How to rev Jesse Jackson's rockets
If you want to see Jesse Jackson get all worked up, ask him about the 30 to 40 percent of Ohio's African-American voters who are telling pollsters they will vote for Republican Ken Blackwell for governor.
Then stand back, plant your feet firmly on the ground and prepare to weather a tsunami of words, none of them particularly complimentary to the candidate who could become the first African-American governor of Ohio.
"Some people might be blurred by pride in having a black man in that office, but they must understand - you choose your leader based on public values,'' Jackson told the Enquirer, standing out on a balcony at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, where he was about to address a gathering of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus.
"Some people were proud of Clarence Thomas when he was nominated,'' said Jackson of very conservative black Supreme Court justice. "Nobody's proud of Clarence Thomas now.''
Jackson reached in his coat pocket and whipped out a copy of an Aug. 24, 1990 Enquirer op-ed piece written by Blackwell when he was running for Congress. In it, Blackwell called the Civil Rights Act of 1990 "fraudulent" and a piece of "legislative legerdemain,'' and urged President George H.W. Bush to veto it.
Jackson blamed Blackwell, in his role as Ohio secretary of state, for making it more difficult for inner-city black voters to cast their ballots in 2004 and said the situation is getting nothing but worse with new rules restricting voter registration driv es and requiring voters to provide photo IDs.
'He's has a right to be on the Bush-Cheney-Gonzalez team,'' Jackson said. "But people need to vote for candidates who are on their side.''
Jackson also suggested that Blackwell should step aside as Ohio's chief elections officer in an election where he is a top-of-the-ticket candidate.
"You can't be an owner and a player on the same team,'' Jackson said. "Even Michael Jordan couldn't pull that off.''

Ken Blackwell stole the election in Ohio and is a traitor to his race and country.
Can Jesse Jackson make his racism any more clear?
If a black man doesn't vote just like slavemaster Howard Dean tells him to, he's a traitor to his race.
African Americans should be PROUD of people like Justice Thomas, Secretary of State COndi Rice and Ken Blackwell.
They have the choice to vote for an African American, or they can stay the Slave Mistresses of the Democratic Party.
The above named Black Republicans are all Uncle-Toms who have sold their souls for power and money. No self respecting Black man or woman could ever vote Republican.

Is there a racist echo in here?
This is why you lose circulation, not encourage it. Shame on all of you. Next time, just stick the facts and leave the soap opera at home.
What? Isn't yellow journalism good enough for Cincinnati anymore or is it stooping to an all time low?
Very undignified.
P.s. The boycott was about the "news" of the riots, not the riot.
Rev Jackson said "you choose your leader based on public values", so how those posting comments here call this racist is beyond me.
It is easy to understand how a person of any color can reject a party that gave us the disastrous Katrina response, the Iraq War (based on cherry picked intel to fit an agenda), an increase in the poverty rate, promotes spying on Americans, failed to protect us from an attack on 911 (despite the Aug 6 PDB and numerouss other attempts to warn the president), a HUGE deficit, ruined our reputation around the world, destroyed generations of diplomacy, promotes torture, tramples the constitution, fails to supply proper body armor to the military, cuts veteran benefits, disenfranchises voters from the opposing party, exposes lifelong CIA agents working on sensitive work (Brewster Jennings), caused a proliferation in terrorism, produced more corruption scandals while initiating the least oversight investigations, turned our election system into a private fiasco, "misplaced" BILLIONS of $ in Iraq, etc.....
I am proud of Justice Thomas.
Martin Luther King was a Republican and so was his father.
It's handy to drag out the race card - when it suits - but - often - it doesn't suit.
Ken Blackwell is not ashamed of the way he is using the race card.
Why should you expect him to be?
He wasn't ashamed when his race stood out in the rain to vote - way too long. He wasn't ashamed when his race wandered in the rain trying to find moved voting assignments, messed up shut-in voter issues, mishandled votes, etc..
He should be ashamed - now that he is occupying 2 positions in the midterm elections - but he is not.
He should be ashamed about a few things that his opponent's campaign has chosen not to mention - but - he is not.
Ken Blackwell asks - ironically - for you to vote for the color of his skin - when so many have fought for the right to not be judged by the color of one's skin.
Ken Blackwell and his campaign have dragged the race card - from his bag of tricks - and if you believe he believes in you and will protect you - and assist you - he will not be ashamed.
He will know he has tricked you with his race card.
