2nd District straw poll coming up
There's an event coming up on Saturday, Feb. 9 that might give a good indication of where things stand in the 2nd Congressional District contest on the Democratic side - at least where things stand in Clermont County.
The Clermont County Democratic Party is holding a forum for 2nd District candidates at 10 a.m. that day at the Union Township Civic Center. Victoria Wulsin and Steve Black, the principal candidates, have agreed to attend; an invitation was also extended to William R. Smith, a Pike County Democrat whose name will be on the ballot, but the party hasn't heard a peep out of him yet.
There will be plenty of coffee, juice and yummy pastries and a chance to hear Black and Wulsin go at it.
Then, for $2 (proceeds going to the Clermont County Democratic Party), those in attendence can buy ballots to cast in a 2nd District straw poll.
Now, don't show up with a $20 bill and expect to buy 10 ballots you can cast for your favorite candidate. One ballot per customer.

Black is sunk.
While his Republican past might have been an asset in the general, the primary voters are going to jump all over it.

Someone has a 'black' hand on the farming gould !
PATHETIC 'HypocRite" !
HAD ENOUGH, VOTE, for a real, DEMOCRAT 2008 !
.
This sounds like it might have possibilties towards an unofficial poll, but will the ClerCoOh Dems really give Dem candidates an objective say in this process if they are not native to ClerCoOh?
HAD ENOUGH DEMOCRAT, VOTE 2008
Who cares? Jean Schmidt will beat either one of these unqualified clowns by 10 points. The second district is the most conservative district in Ohio.

It is far from a poll--unofficial or not. It is 20-30 people, all of whom are pretty involved in Clermont politics, showing up for a fundraiser. The winner is usually the person who shows up with the most volunteers, most of whom live nowhere near Clermont.
It is all for fun and should not be taken seriously.
"The second district is the most conservative district in Ohio."
And yet, Jean Schmidt nearly lost it twice, and needed millions of outside cash just to barely hold on. Democrats everywhere should pray that the party nominates Jean Schmidt again. Brinkman would easily defeat either Democrat.
Who will Jim Parker vote for?
Oh, I missed the $2 charge... Maybe Parker won't be there after all. He's been known to spend virtually zero dollars in past years and still win a very high percentage of the district. That $2 would probably blow half of his 2010 campaign budget.
What's he doing these days?

You may not know this, but 2008 is a presidential election year. When voters of the 2nd District go to the polls, everyone with an "R" after their name will win the district - including Congresswoman Jean Schmidt. Get over it. Or better yet, don't. Your ignorance of Politics 101 is quite amusing. Please keep posting - especially after the primary where Brinkman goes down in flames. We'll be waiting...
