Local Right to Life endorses...

The Cincinnati Right to Life Political Action Committee has endorsed Jim Petro in the Republican Party primary for governor.

Paula Westwood, executive director of Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati, said, "Jim Petro's efforts as attorney general to protect all innocent human life is leadership badly needed at all levels of government.''

Westwood said a recent example was Petro's legal victory in lifting a seven-year court injunction on a state law that requires parental notification for minors plus 24-hour informed consent before having an abortion.

Update from Carl Weiser: Actually, as a commenter noted, the Committee endorsed not just Petro, but Blackwell as well. And, in fact, Democrat Bryan Flannery.

Subpar reporting, but at least the post was updated with complete information.

Sadly, that did not happen last week concerning the post about the GOP's blog. I asked if there were any other parties that had blogs. There are, but the Enquirer didn't see fit to update the post with complete information.

The Enq. should have put a post about ALL local political parties with blogs, not forward a GOP press release disguised as a blog post.

Before the KenBots who read this blog have a stroke, may I remind you all that the first three letters in the word "news" are "new." What's new, and therefore news, is that Cincinnati RTL gave Petro the time of day, let alone an endorsement. As the KenBots are willing to point out ad mauseam, Ken Blackwell is from here in Cincinnati and is unequivocally pro-life. Alas, Jim Petro has been in a position to actually do something about abortions in this state, and he has taken full advantage of it. Unfortunately for Ken, he is not a lawyer, he is not a legislator, he is not the Attorney General, so all he can do is pontificate on the matter.

Actions speak louder than words and that may have something to do with the decision Cincinnati RTL made.

Sadly for me, I have a job to get to and can't play on this blog all day. My wife and kids appreciate that, however.

99% of the rank & file members of Right To Life know that Blackwell is the stronger pro-lifer. I'm president of a Right To Life chapter & I work with the grassroots. The RTL members & chapter leaders personally support Blackwell by an overwhelming majority. We're not saying Petro's conversion isn't sincere, hopefully it is. Jim's a nice man. But Ken Blackwell has been a champion for conservative values for 2 or 3 decades. Petro was endorsed by the National Abortion Rights Action League just a few years ago. And in 2004, Petro sided with gay-rights activists & fought us on the Ohio Marriage Amendment! Not long before that, Petro opposed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Petro's TALK may be conservative but his RECORD is moderate at best. Blackwell has been a conservative champ. I hope Petro's change is sincere on pro-life, but he can't overcome his dismal record on protecting marriage.
That's why the vast majority of conservative leaders back Blackwell. Ken's the real deal & it's been way too long since we've had one of those for Governor.
