Brown gets Senate committee assignments
Democratic Sen.-elect Sherrod Brown got his committee assignments today:
Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee
Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee
Health, Education and Labor & Pensions Committee
Overall, not bad for a freshman. Brown had wanted a spot on the HELP committee so he could continue work on health care issues.
But the slate now leaves Ohio without Sen. Mike DeWine's powerful seat on the Senate Appropriations Committee, which oversees all spending bills. Brown defeated DeWine's re-election bid last week.
Sen. George Voinovich sits on the Senate Ethics Committee, Environment & Public Works Committee and Homeland Security & Government Affairs Committee.

Please explain to me why Ohio's loss of Mike DeWine's seat on the Senate Appropriations Committee would possibly matter to any Ohio resident except for those with super-sensitive egos.
Actually, having read the voting results, it seems that 55% of voting Ohioans think it is a GOOD thing that DeWine is not around to help run up record deficits and a nine trillion dollar national debt.
Any change in this committee can only bode well, and should lead to a more responsible stewardship of our tax dollars.
That said, I would like to add that naming George Voinivich to the Senate Ethics Committee is a very good move. He impresses me as a very principled man. God knows we need honest people on that committee.
Sherrod Brown has landed some pretty good assignments, and I'm confident that he will be effective as a voice for all of us.
Hey, Andy- Mr. Brown's "district" is the state of Ohio.
I don't know about "mexicans", but I believe Sherrod Brown will represent Ohio very well in working for ALL citizens of the US, not just special interests.
