Tim Ryan to Clermont: You don't know me, but....

If you are a congressman who would like a promotion to the U.S. Senate some day, the best way to do that is to get outside the confines of your little congressional district and start making yourself known in parts of the state where no one knows your name.

Which explains why the keynote speaker at this year's Clermont County Democratic Party's Golden Donkey Dinner on April 19 is none other than Tim Ryan, the Democratic congressman from Ohio's 17th Congressional District, which includes Youngstown.

Ryan is said to eyeing the Senate seat of Republican George Voinovich, which comes up again in 2010. Voinovich says he is running for a third term.

Some in the Democratic party tried to get Ryan to run in 2006 for the seat then held by Mike DeWine. But Ryan took a pass, and backed Cincinnati's Paul Hackett over Sherrod Brown, who, of course, went on to win the seat.

Ryan is not likely to let another opportunity pass him by. It's not surprising now to see him pop up on the Democratic rubber-chicken circuit.

Clermont County Democrats will hear from the congressman at their Golden Donkey Dinner, which is the party's big annual fundraising event. The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. April 19 at the Eastgate Holiday Inn. Tickets, by the way, are $60 a pop and are available at www.clermontdems.org.

Poor Clermont County Dem's. They have been begging for months to find anyone to speak at the Golden Donkey dinner. They had to settle for someone that nobody knows. They could have had Virus Vic Wulsin for free.

Voinovitch or Ryan. Once again, there is no Republican candidate.

That's interesting. I heard that Jim Parker has been speaking in places like Cleveland, Wapakoneta, St. Mary's, Akron and Ironton. That guy is everywhere. What is he thinking about doing?

We will need Tim Ryan in the Senate in 2010 as President Obama and the fillibuster-proof Democratic majority in the Senate and the veto-proof Democratic majority in the House will still be cleaning up the Repugnicant mess.

The Repugs are so unpopular that even their usual racial smears aren't going to work this time. The American public doesn't care if the next President purple as long as he can begin undoing all the Repugnicants' disastrous attempts at governing and successful attempts at looting the public treasury to enrich themselves and their cronies.

I know what Jim Parker is doing:

He is going around making vague statements about how he believes in the "American Dream" and the "middle class" without really outlining what he is going to do. Fluff words and lecutring everyone about how only a conservative Democrat can win is really getting old.

Clermont Co. Dems are very lucky. - Tim Ryan is a dynamic, terrific speaker, not to mention a very good-looking man. Widely seen on C-Span as one of the Thirty-Somethings.

With the Repug record of causing 2 recessions on their watch, plus the illegal and expensive Iraq wWar, plus the American people finally seeing through their "Jesus Wants You To Vote Republican" BS, the Dems could nominate a purple druid and still win easily.

Clermont County Democrats are not lucky at all. Once again we have a slate of unknown and underfunded candidates to choose from. When are we going to get a real choice??

Good Luck Tim Ryan, if I lived in your district you would have my support. I all for a veto / fillabuster proof Senate to back up President Obama.

I would not go even if it was free.
I think I'll pass on seeing the likes of Dr. Vic, Dave Lane, Steve Black, and Cliff Johnson.
Maybe Cliff can order up some pizza and stuff some campaign info in for the guest speaker! I understand he is very good at that!!

"Once again we have a slate of unknown and underfunded candidates"

THEN HELP FUND THEM!

Parker spoke at the Scioto County Democrats meeting earlier tonight. He was well received. When he ran for Congress the last time, he won the entire Eastern half of his district.

Wonder if Virus Vic will be there? I hope that the people in attendance ask her about "Victoria's Secrets"? Vic...wont' you explain all of your problems. Nah... okay...we'll talk about them for you a little later!!!!

I believe that Jim Parker could split the vote and actually win a Democratic primary for US Senate in Ohio.

While the politicians all fight amongst themselves to further their own political agendas, Parker would surface as exactly the kind of candidate that America is looking for.
