What is going on in the AG's office?

UPDATE: The Dispatch reports that computers and files have been seized.

First, there was supposed to be a noon press press conference. The Plain Dealer reported that here

The Dispatch quoted Dann's spokesman, Jason Stanford, saying this morning that Dann would have a press conference at noon. “ Attendance is mandatory,” Stanford said.

Reporters gathered outside Dann's office.

About 12:20 p.m. today, spokesman Jim Gravell said Dann had gone to lunch and there would be no announcement today, the Enquirer's Jon Craig reported.

Shortly before noon, Ted Hart, another spokesman in the Attorney General's Office, said, "We have nothing to say at this point. I don't know anything. He's in his office. I don't want (Dann) to go out and talk to half the media.'"

He should hang on a little while longer and make the Repugs look like the hypocrites they are.

What a goof. Press conference then no press conference?
Sounds like the AG's office is in turmoil and does not know what to do next.

Dann is Dunzo.

You think he is stalling because he needed some time to get more advice from his fund raising buddy Steve "girls-gone-wild" Driehaus?

HAD ENOUGH DEPRAVED DANN DEMOCRATS?

VOTE REPUBLICAN IN 2008!

More shuffling than a Texas Hold'em competition....or is that Dann-cing with the Bars?

Speaking of hypocrisy, wasn't it Marc Dann as a state senator who was always going after Governor Taft about corruption issues? It sounds like Dann has turned the AG's office into his own private party room. The longer he refuses to step down, the more hyprocritical he looks.

Maybe the foot-tapping Bold Typist will now be able to move in with Marc.

Great, Dann made a fool of the press !

Perhaps, they'll be a little more unbias ?

Good for him !

What is going on in the AG's office? Justice. Unlike previous administrations - the Dems are cleaning house and throwing out garbage that isn't consistent with the values of the party and their agenda.
How refreshing.
Nothing like targeting the glass houses before throwing stones at others -- what do you call this? Maybe a responsible leadership?

he's probably raising cash for driehaus again.

at 2:32 PM, May 14, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Unlike the previous administration where everybody protected each other even after convictions and nobody resigned, the Dems are all determined to get Dann out ASAP.

Why didn't the Republican State House and Senate move to impeach Taft after he was CONVICTED of criminal action?

Repukes show that corruption is fine so long as it's THEIR corruption. Dems meanwhile are determined to get their scum out of office immediately.

Dems prove they are the ones with meaningful values.

Breaking - Breaking - Breaking

Computers and files have been seized from Dann's Office

So when is Driehaus going to return the money from the girls gone wild fund raiser - guess they'll need to be seized too??

HAD ENOUGH DEPRAVED DANN DEMOCRATS?

VOTE REPUBLICAN IN 2008!

PATHETIC 'family values' !

A few of you are misstating the story. First, it is the democrats who have filed the articles impeachment, not republicans (so the comment about the corruption being okay as long as it is republican, is a bit off color). Second, it was Dann's political spokesperson (read: not state spokesperson) who announced the press conference. This is probably what created the confusion between whether or not there was supposed to be a press conference.
The real issue here is that state troopers are having to patrol his office, check badges, and even purses to ensure that documents are n't being removed from the office. While Dann's action may not have immediately impeded his ability to be AG, they obviously now are getting in the way. He should step down NOW and stop wasting taxpayer money and valuable time in bringing the AG's office back into the law enforcing body it was designed to be.

LIVE from Attorney General Marc Dann's condo in Columbus, Ohio...

It's the Jerry Springer show!!!

One reporter said he wasn't sure what Dann had even done that was illegal.
I must admit the Republican scandals didn't leave you with much imagination.
Coingate, White Hat Carter School scandal that got levied with 4.2 million in fines, subprime and payday lenders-all on Dann's hit list. Its called "payback".
And least I forget, there are about 20 lawsuits levied against the state of Ohio that Blackwell left for Brunner to resolve after he emptied the SOS budget with payback "bonuses" to his staff as he left office.
Really, Dann, is this the best you can do for corruption? The RETHUGS got you beat coming and going.

Speaking of hypocrisy, wasn't it ther Ohio GOP that stood by and did nothing to remove convicted criminal Bob Taft, Convicted Criminal Bob Ney, convicted Coingate criminal Thomas Noe, and convicted criminal Timothy LaPointe from their positions of power in the State of Ohio?

let's vote for obama, a muslim, so there's no more christianity and everyone can have affairs all day long at work.

at 5:41 PM, May 14, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yeah, this isn't even close to being on par with Taft et al. While this does show that Dann is an immoral scumbag, he didn't breach his trust as AG.

This wasn't "corruption" per se as was the case with the previous administration, this was just gross.

Glad Driehaus had the backbone to do the right thing and tell Dann to step down - gutsy - unlike his opponent.

Go Barrack Hussein Obama!

I heard Texas oppo research expert Jason Stanford got fired Wednesday morning for doing such a "bang-up" job as Dann's political spokesman for less than a week.

Did Dann move back in with Jessica. What's up with that?

Dig into 'Girls Gone Wild'...there's more to it but it doesn't involve 'Little Hands' Dreehouse.

It's pitiful that the Fishwrapper sends its readers to competing newspapers' web pages. Does Callanan or Buchanan sign off on that?
Time to hire more reporters, Enquirer

at 2:09 AM, May 15, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Why are you listening to this Stooge Stanford and printing it as fact? What about naming or at least checking sources?

at 8:18 AM, May 15, 2008 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Don't be so quick to say that Dann did not breach his trust as AG quite yet. There are multiple investigations going on and quite a bit of data to go through. A guy with this much hubris and with a middle name of "quid pro quo" and a nickname of the "cronyism kid" more than likely has secrets yet to be revealed. Dann tried hard to bargain his resignation for a delay in probes into his activities.
Hey, I'm a Republican and admit that Taft was an incompetant crook and that our party screwed up big time in looking the other way.

Wow... back in January some alleged loser allegedly blogging from his Mommy's basement knew already what Newt and the rest of the Gang Of Pedophiles are just learning now:

Doesn't matter. I am going to put this in terms the corporate plutocrats running the Gang Of Pedophiles can easily understand: your brand sucks.

Face it, after the illegal war, record gas prices, record deficits, a tanking economy, record foreclosures, a worthless dollar, and their interest in using children for their sexual gratification, the "Republican" brand is dead.

They could run the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost for County Commission and will still lose.
