Denise Driehaus officially in

Denise Driehaus officially announced her candidacy today as a Democrat running for the 31st House District seat held by her brother, Steve, who is running for the 1st Congressional District seat.

She filed her candidacy paperwork at the Hamilton County Board of Elections.

Driehaus, a lifelong resident of the West Side, currently resides in West Price Hill where she and her husband, Zeek Childers, co-own two businesses -- the Front Porch Coffeehouse and Philipps Swim Club.

Driehaus is president of the Cincinnati Recreation Commission where she has served as a board member for the past 16 years. She also is on the board of the Price Hill Civic Club and is a founding member and the vice president of the West Price Hill Merchant's Association.

Driehaus, a graduate of Miami University, has two children, Sarah and Andrew Childers.

The 31st District includes about 110,000 residents of western Cincinnati including Camp Washington, Sayler Park, South Fairmount, Price Hill, Westwood, and Addyston, Cheviot, Cleves and North Bend. The annual base salary is $60,584.

Scott Gehring plans to run as a Republican candidate in the 31st District.

Too bad the GOP will not have a credible candidate to run against Driehaus.

So Mrs. Childers doesn't think she can win the seat on her qualifications alone, she has to rely on her maiden name for votes?

Too bad the geniuses at the Enquirer missed the big story of the day that Pat DeWine won't run for commission next year...

If Gehring won this seat by some fluke, he would probably switch parties anyway. He is married to a Dem and he managed a "Dem" candidate running as a Charterite. He also worked for a Republican councilwoman who was well-known for her support of Dems.

The second shoe dropped when the better halfo f "cut and run" candidates sought out a SAFE cushy job in the courthouse.

DeWhine cuts the county budget into shreds runs it into near bankruptcy then runs for another office likely to be unoppossed when it's obvious that he is incompetent.

As for the COAST crowd. Looks like the Republican Party has figured out that a hostile takeover has been staged against them - and they're fighting back.

Musical chairs - for alot of has beens who led this county into the tough times it's facing.

The only way they know to get us out of this is to throw money at it - and they already spent all our money.

March in Democrats who are used to working on a shoe string budget and grow this county from the weed it became.

What a fricken mess

Keep the voters confused - the strategy of a desperate, idealess, morally bankrupt party.

nepotism alive and well on the West side. How about that water park at Dunham ? Too bad you had to sacrifice the West High pool for the fundage.

Good for you Denise

Unfortunately, nobody will ever know how mean and inept Denise is. Her husband does!

It's a state rep race in Cincinnati. Who cares?

The GOP needs to get a stronger candidate against Mrs. Childers (Driehaus) so that we can gain the seat back. Wait up and smell the coffee! There are two DEMOCRATS running this round. I guess we must vote for Gehring to finally get rid of Driehaus Family.

Doesn't matter. I am going to put this in terms the corporate plutocrats running the Gang Of Pedophiles can easily understand: your brand sucks.

Face it, after the illegal war, record gas prices, record deficits, a tanking economy, record foreclosures, a worthless dollar, and their interest in using children for their sexual gratification, the "Republican" brand is dead.

They could run the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost for County Commission and will still lose.

The democrats have done such a bang up job of ruining the city, it is only fair now that we let them ruin the entire county!

Uh, Team Heimlich/DeWine ruined the County, (the voters figured that out and voted them out) and the Democrats are the ones who have to fix it.

I think Scott Gehring is going to surprise a ton of people when he ends the Driehaus Dynasty and wins this race.
