Oh yeah, the NAACP carries some heavy weight in this town... I'm shaking...
LOL!
Pleasse, Smitherman, crawl back into your hole; your constituency of 4 people mean absolutely nothing in this town.

Bye Bye, Smithereens!

If Smitherman wasn't in charge, I'd be very sympathetic. But since a perpetual grandstander was elected president, I no longer take the local chapter very seriously.

I sincerely hope AMOS and labor leaders are in charge of this fight, because no one but a few radicals in the black community wants to listen to Smitherman.

Smitherman beat Edith Thrower twice and just because you don't like Smitherman and enjoy hating on him doesn't mean that he's wrong when he says there should be some inclusion on a $700 million dollar project that will be way over budget.

Amos put out a fantastic list of "demands" that seem incredibly reasonable, productive and worthwhile.
the only glitch i saw in it was ONLY requiring that 50% of the jobs be from the county - i think all of them should be from the community exempting high caliber expertice that isn't avialable here already.

as to smitherman - i had a bad impression of him until i saw him on 12 newsmakers - i didn't like the "agitator" reference someone made about him. smitherman explained "agitator" was meant as "advocate" and his intellegent and again well reasoned position shocked me - i thought he was great and exactly what the white and black community needs right now. reasonable aggressive advocacy. as long as he stays focused and rationale in his demands - i think he'll improve the quality of life here for all of us

We don't think so !

We think the wRong wingnut whackos "WHITEwashed" BANKS!

You see:

NAACP critics and the elephant dung slingers only prosecute minorities, gays and those that support non-discrimmination !

PATHETIC !

Chris Smitherman is quickly on his way to becoming irrelevant.

Oh, wait - what am I talking about? He already is.

Instead of obstructing the Banks Project (which has been obstructed long enough), why doesn't the NAACP instead come to the table with SOLUTIONS??? You want minority investment? Drum some up and bring it to the table. You want minority contractors? Bring some names and examples of their work. Don't just grandstand and say how awful things are. Solutions, solutions, solutions! Not problems, problems, problems.

When you show solutions - you force the other side to take notice and make the decision.
