Kaup Files Her 500
Council candidate Joan Kaup announced today she's the first to file the 500 valid signatures required by the board of elections.
A release from her campaign says the early filing "is a testament to the organization of the campaign and the enthusiasm that Kaup's candidacy is generating."
The statement also said she expects to announce later this month that the campaign already has raised $40,000.

Smitherman was the first to file and the most organized. Spin that!
Smitherman 2007!
does she really think $40,000 is going to do much?
Wealthy people who don't have jobs have lots of time to raise money from their wealthy friends.
if that is her case, don't you think she would have raised more than $40,000 by now?
$40k is actually a pretty good showing if all her friends haven't maxed out early. Most candidates only raise about a 1/4 of their total at this stage.
$40,000 now is almost as much as Smitherman raised in total for 2005 so that's pretty good.
like any of this matters. Politicians, candidates, city workers--whoever. All the same. All clones. All worthless.
