Realtors pick Pepper for mayor, 7 for council

The Cincinnati Area Board of Realtors made its endorsements for mayor and council today.

For mayor: David Pepper.

Realtors Board President Geoffrey W. Barnes said Pepper would move the city "in the right direction where Cincinnati stops losing population and becomes a safer and more livable city."

For City Council: Jeff Berding, Chris Bortz, Laketa Cole, John Cranley, Leslie Ghiz, Sam Malone and Chris Monzel. That's three Democrats, three Republicans and a Charterite.

Pepper's opponent, Mark Mallory, has gotten the support of the Realtors as a state senator and has made his endorsements a key indicator of his ability to build consensus.

"Endorsements go that way. They have to pick somebody," he said.

"Some elections you'll have a group, and sometimes you won't," he said. "Endorsements are important, and it's good to see that David has gotten some."

Alicia has a good memory. Perhaps she has run for City Council before?

Sure realtors would endorse Pepper
Berding, Bortz, and Ghiz, that just means more money for them as
Pepper and his hand picked sell out the citizens of Cincinnati.

Real estate is all about money, and money folks always stick together even when they don't and cannot trust each other.

Rememer: Berding=Bengals Seat Licensing Screw up

Bortz=Easy in for 3CDC as he is the SON of 3CDC

Pepper=Has already sold out Cincinnati to Company Like Convergys and Cincinnati Bell, and they ripped of the taxpayers and Pepper helped them do it. Pepper is also the SON of P&G.

Ghiz= Pepper Suck Up.

See Where this is going. Pretty soon if Pepper becomes, Mayor, Cincinnati could be owned, lock stock and barrel by Covington or Newport...Better yet Chiquita or Saks.

Save Cole, Crowley and Smitherman.

Smitherman, is real people, and will roll up his sleeves and fight for the taxpayer.

I don't think the spin "He's anti-cop" is true. I Think he is Pro-Citizen...and it is about time somebody at City Hall is Pro-Citizen

7 corporate sellouts! They can pretend it matters what party their in, but they are all going to continue to give away our tax dollars. Pepper the Demobrat, would be as effective at reversing the population drain as he's been in the past, pathetic. He'll keep his corporate/political investors here until the city is completely broke and then they'll be gone in a NY minute. They're all Republirats, like the editors and stenographer of this paper and blog

Uh, Smitherman was NOT endorsed by the Realtors PAC.

Uh, neither was Crowley...so your point is what?

At least Smitherman told the truth about the fountain square deal, unlike the Spenquirer. It's not $42million, it's $96 million. 3CDC is taking our largest revenue generator, the garage. It generates $1.8 million a year, the lease is for 40 years. The city also pays $500,000 a year + the $4 million upfront.
Don't bother to tell us the truth, Jayson Blair.

Smitherman tells the truth about a whole like of things that Cincinnati staus quo citizens would rather not know the truth about.

That is why so many people are against him, because he is for the taxpayer and that means that dirty political deeds will be exposed.

Smitherman has never sold out and will not sell out Cincinnati citizens...He got my vote.

Saying Smitherman is pro-police is like saying Charlie Luken doesn't drink.

Demanding answers on behalf of taxpayers who are always complaining about not getting the services we spend our hard earned tax dollars for does not make him anit-police it makes him pro-citizen.

For that as a hard working tax-payer in Cincinnati I am grateful.

As far as Charlie Luken, I don't know him like that.

Of course the realtors want pepper. They know a lot of people will be selling their houses if he's elected.

What a stupid comment 6:50.

What a true comment. If Pepper is elected the mass exodus out of Cincinnati will continue.

In Pepper acknowledging the endorsement he says that these are the people who will be seeling our city to everyone...and on that he is right.

While he is selling Cincinnati to big business, the realtors will be selling all of the citizens homes to make room for more corporations getting taxes breaks, low rent and not bringing new jobs.

Pepper says all citizens should held accountable for what goes on in this city, be what he holding himslef accountable for?

He could not even admit to his campaign violations, and put the blame on his staff for and illegal robocall.

David Pepper received the CABR endorsement because of a four- year record of supporting single-family development and construction in Cincinnati.

For David, this is a very meaningful validation from an important organization, far more than the transparent political payback - given to Mark Mallory - for years of laying down to Aronoff and Finan.

The ignorant cynicism contained in these blog responses is troubling.

Smitherman's math is not bad, but perhaps your ability to accept the truth about the candidates you possibly support and their willingness to sell our city and citizens out is.
