Read the Dann impeachment articles here

UPDATE: Marc Dann released this statement

The Attorney General has said that he does not believe there are grounds for impeachment, and he will continue to do the job that he was elected to do.”

The Democrats have prepared the articles of impeachment for Attorney General Marc Dann. There are nine counts, including obstructing the investigation, neglecting his duties, and "gross immorality."

They were introduced today, according to AP.

Read them here

Here's the report from Gongwer News Service, which covers state government:

The House State Government & Elections Committee today recommended legislation authorizing an Inspector General’s investigation of Attorney General Marc Dann. The amendment, which cleared the panel on a split vote with most Democrats in opposition, provides a budget of $250,000 and includes an emergency clause. A vote in the full House is expected later today.

Separately, Democrats in the House prepared to introduce an articles of impeachment resolution (
draft version) as an alternative to the inspector general’s probe.

“We have identified a pattern of misconduct that we believe rises to the level of impeachable offenses,” said Reps. Dan Dodd of Hebron, Jennifer Garrison of Marietta and Mark Okey of Carrollton, who were assigned to review the case on behalf of House Democrats. “We promised the people of Ohio to end a culture of corruption that existed in the past, and we are fulfilling that promise by cleaning our own house when events and circumstances warrant.”

The lawmakers said it is time for Mr. Dann to be held accountable for his actions, and the operations of his office. “We will not allow this pattern of misconduct to overshadow the important work being done on behalf of the people of Ohio. These Articles outline the case for us to move forward to address this situation and continue the work of promoting our state and protecting our constituents, undeterred by this distraction.”

jason, think Dann will bring Driehaus down with him?

It seems overly vague to me. I don't see where it takes him to task for his failure to report things on his financial disclosure as well as the potential gambling investigation by the FBI.

I think the best way to tackle someone who is going to go to the bunker and fight this is by thoughtfully approaching impeachment and building a strong case rather than a knee-jerk reaction.

The Dems have distanced themselves, now they need to make sure that their impeachment sticks. An overly vague and poorly worded resolution may let Dann off the hook and do more to embarrass the legislature than to actually "clean house."

Haste makes waste.

The Dems take action to impeach Dann.

The rethuglicans, meanwhile, gave David Vitter a standing ovation after the news of his diapered antics with prostitutes went public.

And they did noting to remove convicted gay hooker soliciting Larry Craig from office either.

Others who won't miss Dann: White Hat Management, leaches on the public purse that were fined $5.2 million for their misuse of the publics money but school children who needed the better programs might. Also,Subprime lenders and Payday lenders , they won't miss Dann.You,Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer will when you figure out what a good public servant you lost while being distracted by scandals of no real interest, except to the voyeristic crowd.

There will be another Democrat in the AG's office to do the work of the people against the coroporate greed and Republican theft that has nearly destroyed this state. He or she just won't be a lying, cheating, incomeptent boor.

The affair is between Dann and his wife.

The improper use of a state vehicle is between the fired staffer and the state.

But, the illegal hiring of unqualified people for state civil service jobs is about all of us.

Why do the impeachment articles not included the violation of civil service laws in the state of Ohio?

Why is neither party talking about it?

Because that's where the problem lies - not in a bed, not in a bar, and not in the condo. The real problem that nobody wants to talk about is the broken civil service system in Ohio that is the crux of all corruption - for both parties (that's why nobody is talking about it - they want to preserve the secret catalyst that preserves silence)

Democrats Capture Deep-Red Mississippi House Seat
By Eric Kleefeld - May 13, 2008, 10:35PM
We have witnessed tonight a momentous election with far-reaching implications for the country -- in Mississippi, where the Associated Press is projecting that Democrat Travis Childers has won the special election for the open GOP House seat.

With 90% reporting, Childers leads 52%-48% -- and with the strongholds for GOP candidate Greg Davis mostly in, and some of Childers' stomping grounds still out. And all of this happened in a district that went 62%-37% for President Bush in 2004.

This election tells us a few things:

• The Republican strategy to tie down-ballot Democrats like Childers to Barack Obama has failed. Even in a district that Obama is unlikely to win, it doesn't appear that an Obama-based attack can actually cause real damage for a relatively conservative Democrat.

• The GOP is in serious trouble overall. They have now lost three special elections in what should be safe seats: The Illinois seat of former Speaker Dennis Hastert, the Louisiana seat of former Rep. Richard Baker, and now this.

• Dick Cheney's visit to the district didn't help -- or at least didn't help enough.

• Republican morale is probably going to be even lower now as it was before, as they have been reduced to 199 House seats, down from 232 seats after the 2006 election.

Secret to a perfect life: The wealth of a Republican and the sex life of a Democrat. Priceless!

That's right 12:16, you definately want the sex life of a Dem, because we do it the normal way, between a man and a woman. Rethuglicans, on the otherhabd, do it in bathrooms with gay hookers, while wearing a diaper, and with little boys.

Read all about it here:

Now featuring five -yes, count'em, FIVE FULL PAGES- of convicted GOP Pedophiles!!!!!!

Cincycappell is jealous because she doesn't have the wealth of the Republicans. You can't always have sex, but you can always spend money.
I think the diaper guy was with a woman. I hear you have a thing for Jeff and won't leave him alone. Jeff doesn't seem remotely interested so I guess you're frustrated too.

Glad Driehaus had the guts to call for Dann's resignation - I'm tired of politicians with no backbone - e.g. Chabot.
