"Next time! Next time!"
John Cranley had one last request for the dozens of helpers, many of them young people: stay committed to public service.
"I want everyone to have a good time tonight,'" he told the about 75 people still gathered at what they hoped would be a victory party. "I just want you to know that I''m extremely proud of this campaign, proud of all of you. Let's all figure out a way to turn this incredibly positive energy..."
The group didn't let him finish his sentence, interrupting with "Next time! Next time!"
He urged them all to not lose hope.
"You put yourselves on the line to make this country a better place, to fight for your ideals. What's important is to take those skills, take that energy and continue to commit yourselves to public service."

Hey, Johnny. What happened to that vaunted ground game??? I thought this was supposed to be the most targeted GOTV campaign of all time. Guess standing outside of Frisch's Big Boy in checkered overalls isn't all its cracked up to be.
Next time??? Are Cranley's minions serious??? The DCCC targets Chabot funneling millions into the race in an environment as poisonous for Republicans as any in a generation, AND Cranley still loses. Face it, the First District is pleased with Chabot's representation.
Only the Enquirer and Cranley's followers are dumb enough to believe that Cranley is a legitimate candidate.
See you in the bottom of a bottle, Johnny.
Fortunately, Johnny can return to his lucrative career on city council trading votes for campaign contributions.
Let's face it, Cranley had the worst showing of any Democrat in the state of Ohio. How pathetic is that??? Surely, Johnny can't seriously believe that the DCCC will ever flush the type of money they did this year down his toilet of a race in the future.
On the bright side, Johnny, you'll always have your goofy W impersonator commercial to watch in your basement with mommy.
To the dogged blogger of 3:21am, 3:31am, 3:32am and 3:34am..
You sure spend a lot of time thinking about Johnny...what's the story there, anyway?
Anyone who puts their name forward on a ballot deserves the commendation of anyone and everyone who appreciates the fact that we live in a Republic.
What kind of government would you have us live in?
This was still a midterm election, not a general election. Steve C is an affable guy......apparently. Hasn't done anything remarkable enough to enrage the electorate...unlike Ms Schmidt.
But Steve Chabot is the guy who wanted to impeach the President of the United States over a personal matter....yet he "gives a mulligan" to George the Second....a man who cannot even truthfully recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
(It's that troublesome phrase, "and for the Republic for which it stands" that confounds George.)
How is this even possible? Steve I guess is just as comfortable as a pair of old shoes, and those who voted were just reluctant to toss him out.
The Abramoff scandal still hasn't played itself out yet, so maybe there will be some more time to reconsider Steve before the next election, even.
John is T.O.A.S.T. !
Face it, the First District is pleased with Chabot's representation.
looks like we're getting the old one percent mandate again. chabot is a disgrace to the people in the 1st district. i don't know one person whose values are represented by him.
