Who's there?

Here’s the tentative list of those who are expected to greet President Bush when Air Force One lands later this afternoon:

Sen. Mike DeWine and his wife, Fran;

William Myles, owner of Myles & Myles Retirement Planners;

Stuart Dornette, a partner at Taft Stattinius and Hollister and the Cincinnati Bengals’ attorney;

John Williams, director of the Hamilton County Board of Elections;

Kathryn Lang, corrections specialist, Fifth Third Bank;

Missie McPherson, a tutor;

Rob Mecklenborg, chairman of the Miami University College Republicans;

Lauren Schroeder, a student at Miami University;

Robert “Kent” Wellington II, who will be given an award by the president for his work in USA Freedom Corps.

Thanks to our wonderful party for recognizing a Hamilton County University...oh wait...they didn't, they just recognize a rich lawyer's son.

So what's wrong with being rich?

nothing, except special treatment. There are lots of Xavier people that would have loved to be there, if the President goes to Butler County, let a Miami kid go.

Sources say that Miami University students were, and continue to be, the driving force of Senator DeWine's festival campaign in Hamilton (and Butler) County this summer. Perhaps that had something to do with the invitation.

From what I can see and have heard, the entire greeting party was more than deserving of their invitation. Let us not forget Robert “Kent” Wellington II, who was recognized for his incredible work in USA Freedom Corps.

My understanding is these students did not get chosen because they are from Miami University, but because of the dedication and hard work of those two specific students to the Senator's campaign. They almost single handedly ran his campaign efforts in Hamilton County.

These 2 students are residents of Hamilton County who just so happen to go to Miami University.They have been working on the DeWine campaign. It had everything to do with the invitation.

People have said what a wonderful job that the Miami kids have done in the past and they are continuing their hard work this election season. Why not reward individuals who play a very important role in Southwest Ohio. They continue to impress and we are lucky that we have them.
