona on council.

.

OK !

No excuses !

We just bet she takes every legal opportunity available under the Democratic Medical Leave Act !

Sound like she feels sorry for herself and wants everyone to know it !

Not get in there and rattle them pots and pans !

PATHETIC 'family values' !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2008 !

Talk about elitist. That's Ms. Qualls. And I'm sure she's the one who asked Ghiz how she could be a council member and mother.

Leslie must not be getting enough attention. She has to stroke her own ego. She is an embarrasment to the hardworking women that sincerely do their best to manage work and family. If it's so normal why do you feel the need to write an article about it. Why don't you thank the people that do understand instead of constantly pointing out the negative?

at 2:43 AM, May 14, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

I was getting close to the end of Leslie's editorial, thinking that ole' Ghiz for once was able to write something without coming off like a complete idiot. Then I got to the final sentence: "When people learn to treat women equal to men, they will realize we, nine times out of 10, can run circles around them."

Actually Leslie, some men can run circles around most women just like some women can run circles around most men. This is nothing new to those of us who don't judge others by their race or gender. If this article was Leslie's attempt to encourage people to look past gender stereotypes, which would have been a good message, all she succeeded doing was exposing another one of her own bigoted attitudes.

I'm confident that Ghiz has the ability to handle everything at once. If so, perhaps she'll get around to abiding by her 2005 campaign promise to cut Council salaries. I can't imagine why such a successful, honest, capable Councilman hasn't been able to live up to her election promise.

http://blogs.citybeat.com/porkopolis/2006/11/carefully_contr.html

One substantive complaint against Ghiz is her lack of action on a campaign pledge to reduce council members’ salaries. When asked, Ghiz has said she’s waiting to introduce such a proposal until sometime in 2007, a council election year when she can leverage support from other members and have better odds at passage.

Why is everyone so negative about Leslie? Motherhood while working is a very difficult but we all manage and Leslie will too. Leslie is going into this with a positive attitude. She will accomplish everything at home and at work. Give her a break.

I think in a personalized and honest manner, Leslie highlights a societal double standard. Fathers typically don't get scrutinized for also being professionals, so why should mothers? Her examples from her employment law practice are especially poignant.

When it comes to multi-tasking, women have run circles around men for decades. Ghiz will do quite well managing home, law practice and her seat on city council, thank you very much. I would just love to see some of you men, who commented on this story in a negative manner, feed a baby, prepare dinner, do laundry and write briefs for your law practice simultaneously. Besides, if Ghiz needs help, she will hire someone. If she can afford it, what's the problem?

at 12:36 PM, May 14, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ghizzy stooge 11:46, men have been multi-tasking for decades as well. It's called LIFE! Why do you Ghizaholics have to make this a male vs female thing?

at 12:55 PM, May 14, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

11:46: My comments are focused at Ghiz, not women in general. I know many women who do the things you mention, very well I might add, and yes, better than I could.

I disagree about Ghiz running her seat on council well, she has not been able to do that so far. I question her leadership ability, and focus on the job, with or without children. Having a child will not diminish her ability to help the city on council, she's already shown to be lacking in that area.

Prior to becoming a wife and mother, Leslie Ghiz was regarded as a double-talking, rude, overbearing, ineffective, adversarial, angry, bitter, miserable human being, and a lousy attorney to boot.

Sorry to say, but marriage and/or motherhood have not and will not change any of that one iota.

at 2:12 PM, May 14, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

From the sounds of it, not much will change. She did nothing before, she'll do nothing after.

I hate all that "I can bring home the bacon" bull crap. Diz can't do one job right, now she's going to try two?

Everyone, send the baby some therapy coupons for it's homecoming.

Somehow, Hamilton County Recorder Rebecca Prem Groppe, State Representative Shannon Jones, Colerain Township Fiscal Officer Heather Harlow, and a host of other elected officials at the local, county, and state levels have managed to do their elected jobs well and raise children at the same time without penning a whining diatribe in the Enquirer or any other newspaper I am aware of. Leslie Ghiz hasn't even given birth yet and she is already being a whining er, baby, about this.

Way to go Leslie, you just set back the progress of a generation of women in politics!

Finally - - - a Leslie Ghiz debacle that can't be blamed on disgraced former staffer Scott Gehring! Maybe Scott is better off working for the Volunteers of America sex offender program!

at 4:10 PM, May 14, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hmmm... work for Leslie Ghiz, work with sex offenders

*holds hands out as if a balance scale*

I'd take the sex offenders. At least they're trying to do good.

