Petition fraud, right here in Cincinnati

Sharon Coolidge reports:

A Hamilton County grand jury indicted two women for elections fraud Thursday, accusing them of falsifying several signatures on petitions to put a referendum on whether gays should be protected against discrimination in employment and housing on the November ballot last year.
Ultimately the issue did not make it to the ballot.

A local attorney challenged signatures on the petition, prompting an investigation into possible falsification by the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Lois Mingo and Precilla Ward were each indicted on a charge of election falsification, according to court documents. Ward was indicted on a second charge of writing a false signature on an election document.

Each charge carries a possible year prison term.

I think it is his group, and I wonder if these ladies are taking the fall for instructions given to them by the group - what is it? citizens for community values ? well, we certainly see what their values really are don't we - fraud, discrimination,...

And isn't Brinkman co-founder of COAST?

A month ago, people in Deters' office were telling me that Brinkman was going to jail over this. So either they realized Brinkman wasn't the one who forged the sigs or there is more to come. Don't know which. Can't say. Won't guess.

Others may come on here and pontificate like they know everything, but 99% of the time they aren't anywhere near the facts.

Please, get a life.

Are you kidding, there won't be a trial for them - they will get a plea deal with probation so there is no testimony as to where the registered voters lists with the addresses to plug in came from --and, since when did asking your private lawyer for advice exonerate you from prosecution? and how about filing an ethics complaint against the attorney who adviced Brinkman-ship t?o violate the law . At worst, the attorney adviced a client to engage in illegal acts, at best the attorney is incompetent
Deters needs to do his darn job

Pull previous COAST/Brinkman/CCV ballot initiatives and verify those signatures.

The jails are overflowing. Hardly room for one who forges signatures on a petition, wouldn't you say?

I can just see it now:

"Psst... hey, lady, what are you in for?"

"Armed Robbery, Felonious Assault, Rape, Drug Trafficking, and that was just for what I did last week, you?"

"Putting other people's addresses on election referendum petitions"

If they've got enough room for jaywalkers, kids who "trespassed" on sklyline chili parking lot (there after close),and care to hold people for days regarding an unpaid stop sign violation -- I think they have plenty of room for persons who try to corrupt our government election processes

Another great job by Joe "Let Em Go" Deters. First Paul Hackett then Amy Baker now Tom Brinkman. Guns, murder and fraud. But Deters does throw the book at jaywalkers.

I find it interesting that the liberal Democrats on here, without even seeing a shred of the evidence, can, in their own minds, try and convict people they disagree with poltically.

Yet these same people turn around and assume that every soon-to-be-executed murderer, who has been tried and convicted by a jury of his peers, and had his conviction reviewed by dozens of judges, is innocent.
