Blackwell sees no conflict in his dual election role

Asked by a debate panelist whether he should have been co-chairman of President Bush's campaign while overseeing elections as secretary of state, Blackwell said, "We had a great election in 2004. We had a bipartisan system" of election officials monitoring the election.

But Strickland said Ohioans never worried about the validity of their election system when Rep. Sherrod Brown or Gov. Bob Taft were secretaries of state.

Taft and Sherrod Brown did not invest in the Diebold Election System company "but my opponent did...He has failed the people of Ohio," Strickland said.

"The 2004 election was not conducted as it should have been conducted,'' Strickland said.

"We had a record turnout (of voters) in 2004,'' Blackwell replied.

I think Blackwell must literally be the only person in Ohio that doesnt see this as a conflict. Unfortunately he is the only one that matters in this circumstance but I am guessing he wont step down because he cant win so he plans to steal the election like he did for Bush.

You two are morons. Plain and simple. The election in 2004 was fair and square, as the votes were recounted using a bipartisan group, and were recorded as law dictates. Bush won the majority vote not only here in Ohio, but across the nation!! Did Clinton ever do that? Didn't think so.

Blackwell doesn't need to "steal" the election, he's going to steamroll Taxin Ted 60% to 40%.

George Bush didnt even win 60-40 and republicans actually like Bush.

Wake up. Blackwell is going to loose and Ohio will finally be delivered back into the hands of the people's and not corporate interests.

16 years of outlandish spending, lying, stealing, arrogance, and power grabbing is about to end.

it's up to Dem lawyers to work out the protection
all the other side knows how to do - is repress, supress - Ken doesn't care if his "Bros" - regress -
all this talk about Ken's affection for his race - is sad, sick rhetoric -
where were the lines the longest?

These two corporate candidates are brought to you by the Chamber of Commerce and the corporate propaganda machines. If qualified candidates like Bob Fitrakis and Bill Peirce weren't shut out of these debates by these partisan organizations you would hear from an expert on elections and economics. Ken Blackwell created unprecedented disenfranchisement of African Americans and young people. HE LIED TO THE NEW YORK TIMES! He said he would protect the ballots so further investigations in to civil rights and human rights violations could continue.

You live in a facist state. Vote for an Independent!

How many Democrats were complaining about "conflict of interest" when Sherrod Brown was Secretary of State while running for office?

How many Democrats are complaining about "conflict of interest" in states like Iowa and Georgia, where a Democrat was Secretary of State while running for Governor? Let's be consistent here.
