McEwen: It's official

Bob McEwen put out a news release today saying that he has filed his declaration of
candidacy to run against Rep. Jean Schmidt for the U.S. House.

Spokesman Michael Harlow said what that means is that McEwen turned in signed petitions to run for the 2nd District race to the Hamilton County Board of Elections today.

That's because while the Federal Election Commission shows that McEwen filed an updated "statement of organization" on Jan. 31, he still hasn't filed amended his "statement of candidacy" since he filed last May to run in the special election.

Harlow said that filing should be upcoming.

The press release stated McEwen filed his signature petitions so that he's now officially on the ballot...

And that means that Hackett is going to have to make a very tough decision - drop out of the Senate race to get pasted in the general election by McEwen, or get pasted in the primary by Sherrod Brown.

Either way, Hackett's political career will soon be on hold for a few years.

McEwen is the definition of what is wrong with Republicans today... Career politicians that can't ever give up the plush lifestyle.

A lobbyist for smaller government, I am sure that's just the stance McEwen took for his clients when he begged current House members to vote for his pork barrel proposals.

He certainly wasn’t for smaller government for the “taxpayers” when he sided with the Democratic majority in Congress back in the late 80’s.

The symbol of a typical politician, a glad hand-shake, a nice pat on the back, and an absolute lie to your face. Welcome everyone to Bob McEwen your congressional candidate from Northern Virginia. All it took was 50 falsified signatures…..

Hackett has now taken his toys and gone home to cry to whatever statue (this month) he prays to in his closet.

Bob Bob is moving like a steamroller all over the 2nd district and mean jean is acting like a bull in a china shop.

The reason McEwen has not filed with the Federal Election Commission is that he hasn't raised any money. A campaign with no money and no hope doesn't have to file electronically.

How does McEwen figure 12 people is a successful open house. If you take out his un-employed staffers and the hangers on looking for jobs I counted 12 people. When he talks about braving the weather maybe he was referring to the snow storm at his home in Virginia because when I drove to the open house the weather was fine. I noticed a common thread with his campaign-everyone needs a job, including Bob.

Whoever wrote that about the open house is not only wrong but is purposefully misleading readers. If this person was even there, they would have known that at least 70-80 people were there in a short two hour period. Also, channel 12, 19 and the Enquirer were present.

I agree with the last person. My son attended the open house and there were definately more than 12 people there, I would conservatively say 50-60. That is an awful lot of people who are excited about this race and the thought of getting a true American like McEwen back into office. Despite what Paul Hackett is saying now, he is going to enter this race. Republicans in this district need to decide who we want to face Hackett, Jean or Bob. Personally, I have seen how Jean performs against Hackett and I wasn't impressed. We need to keep this district Republican and Bob McEwen is our only chance.

Typical Schmidt staffers posting bunk trying to save their own jobs.

Not a shred of truth to any of it.

Won't they be so sad when the April fundraising report shocks their pants
off.

Hahaha. No there wasn't. I was there the whole time and maybe 25-30 people showed up. Maybe the McEwen team should "bounce" around the names of who showed up.

McEwen couldn't even count the number of checks he bounced. First he said none, then it was a few then a few more and finally he admitted to bouncing 160 some odd checks. How can you expect Bob to give a truthful count at his open house. Bob couldn't even make it to his own event on time. Maybe his flight in from Virginia was delayed due to the snow storm on the east coast. The TV camera's also showed very few people there.

I think it's Mean Jean herself writing these lies. She doesn't really have anything to do now that her buddy Tom Noe has been convicted of litany of felony charges. When is it going to come out that Jean accepted stolen and laundered money for her run against State Sen. Tom Neihaus, who is a true American. Jean should take her dirty money and retire to her Miami Township compound. Check out the Enquirer article about Tom Noe and his gold coin scandal. People will find that Jean was knee deep in it, if anyone will take time to look.

Didn't the true American, Tom Niehaus vote for the new sales permanent sales tax increase and the new CAT tax that is killing Ohio's businesses? I think Hackett tried to find a connection between Schmidt & Noe. Guess what-no connection. Sorry little McEwenite, wrong again. By the way your buddy Bob has a pretty godd record with raising taxes and voting with the Dem's against tax cuts. Check his record, its all public as opposed to your bull.

Dear Sir:

Charles W. Sanders has filed his petitions to run for US Congress in Ohio's 3rd Congressional District this Wednesday afternoon.

Mr. Sanders is the former 4 time democratic nominee in Ohio's 2nd Congressional District including victories in 2 contested democratic primaries in 2002 & 2004.

Mr. Sanders is Warren County's comeback kid!

Carpetbagging Bob McEwen should go back to his $882,000 suburban Washington DC mansion. He isn't from here, and how can we trust somebody who represents foreign governments as a lobbyist? Maybe his true loyalties will be to the foreigners who paid him. We can't take that risk. Carpetbagging/Bouncin' Bob needs to get out of here.
