Wulsin responds

Democrat Victoria Wulsin responded today to the two letters she's received from Rep. Jean Schmidt over her latest campaign ad.

Schmidt, a Miami Township Republican, had accused Wulsin of breaking House rules by using footage of Schmidt's "cowards cut and run" speech and asked her to take down the ad. Wulsin, an Indian Hill doctor, said that while House rules don't apply to someone who is not a member of the House, she pledges that if she were elected, she would never run from her public comments.

"I will speak respectfully and forcefully on behalf of my constituents and would be honored whenever anyone chooses to replay my floor speeches," Wulsin said. "Jean's fear of her own footage should be a serious concern for Ohioans who want to be represented by someone who makes them proud."

Wulsin also took issue with Schmidt's accusation that Wulsin was unwilling to discuss the issues, reminding Schmidt that she had challenged her to seven debates - one in each county in the 2nd District - and Schmidt only agreed to one 22-minute debate.

More from Wulsin's release:
Unable to point to a single accomplishment during her year in office, Schmidt's first campaign advertisement was a cartoonish assault on Wulsin that did not mention the incumbent.

On a related note, in a press release issued yesterday, the Schmidt campaign wrote that "Dr. Vicky either doesn't realize that she's broken a promise, or is intentionally misleading voters."

In fact, on April 27 of this year, the Ohio Elections Commission voted 7-0 to reprimand Jean Schmidt for "reckless disregard of the truth." Ahem.

Birds of Feather !

Hey mean jean here is another one of your GOP buddies !

Those that vote together, lie together !

Ed Moore: "I did not serve in Vietnam"

Ed Moore is out of the Boone County Clerk's race. The former head of the Boone County GOP has admitted lying about his Vietnam service. And the FBI met this morning with Boone County Sheriff Mike Helmig, Boone County Commonwealth's Attorney Linda Tally Smith and Boone County Attorney J.R. Schrand. Helmig's office confirms FBI investigating if Moore altered federal documents, including his military service records. Here is the statement Moore e-mailed me this morning.

Statement from Ed Moore:

I did not serve in Vietnam. I did enlist in the U.S. Army in 1967 at the age of 19 and was deployed to Germany in 1968. My wife, pregnant with our first child, was tragically killed in an auto accident by a drunk driver. I returned home for the funeral. As a young couple, we carried no insurance and had no savings. I was met with enormous financial responsibilities that I could not meet on a serviceman’s salary. I had no other choice but to secure full time employment, so I obtained a hardship discharge to the Army Reserves and completed my six (6) years of service with them. I was deeply wounded by these personal events, and extremely embarrassed that I could not continue full service to our country. I have lived a lie to my family, friends, associates, and public since that time to attempt to cover my embarrassment.

There is no excuse for what I have done. I have lived to improve my personal life and have served my profession, my faith community, and the public in all other
areas.

I realize that I have violated the trust of everyone I know and I am deeply sorry and ask for your forgiveness.

I want to apologize to Veterans everywhere and to my supporters. I cannot, in good
faith, continue to seek the office of Boone County Clerk, therefore, I am withdrawing from the race effective immediately.

I think it is telling that Vic Wulsin has conducted herself well throughout her campaign, consistently taking the high road when responding to Jean Schmidt's relentless baseless attacks. Wulsin's behavior has been exemplary, reflecting the honesty, integrity, and dignity that are exactly what 2nd District voters should expect in their Congresswoman. We certainly deserve nothing less.
I would much prefer that my representative be someone open and down-to-earth like Vic Wulsin that simply down-in-the-dirt like her opponent.

Yep, Victoria Wulsin is honestly pro-abortion, full of integrity as she gives her stamp of approval to same-sex marriage and as dignified as all get out in her positive attitude toward embryonic stem cell research. She's a gentle, quiet, soft-spoken, mannerly limousine liberal from Indian Hill, and I do NOT want her to be my representative in the House. She stands for everything I am deadset against. Putting her in the Second District seat would put Nancy Pelosi one step closer to being number 3 in line for the Presidency. No thanks! The only thing worse than a limousine liberal is a San Francisco limousine liberal.

When we win, the first order of business will be to impeach Bush and Cheney. Think President Pelosi.

I've seen many politcians wrap themselves in the flag, figuratively speaking. Schimdt is the first one I have seen ACTUALLY wrapped in a flag. Love the dress!

I am amazed that the Enquirer has chosen to endorse Mean Jean. Combined with their endorsement of Ken Blackwell, it shows the newspaper is completely out of touch with reality, not to mention its readership. (You would think they'd check out their own blogs, eh?)

It would be tempting to accuse the newspaper's Editorial Board of blindly soldiering on in support of the GOP agenda, but then they go and endorse Cranley, too. Hey, I'm not crazy about Steve Chabot, but as Republicans go, I can certainly think of worse ones in this election (Mean Jean and Blackwell topping that list). Maybe Cranley is their token Democrat.

So their endorsement of Schmidt is frustrating and inexplicable. Their main reason for doing so seems to be that Schmidt has more experience. Well, hey, Jon Kitna was a more experienced quarterback, too.

Football fans, Jean Schmidt should be penalized 15 years for un-Portmanlike conduct. Un-Portmanlike conduct includes but is not limited to:

Calling Murtha a coward (Portman did not resort to name calling)

Lying on your resume since 1989

Plagiarizing

Claiming false endorsements

Spreading lies about your opponents

Ducking debates

Being all talk and no action with the styrene leak

Coordinating a smear campaign against your opponent with the Enquirer

Advocating doing business with Fidel Castro, then taking money from anti-Castro interests

Discussing your newlywed daughter’s sex life in a public forum

Just to name a few things....

You mean, people actually pay for and then read the fishwRap ?

I don't !

Sometimes on Sunday maybe to get an ad when I'm willing to make a large purchase.

The web has made the fishwRap obsolete !

The blogs are dominated by the thinkers of society. Unfortunately, the majority are not thinkers, thus, the wRong wingnut propaganda and "culture of corruption" !

The fishwRap did not endorse the voters will in the Cincinnati mayoral race and they have not endorsed the peoples will in the 2nd district congressional or governor, period !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2006 !