Hey Leslie...if motherhood is more satisfying to you than the BS at City Hall, you should resign. Why? Why have any people with any sense being on City Council? I'd like to see a complete DEM run city.Mayor/City Council/Coroner...all positions...this city is sinking like the Bismarck and will sink deep into the abyss much much faster if there are NO R's to be found on deck handing out Life Jackets.Screw it.Abandon ship,Leslie!

Jeffy Capell, aka cincyjeff, since you do not live in the City of Cincinnati, why don't you shut your pie hole? Go back to Blue Ash and worry about what happens there, and leave Cincinnati to those of us who actually live here.

at 6:28 PM, May 14, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Cincycapell must have left her copy of the Constitution in NYC. The First Amendment does not contain a residency requirement. Besides, Capell is a taxpayer via the2.1% earnings tax, just like me.

You're welcome.

at 11:36 PM, May 14, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

WRONG 6:28!

Blue Ash Jeffypays the income tax because he works here, and uses City services while working within the City. It's a fee. He's protected by City Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT's while he is working here. He drives on our roads.

He is not a citizen of the City of Cincinnati. He cannot vote in our City elections. he's an outsider. The income tax doesn't mean didly-squat.

And he should shut his big, fat mouth.

CincyStalker, whoever I am and wherever I live, this blog has been set up to allow all to comment. And that's exactly what I'm going to do until the Enquirer takes away our comment rights.

If you don't like it, feel free to tell me in person sometime. Do you ever have anything of substance to add, or are grade-school insults the best you can do? It's 6:30 AM, which I think signals the start of another 16 hour shift for you to obsess about the President of the Blue Chip Young Republicans. Happy Trails,

- CincyJeff

Big Mouthed, Log Cabin Capell, who is the biggest troll on this board, just loves trying to tell the citizens of Cincinnati how we should run our government. Fortunately, she is not a citizen of our fair City and is thus not entitled to any say in our City's affairs. She should really keep her big, hooked nose out of our affairs and worry about what happens in Blue Ash instead.

I'll be here the rest of the night and all day tomorrow to continue making anti-Semetic statements and obsess over the Blue Chip Young Republicans.

Love,

Cincycapell

cincycapell AKA cheviot sports idiot said at 1:09 PM:

"...keep her big, hooked nose out of our affairs..."

Is this yet another anti-Semitic comment by an anti-Semite?

at 12:58 PM, May 18, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

cincycapell sure likes to call Republicans Nazis, doesn't she?

Well, didn't the Nazis measure noses to see if they were "hooked" or not?

With her "big, hooked nose" comment, it's now obvious that liberal fascist cincycappell AKA cheviot sports idiot is the real Nazi around here. The more liberals open their mouths, the more hatred they spew forth.

Jeffy has her panties in a bunch again~she hates it when its pointed out that she lives in Blue Ash and has no business telling the people if Cincinnati how to run their city.

Go tell it to someone who cares Jeffy.

Israeli Spying:
The Mother of all Scandals

Once again, Israel has been caught with spies at the highest levels of the US Government.

At the heart of the investigation are two people who work at The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a powerful pro-Israel lobby in Washington. The FBI investigation, headed up by Dave Szady, has involved wiretaps, undercover surveillance and photography that CBS News was told document the passing of classified information from the mole, to the men at AIPAC, and on to the Israelis.

CBS sources say that last year the suspected spy, described as a trusted analyst at the Pentagon, turned over a presidential directive on U.S. policy toward Iran while it was, "in the draft phase when U.S. policy-makers were still debating the policy." This put the Israelis, according to one source, "inside the decision-making loop" so they could "try to influence the outcome." [CBS News]

Once again Israel denies wrongdoing, or faced with incontrovertible evidence (in this case one of the spies has reportedly cooperated with the FBI) dismisses the spying with the claim that such spying is harmless, because Israel and the United States are such good friends.

Well, let us take a closer look at that idea of “harmless espionage” by recalling Israel’s most famous failed spy, Jonathan Pollard.

Jonathan Pollard is an American of Jewish descent, born in Galveston Texas, who established a career as an intelligence analyst for the US Navy. There have been many theories offered as to why Pollard decided to betray his country of birth to the Jewish state, but that Pollard did betray his country of birth to Israel is beyond all doubt. Pollard’s defense was that he did not spy so much against the United States, only that he spied for Israel, sending them documents that in his opinion the US should have shared with Israel anyway......
